Wifey went signature and tried a Dali latte which was a delicious latte. There was a lot of seating with many customers working while drinking their coffee and tea. The ambiance was alive with lotf of colors and some excellent jazz playing. Maybe baristas choice? I was looking at the coffee selection mostly from Ethiopia from what it seems. I will do a better job on my next visit to see what's the light and dark roasts. I prefer the light roasts. read more

Good coffee but wish they were stocked with fresher beans. I stopped in on a Saturday morning and got a free hot drip coffee with purchase of beans. Most beans had been roasted a month ago and the "newest" was about 2.5 weeks old. Selection was limited with about 4 varieties mostly natural (not washed). Light roast and lightly acidic in latte form, no sweetener. But I imagine the acidity will be much more noticeable if you take your coffee black. FYI if you don't like acidity! I added the merengue topper for a dollar and I think I might actually like it better than the standard cream toppers! Mainly because thick cream has a harder time mixing into the coffee as you drink it and even if you mix it. But the merengue? Absorbs right in. My plain latte evolved into a lightly sweetened latte 1/3 of the way in without me trying. It was nice. Ambience-wise, standard coffee nook. I wandered in during a neighborhood stroll while my little was having her grooming up the street and was super happy to see this café allows inside - that's major bonus points in my book! On a busy Sunday morning, the service was a bit slow, but the solo barista was very friendly. One of my favorite spots to get work done and grab coffee! I used to work not far from here and even though it's a drive for me now, I still love to sit and enjoy a moment here. Inside is always so clean and the coffee is delicious! Some of the best coffee beans! The baristas are always sweet and fast with preparing everything! So, while I very much frequent my local coffee shops, I'm also a "home barista" and while Mad Lab not only has cafes, they are also a roaster (it's in the name)! It wasn't until recently that I purchased a bag of one of their frequently used beans in the Del Rey location. I asked the barista the name of the beans they had that day as I thoroughly enjoyed the cup from earlier. They have freshly roasted beans at the counter. They have several varieties of beans at the counter and always look for the roasting date on the bottom of the bag to make sure it is roasted within two weeks or so for the best flavor out of your beans! Also don't be afraid to ask the barista for recommendations. They are always friendly and engaging. Today's bean recommendation was Huila - a Columbian bean that I think tastes great from my usual latte! It took a while for me to dial-in my beans (I'm still a beginner) but its a nice pull I have to say. Check out their IG as they post which beans are being used at each of their locations! An L.A. based coffee roaster with fresh, bright flavors and a community-oriented feel. As a big coffee person, appreciated the chance to try an LA roaster. Today, their house coffee was Colombia Bryan Smith and the espresso the Doc Brown blend (?) I tasted the house coffee which was unique and very solid. We got the Americano ($4) and The Dolly ($7). The flavor notes of the espresso really shined through even for the Americano! The Dolly has their specialty syrup. We got less ice and sweetener but next time will just do it regular. read more

Don't come here if you're looking for boring and mediocre coffee. You don't just luck out on coffee this good. It takes testing, tasting constant refinement, and thoughtfulness. Even with milk, you're likley to notice nutty, chocholate, fruit notes, and things that just pop on the tongue. Drinks always land on the tongue super balqnced, nice acidity but perfectly balanced. The cute coffee shop was located right at the intersection between Inglewood and Culver Boulevard, two busy roads making it bit tricky to find parking. The place was cozy and pretty quiet other than the background music, as most guests were on their own gadgets. It was pretty busy throughout the day even on weekday, I guess with the location being strategic. The service was swift and the barista was super friendly. I tried their Dolly, which was basically latte with Demerara sugar. I would say their coffee was pretty strong and tad acidic, so probably would suit those loving that kind of notes for their cup of joe. One of our favorite local coffee roasters! We've purchased many bags of coffee, their recent coferments were particularly enjoyable in particular the blackberry and lychee ones. We typically like to order an oat latte or their specialty dolly latte that has their house-made syrup. The dolly latte is slightly sweeter than a normal latte but some days that's what you want in a pick-me-up. They have a few other locations around LA but all the locations I've been to have good vibes and the baristas are super friendly and helpful. I also love their logo! read more

Both the Cashier & our Barrista were highly friendly, professional, more than courteous, and went the extra mile in customer service. I had the Cherry Pie Latte (WORTH IT!!), and my friend had a Chai with Stevia. We each tried different croissants, and they did not disappoint. We were both very happy with our orders. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I might have to pickup the habit just so I can enjoy this experience again. Only things I would change is adding Cinnamon Rolls back to the menu (that's what caught my eye when I first found them) and stock more pastries since they seem to sell out fast. read more

