Robert was SUCH a good teacher! My mom and I were pretty nervous, but it was so much easier and fun than I anticipated (and I was already really excited!) it was relaxing and engaging and the atmosphere of the studio is so inviting. I want to bring everyone I know back for more!

I took my team here for a work event and had an amazing time! Our instructor was very thorough, but also gave us our space at times where we would just be painting away and we could ask questions as needed. They also had fun music playing in the background. You could also purchase wine or seltzers at the bar that they had before you started and during your painting time as well. It was very informative from the start to the end and I definitely recommend coming here with friends or maybe a work event.

SO MUCH FUN! I have never done a paint and wine event. My friend signed us up on a whim. It was about 2 hours long and we painted a pineapple! The instructor was amazing -- explaining things so well and really engaging the entire room. They have a tiny bar in the corner where you can buy your wine and beer. They also have some snacks, like pretzels. The painting event was awesome. I had so much fun and really enjoyed the entire experience. I will definitely be back again with friends and family! Also side note, tip your instructor! They have a tip jar next to their area in the front. It was empty when I dropped $20 in. It was well deserved but I feel like nobody knew it was available to be done!

My friend and I loved our visit to The Brush Bar! I've been to other painting studios and The Brush Bar is by far the best. The other studio I've been to had large classes (50+ people), it was noisy, crowded, and impersonal. The Brush Bar is the complete opposite. I loved the small class size. Great location near Old Town Scottsdale, and close to great restaurants and bars for before and after the class. Inside The Brush Bar is intimate and quaint. The instructor was friendly, super helpful, and walked us through the painting step-by-step. He event went into greater detail on how to complete trickier parts of the painting, which I really appreciated. The other staff there that night were also extremely friendly! The price is more affordable than other painting studios in the area, and even includes one free drink! I highly recommend The Brush Bar for anyone looking for a fun, creative activity. It was a great experience and I will definitely be back!

I love this place. Little did I know I was an amateur Picasso and Bob Ross. I've held a few company events here and we've had a great time. I've attended a few guided paint nights too and though I was sightly intimidated initially, the instructor was great and said to not focus on what it looks like at that moment but wait till the end. And not everyone's is going to look the same. Once I was finished it totally came together! Can't wait for the next paint night!

First went here for a team offsite and was really impressed. I was very nervous about coming here because I have no artistic skill at all. The instructor made the class fun and enjoyable. The directions were very easy to follow and I enjoyed every minute of it. They turned me into someone that actually believes he has some artistic skills. Lookout world haha. The drink options were great as well and were fairly priced. I definitely want to come back here with my girlfriend for a date night.

Saturday Mimosa Morning painting - Lily Pads.

I've taken a real interest in painting for fun so I thought it'd be fun to check out The Brush Bar. The painting class I had chosen to partake in was of Lily Pads on a Saturday morning. Initially, I thought it was a bit more expensive than other places I've been to but I liked that the cost of the class included a drink ticket and some snacks (while they lasted). When I arrived, it was already getting busy at the front but I was soon checked in & given a ticket for my drink. The thing that I found a bit off-putting when I saw where I was seated was that the person sitting next to me was literally RIGHT next to me. There really wasn't much room to keep all my things (the paint plate, paint cup with brushes, & my drink cup) let alone to comfortably paint. Every single seat in this class was full so there wasn't much room for shifting around, but I'm glad that I was on the end of the row so I had at least one side open. Just a note: they do "assign" you a seat so you will not get to pick where you sit (at least my friend & I didn't). In general, I thought the class was alright. The instructions weren't always clear and the instructor was moving at a fast pace. Since I'm not good at painting, I found that a little more direction would've been beneficial, however, my painting turned out okay. I've browsed the calendar a few times & have seen some interesting options on there. They seem to repeat the paintings which is good. I'm not entirely certain if I'll be a frequent visitor here, but I'll probably be back sometime. And one last note (regarding parking since I always worry about that in Old Town): the Saturday morning class was early & the shops around the Brush Bar weren't open so I found a spot right in front. If the street parking is full, there is a parking garage within walking distance!

