One star because they will not refund the security payment my sister paid. She died after another…read moreresident ran into her with her walker that dragged her down breaking her leg. There was only one elevator working to service 3 floors of residents crowding them in the elevator during lunch time. She walked out first and the other resident rammed her walker in between my sister's legs dragging her down and fracturing her leg. She had surgery for broken tibia and fibula but never left the hospital as complications arose. She passed away 9 days later. My sister walked perfectly well and was given a go by the pt there. THE FACILITY NEVER CALLED ME TO ASK HOW SHE WAS. What does that tell you about 'caring'?

The people at the front desk are awesome as well as most of the nurses. The building is clean and…read morethe meals are hit & miss. I just can't recommend this place do to a number of reasons. Avoid doing business with a director by the name of Tina. Nice in the beginning and then she'll disappear. No return calls, nothing. She actually made things much more difficult than they had to be. VERY unprofessional. There are two elevators one of which is constantly breaking down. Same as the ONE coffee machine they have there. Always broken. Tbe doors to the rooms are way too heavy for elderly people, most in wheelchairs. The staff seems to change pretty frequently which really is not the best thing for residence.

Best Nursing Home & Staff - St. James Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center…read more St. James is truly the best nursing home with the most caring and dedicated staff. My best friend always goes to St. James, and while my father is in another facility due to needing more supervision, I don't feel they care for him the way St. James cares for my friend. The attention and compassion at St. James are unmatched, and they even offer iPad calls, something many other facilities don't provide. The staff is amazing, and I truly believe that comes from strong leadership. The head of this facility, Cristen Wei, was our case manager years ago and was promoted to Administrator. Because of my loved one's needs, we have used this facility for years, and I can confidently say I love all of the staff and absolutely adore Cristen. She is the most patient, kind, and compassionate person, and it's clear that she has created a culture where the staff goes above and beyond for their residents. Thank you so much for everything you have done for Mike and me! We are forever grateful! Love always, Mike & Loriann

It's hard to put into words the experience we/I had. My mother in law spent her last days on earth…read morein this "crap hole". There are just too many episodes to mention ALL in this review. And honestly the pain is still so raw from losing her. There is not enough staff and those that do work there have become so complacent to what is happening around them they don't even notice or care about the woman sitting in a wheelchair completely shirtless!Screaming! Crying! In a soiled diaper! Sadly this is how I found my mother-in-law almost every evening. As soon as she heard my voice she'd calm down. Which leaves me to wonder, How long was she like that?! When she needed to be attended to, the buzzer was useless! I actually had to call the front desk with my cell phone from her room to get some help. I use the term "room" loosely. It's a bed. That's it. I don't care if it's dementia, Alzheimer's or Rehabilitation for a hip replacement Each resident simply needs to be treated with respect so they can hold onto whatever dignity they may have left. As mentioned in another review, family members need to be with their loved ones as much as possible, so they can advocate on their behalf. God only knows what happens when we aren't there. The unexplained bruises...Even if she fell out-of-bed, it is Inexcusable! Mom was in the facility next-door as well.... I can say the same for them. Absolutely disgusting. I have photos - videos and a daily journal. When the time is right, they will be reinforcement! I am emotionally scarred from the experience of watching my beautiful Mother in law slowly die. Our health care system is broken. "We don't have enough staff" is not acceptable justification for the lack of care. Our society needs to RESPECT our elders! It's the what they deserve. What every human being DESERVES. These facilities are about profit and bed/patient turn around. I pray everyday that she didn't know or understand what was happening to her because it was just so horrific!! Completely heartbroken. Rest In Peace Mom.