I live about 2 minutes away from this location and always pass by hoping to one day to stop by and try it out and recently was one of those days where I was free and to make my way there. It's a small coffee shop with a limited menu. They make drips, espressos, and crafted coffee and tea drinks. I really didn't know what to get so I went with my usual iced dirty chai. It was mellow and creamy. The spice wasn't too strong and not too sweet. Personally I thought it was perfect. And you taste that bold espresso flavor in it- it was a perfect drink on a warm L.A. Fall morning. Since they just opened a couple months ago, the place looks bare but I believe over time it will be aesthetically pleasing. I do love the mural that is right outside the shop though. The service was very quick. It took the barista under 5 minutes to make my order. Very friendly and welcoming. I am looking forward to going back and trying their other coffee drinks. read more

Hubby and I discovered a new coffee spot! Yay! Being a coffee lover, I'm always excited to try new coffee spots. Mad Lab Coffee Roasters, is this cute corner coffee shop located in Culver City. I have to be honest, parking is not fun! So, be patient when you are looking for parking. The space is super chill and very minimalistic. They have your traditional coffee beverages, tea drinks, and seasonal drinks. They also have small bites and kid-friendly drinks. I went for one of their seasonal drinks called the Dolly. Since I'm an iced vanilla latte kind of girl, the nice gentleman said I would enjoy their Dolly drink as it is very similar. I also had to get this sugary croissant type of pastry. I'm not really mad for Mad Lab. I had higher expectations for this shop, given that I saw a location within the Topanga Social (a food hall with some of LA's best eateries). When I saw the Del Rey location had opened, I thought it would be worth the stop after work. There isn't too much parking besides street parking, but that of course is expected around all of LA. I was hesitant to go in because I didn't really see any employees at the counter through the door, but as I got closer, a gentleman stood up from one of their outside tables (who was taking a smoke break) and walked in and behind the counter. Not a huge deal, but I prefer to see all around attention at businesses. I ended up ordering just a simple iced matcha latte with whole milk. Gentleman was super friendly and even offered me a pastry since I came in an hour before close, and he said he wasn't gonna sell them. As for the matcha, the matcha looked to be prepared from a concentrate, as I watched matcha come out of a sauce bottle, which kinda seemed off putting to me. The color seemed promising though (the color of the drink is always the first indicator for me). When I drank the matcha, it tasted a bit gritty/powdery, which made me feel sad for going out of my way for this. It overall wasn't a terrible experience, but Mad Lab didn't live up to my expectations at all. Maybe next time I'll give their actual coffee a go. read more

Opening day of Mad Lab in Culver City! After driving by it on the initial opening day but closed due to delays and holiday 4th of July weekend last week, it's finally open! Free coffee, pastries and bagels by Hot Water Bagels on opening day! Great way to bring in the community together. This time I tried their Giddy Up latte, with just the right amount of sweetness. It was tasty, and this is coming from a black coffee drinker. Sometimes you gotta treat yourself on the weekend with a delicious coffee latte ;) A delicious variety of fresh pastries from almond croissant to guava + cream cheese croissant, which I tried. The service was friendly, quick and very attentive. The atmosphere and ambiance is filled with coffee aromas, a few tables inside and outside surrounding the building. Merch available and other beverages other than coffee also available in the fridge. It's great to have another great option of a coffee roaster and to have Mad Lab in Culver City. Visited this location on a drizzly mid Saturday morning and there was just one barista working both the drinks and cashier counter. Apparently the system had to reboot so she had to catch up on charging guests after she made the drinks . I forgot to get her name but she handled the whole situation very gracefully . It can't be easy having to multi task and still produce such a great espresso drink. I am impressed! (I had a flat white which is my go- to. ) I first discovered MadLab at their sunset location during Covid times and was always impressed with how efficient they operated the business out of a postage stamp size walk up window . I visited for the first time today. I had a latte and banana bread rectangle. The latte was good. The muffin was a little underwhelming. It lacked a bit of richness. Perhaps it was vegan (not that there's anything wrong with that). The place is nice and in an area that is lacking in nearby coffee shops. Give em a visit and see for yourself. It's not often I come to a coffee shop for a $6 latte anymore, but Mad Lab was one exception. This location was very centrally situated with plenty of parking on the street, so accessibility wasn't a problem. The one barista working was really nice and made the latte in like 60 seconds. It was very impressive. Overall, the ambiance is really great for people studying or wanting to do some work. We sat outside because they had some chairs outside and the weather was superb. The latte was really delicious, but I expected nothing less from a boutique coffee shop like this place. I would certainly come back to do some work or study. read more