Amazing experience here at The Brush Bar. We booked in advance for our Galentines day with the girls, the cute cherries seemed appropriate for the day :) The instructor was really nice, patient and super talented. I really enjoyed their music playlist while sipping mimosas! This is not a walk in establishment, not BYOB but they do have a limited bar (beer, wine, and mimosas) read more

My boyfriend surprised me with an amazing session led by Jamie at the brush bar. The setting is perfect for you and a friend, or a group. Jamie and Lauren had fun music on and the rose was just what we needed to get the creative juices flowing. Highly recommend this place! read more

My friend and I went to a paint and sip class tonight and The Brush Bar and it was so much fun! The instructor shows you step by step how to paint and gives you tips on how to get the desired look. Everyone's looks different at the end of the night, and it's so much fun seeing what everyone comes up with. Tonight was a small class so it was more personal and we all made small talk. Definitely would take another class here and perfect for a birthday or celebration! read more

I organized a session for our church group here and it was EXCELLENT! They were incredibly helpful and informative with the organizational part, and the instructor was patient and helpful during the class. We were able to bring snacks and our own non alcoholic drinks in addition to ordering wine there. It was a fun time for all! read more

We came here for a team activity, and it was perfect! Lauren was extremely easy to organize and book with via email, and Robert was such an accommodating and engaging instructor the night of. The whole thing takes two hours and is worth every dollar because you have a blast, and you walk away with a painting you created yourself. They have a bar as well. Such a fun time at a great local business that I recommend you check out! read more

Nice music playlist! Class is easy as usual. I love that the instructor told us step by step and the useful techniques. We went there on Friday and the class was full. We booked the class in advance. The ticket comes with one free drink (alcohol or non-alcohol) and free cookies. It is always interesting to see other classmate paintings. We all have different imagination and styles. And we got our group picture taken (of course!) with our paintings. read more

The instructor.....patient and clear The music.....mixed but perfectly fluid - I was singing 80% of the time The location....inspiring The bar....wide variety and super friendly bar tender The material...curated The timing of the class....didn't even notice because I was really into it! We had a fun time. I love this studio. Its so cute and its in the heart of Scottsdale. The instructor was very laid back, he didn't rush and he gave easy to follow instructions. The lady checking people in was also very sweet and funny. Together they made the studio feel very welcoming and mellow. I love that they have extra paint for you to access on your own without bothering anyone. I always feel uncomfortable when I have to interrupt an instructor to ask for more paint at other sip and paint studios. I would love to come back here soon. My only wish is that their sits were just regular chairs, my butt really hurt after the 2 hour paint session lol read more

Had so much fun here with my Mom when she was visiting. The instructor was awesome! He did a great job. You get one free drink ticket, and all painting utensils that you need. We were there for about 2-2 1/2 hours for the 11:00 am Sunday session. Will definitely be back! read more

Went here for a friends birthday and had a blast! Not sure what the painting was called but we did a sunset over a city. The studio is set up super cute and the staff is very friendly. I recommend to make a reservation as it does get busy and fill up fast. You can see the paintings online before booking your event to know the availability. I was surprised at how easy they make it to paint. Even if your not an artist the way they organize the instructions makes it very easy to follow to create a beautiful painting. And if you are an artist it would be easy to follow the instructor or create your own masterpiece. A lot of fun for a girls night out to have a glass of wine or two and laugh with your friends as your not sure how your painting will turn out. Highly recommend (: thank you! read more

What a great way to spend time with friends! The Brush Bar allows for pick up on Friday and Saturday between 2pm-5pm. My friend Hannah and I decided on the Christmas Cactus. I had brushes from a previous kit so I opted for the kit without the brushes which was $30 per kit. Not too bad for all the things included in the provided art box such as the canvas, paints jars, the instructions, some paint palates, an apron, some paper to keep your space clean, paper towels and a sharpie. The Christmas Cactus was very detailed and Robert was able to walk us through the painting details step by step. I did a live paint class and was struggling to follow along in some parts, the video although not as personal with the instructor allowed for pauses and personal time with friends. I was able to take a little break to bake and eat some chocolate chip cookies! We had an awesome time and I would definitely recommend for a little get together with friends and family that is unique and still in the comfort of your own home! read more

Big fan of The Brush Bar. I participated in the Yelp Event while in quarantine with my family - Robert made it super fun and inviting and my painting didn't turn out all that bad. Ended up booking a virtual holiday party with them for my staff - Robert again had a fun play list prepared and guided us through a cactus painting. Very fun! Would highly recommend their live events, but they also have pre-recorded videos you can follow along to. Looking forward to painting with them again soon. read more

The Brush Bar is just fabulous. The staff, the drinks, the painting, it's all great. My boyfriend I bought a package of four so we would take our mother's as a Christmas present and they both had such a fun time, it was awesome. We chose to do one of their "Happy Hour" classes on a Saturday at 3pm. The good thing about the happy hour classes is that they are only $30 a person versus their normal $40 price. They don't have as many options for the happy hour class but if you're looking to save a little bit of money I'd suggest waiting until they post a happy hour class that you're interested in. Otherwise, they have a large variety of paintings to choose from. Go on their website and check out their calendar, it lists the time, price, and shows a picture of the painting that they will be doing. Occasionally they have specials like for Valentine's Day to do a "couple's painting". They also have family painting days too. I really like the layout of the studio and the space given to each person. I've been to another painting class in another part of town and felt crammed in there so aesthetically, The Brush Bar knows what's up. They also have a good selection of wines and beers to choose from which you get a drink voucher for when signing up for a class. They also have a small boutique of fashionable women's clothing at the front of the store to browse when waiting for the class to start or upon finishing. The staff was incredibly friendly and helped you through the painting process step by step. I always like to step outside of the box and change up the color schemes to my very liking. If you're looking to try one of these painting classes for the first time, The Brush Bar is the place to do it. I will be heading back for more in the future!! read more

