This place is a HIDDEN GEM. We got a large chicken pizza and garlic bread. I can not say one bad thing about it. The chicken on the pizza is to die for. (They didn't go skimpy on the chicken either) The marinara sauce that came with the garlic bread, probably the best I've ever had.

This is probably the worst sub shop in Portsmouth. Gross, dirty, and food is always wrong

Awful. Long waits for delivery, cold food when it arrived. Crust tastes frozen and premade.

Would definitely come here again.

Somehow the room felt nicer, cleaner and brighter. We dined with friends and started with cocktails which were very good. Our waiter brought out complimentary bread and oil, which we all enjoyed, and was replenished during our meal. The small Caesar salad was generous and easily enough for two. The meatball appetizer was also quite big, with 3 delicious meatballs and several pieces of garlic toast. We shared a Lasagna entree which was very good, and was more than enough for two people. In fact, we could not finish and brought home a small portion which I enjoyed for lunch. The menu offers both classic comfort Italian dishes, as well as pizza and more modern Italian fare. Our friends were pleased with Chicken Parm, again more than they could eat. We all felt prices were fair and reasonable given food prices these days. Further, unlike a few other spots in town, no unpleasant surprise surcharge for using a credit card. We were too fill to try dessert, but I expect they will be as good as those offered at other Buckley restaurants. I think Michael Buckley has done a great job reinvigorating this long standing Portsmouth restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation, the place was packed and with good reason.

They did not acknowledge my wife's birthday, though it was noted in the reservation. Here's the food: Arancini - good flavor, odd shape and breading, didn't come with sauce Calamari - slightly overcooked, not that tough but wasn't soft like fresh should be, but it was crispy Caesar salad - very good Side salmon - star of the show, delicious Kids butter pasta - it was fine, the pasta was a little over cooked Flank steak - cooked perfect. I'm not convinced it was flank steak just be the texture, it was leaner than expected but delicious - closer to strip steak. The cold potato salad is an odd choice. Carbonara Pizza - it's not carbonara, it's a breakfast pizza. MAYBE they used guanciale, but it was sliced thin like bacon with a few whole strips, not chunks like you'd expect carbonara. Also had chunks of mozz on it and a poached egg or too. I personally would have made a carbonara sauce as the base and then chunked guanciale on top. A little pepper and parsley to pull it together. Honestly disappointed, carbonara is a top dish for me. Dessert menu is lacking big time. The complementary soft serve gelato was good, not great. The place is fine, I wouldn't go back.

Cava is a very intimate dining experience with a warm comfortable indoor and outdoor seating option. It is also very practical as a stop before going to the Music Hall, an important date or like us an anniversary. Cava is unlike many of the places we have visited over the years in the food category. Every course was exceptionally prepared, thoroughly thought out and professionally executed with excellent plating. I know our last experience was great so I was expecting the same. To our suprise it was not. First it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon so we sat on their patio to just have a drink and a snack. Our server Delia came over to see what we wanted to order. We both started off with a water and I had their Paloma and my husband had a beer. It seemed like it was forever for our drinks to arrive. When she finally brought them over, she said the bartender had to go downstairs and get something so that was the reason for our wait. It would've been nice for her to let us know this. We also ordered their Mozzarella app which was fried and came with a pesto sauce. It was good but wish it had a bit more sauce on it or even a side of marinara. She also brought the check when we weren't even finished or asked for it, which was a bit disappointing since we probably would've ordered another drink, but to us that was a sign of "let's go." I don't know what has changed with this place because it used to be better. It also wasn't crowded so I expected the service to be much better than what it was. Maybe next time, Toscana!

The outdoor seating looks gorgeous, and the indoor seating looks cozy, so I thought the food could be promising. We ordered the Mushroom Pizza and the Fig Pizza. The Mushroom Pizza was decent, but honestly not as flavorful as it looked. Just based on the mushroom pizza, I would probably give Napoletana 3 or 4 stars. However, I did not like the Fig Pizza at all. I am a sucked for unique pizza flavors, and love a dash of something sweet (Hawaiian Pizza or a Hot Honey pizza are my favorites!). This Fig Pizza was SO SWEET. There was so much jam on it that it was sweeter than candy! My brother-in-law and mother-in-law could not eat it. I think this would have been much better with fresh figs, or just a dash of jam here and there. We barely touched the fig pizza as I seemed to be the only one who could get through it. As for the service, we got takeout, so I can't speak much to that. But our pizza was ready on time and everyone seemed polite upon pickup.
