I've been coming to Valerie for at least 6 years now, and there's no one else I would trust my eyebrows to. Valerie was trained by Anastasia Beverly Hills, which is why I began going to her (I was previously driving over an hour just to get my brows done at an Anastasia salon), and I've continued coming to her for the last few years because of the amazing job she does. She used to be located at a high end local tanning salon, but since Fall 2016 has been operating independently in her own spot in downtown Center City Philadelphia. It is a bit pricer ($30) than just getting your eyebrows done at your local nail salon, but I promise you it is so worth it! Your eyebrows are shaped in proportion to your eyes & nose, all while relaxing on a salon table. Valerie even uses a magnifier to ensure she does a precise job. You can pay via cash or credit. She also does eyebrow tinting ($30), which I plan on trying my next visit! My recommendation is to give her a try, and if you've never had your brows actually 'shaped' before, grow them out for a month or two before coming. You will thank me later!

I was in Philly for the weekend for a Monday interview and I reached out to Valerie pretty late. Not only did she respond to me quickly, she accommodated me for a day outside of her normal hours. I am so appreciative of the time she took to do my eyebrows and the individual attention I received. Her studio is set up so that it is a truly a individualized and private experience. And a world-class eyebrow experience it was! She crafts your eyebrows specific to your face. It is amazing to be around individuals who are great but also passionate about what they do. Extremely frustrating experience with Thread Bar's Washington Square location and their handling of…read moreClassPass. I went in person to schedule a lash lift and tint and specifically told the employee I wanted to use my ClassPass credits. When I asked how to book it through ClassPass, she told me, "Don't worry about it. You don't need to book it on there since we made the appointment here." On the day of my appointment, only one hour beforehand, I received a call saying they couldn't honor it because the Washington Square location doesn't use ClassPass. Five minutes later, they called back and said they would accommodate me. I again made it very clear that I wanted to use ClassPass and was willing to go to whichever location accepted it. They specifically told me to go to Washington Square. After my service, I was then told I couldn't use ClassPass because I hadn't booked through the app--even though the same employee who performed my service was the person who originally told me I didn't need to. Their explanation was that they're "fairly new on ClassPass and still figuring it out." I understand being new to the platform, but their mistake and repeated misinformation should not cost the customer money. I paid for the service, but I won't be returning and will be reporting the experience to ClassPass. If you're going to participate in ClassPass, your staff should understand how it works and honor what customers are told.

i finally caved and came here for a lash lift, and my technician Tran T was incredible. i've been…read moregetting lash lifts from a different place for several years now (thread bar), but decided to change it up after never being fully happy with my lash experience. while definitely more expensive, Tran did such an incredible job with my lashes that i don't think i can go to anyone else. she was so patient and sweet, and explained everything about lash lifts (and also about lash extensions since i inquired). she was very knowledgeable and made sure i felt comfortable. i never knew there were so many different types of lash lifts, my old place never gave me a choice in curl. i feel like this experience truly opened my eyes to what a good experience should be like. Tran was so warm and made sure i was comfortable the whole time. i didn't experience any discomfort during my lash lift (vs at my old place i often experienced burning/tearing) and i even fell asleep for most of the appointment. i rebooked for 6 weeks and can't wait to be back!

I used their online system to book and pay for the service in advance. The tip was taken via venmo. I booked for any available tech & my tech assigned was Liliya (or Lily). I arrived 15 minutes early and she was already there ready to take me. We talked about a desired color as well as any other specifics. Liliya knew what she was doing, I can tell she has experience. I trusted her with the color choice and shaping & she did an amazing job. Due to pregnancy, my eyebrows thinned out but she was able to return me my original pre-pregnancy shape. She took her time & did not rush. I would come back to see her again. However...without taking any stars off because I did enjoy my first time here. I noticed that one of the techs who was not attending to any client at the time of the arrival was not particularly friendly. Two stars off because one woman who works here earlier in the week (maybe Sundays or Tuesdays?) really botched my eyebrows a couple times. The first time she ripped a large chunk of hair out that I'm still growing back six months later. I gave her another chance (mistakes happen). During this second session, I explicitly asked her not to thread the inner corners of my eyebrows because I'm growing them in. She proceeded to start threading that exact section after I told her not to and I had to literally stop her in the middle of what she was doing. During both sessions, she was aloof, arrogant, and clearly wasn't listening to anything I was saying. Because of these experiences I went to a new brow place right before my wedding because I couldn't trust the quality or service here right before such a big event. The new place did such a fantastic job that unfortunately they've gained a customer and Elegant Brows has lost one. Feedback to the owners: most of your team is lovely. Providing feedback to the woman who works earlier in the week is needed to ensure consistent quality and customer satisfaction.

I really am overdue to return. Had my first brow threading experience and the results were amazing…read more- I used to wax but I'm definitely going this route for now on. There were two people ahead of me when I walked in but they only took like 5-10 minutes so I wasn't there long. I told her it was my first time and she was very kind and assured me that I'd love it.