What a great idea! My girl friends and I signed up to take a class this past weekend, something fun and different we thought. It was a blast! The staff is awesome, witty teacher, great selection at the bar area, and they sell by the bottle! Bonus! This place is great for a girls night, young people, old people, people with zero artistic talent, those who have been painting for years and anyone in between. You have the freedom to go off the grid and paint anything you wish, replicate any picture they have on the walls or follow along with the instructor. We all decided to follow the instructor but took some artistic liberties with the coloring. The other great thing is they are located right in the heart of Old Town so once you are finished with class you are just a few steps away from a dinner spot to any bar to start out the rest of your evening. Went here for first time in Oct 2013 and had a fantastic time! Attended through a Meetup.com event so it was a fun group. We were reserved for a Sunday (I believe?) morning and had muffins/scones, and oodles of wine/champs. Everything was laid out perfectly - down to easels, canvas, assorted brushes, and pallet w/a buffett of colors to snag. The instructor has a headpiece on so her voice is amplified the entire time throughout the studio - genius! She's leading us very carefully and treating us like the mere amateurs we are. Also fab! On this particular day, we were to produce a bowl of Autumn harvest veggies. Not a super-great choice, but I was still super-stoked! The instructor was great - she was very clear and even got off of her little stage and walked through the room in interactive way guiding and praising where needed. NOTE: She LOVED my carrots. ;) The alcohol helps, not only is it fun, but it lowered my inhibitions thus made better art. Makes sense, right? Then, it was over and everyone took group pictures. Realllyy fun! I went on a mimosa morning and they provided one drink and complimentary coffee and pastries. The teacher went at a good pace, painting was so fun, and being able to bring it home is awesome. It is great alone or with a buddy, but would also be a great place for a team bonding event or birthday party. My one qualm was that the instructor kept pushing us to buy drinks. It was really annoying and he kept trying to sell us. It's morning and I'm here to paint fish, not drink like one! read more

SERIOUSLY, ONE OF THE BEST MEMORIES YET ! I bought my boyfriend the a Nightmare Before Christmas painting class with cocktails. We both had mimosas, which helped us loosen up and paint freely! Brush Bar is AWESOME! I have been here 3 times now and they have always delivered a super fun time! It's a great event for any group, as I've been here for a friend's birthday, date night with my fiance and team building with my employees. All of the instructors are fun, helpful, and completely supportive of testing your own artistic limits. They have a great cocktail selection, a super cute boutique, and the whole room set up is spacious and inspiring with all the fun artwork hanging around you. I love my picture, and when I was here, I had a great time. I love to paint and had a lot of fun, but 5 stars for the place and instruction is a bit much (at least for my experience). The people are great with pleasant attitudes. But the place is small and jammed in - is very humid and smells very strongly like mold. In addition, the painting instruction was not so good. The artist simply did not instruct. He just sat up there painting - saying do what I do. We did leaves on a tree and he still did not tell us the tips about pressure and using specific brushes. And we blended the background, but he did not instruct us on blending techniques either. I had fun, but I was disappointed. $40.00 is a lot of money to spend and I at least want a little bit of instruction. Plus the place was uncomfortable, HOT and humid and it smelled :( I'd love to keep doing this, but just not here. Sorry guys. You are friendly, but feel short for me. read more

This place is awesome! I came here last night for my sister's birthday party and we had a BLAST! The price includes a beverage and you can choose from a great selection. I had a yummy Pinot Grigio and I tasted my friend's sangria and it was delicious! They also had a nice spread of snacks for us as well - crackers and cheese, cupcakes, carmel corn, cookies...it was adorable. We just happened to come on Ladies Night and I highly recommend it. They have an awesome music playlist, a champagne toast, and prize giveaways! We also got a gift bag with nail polish, nail file, cute owl magnets, and coupons for cupcakes and body wraps. There were also vendors there (a body wrap company and origami owl jewelry). Fantastic! The instruction was easy to follow and our instructor was up beat and encouraging. She came around to answer any questions and give positive feedback. The staff was amazing as well. They were all really warm, friendly, and helpful. I can't wait to come back. They way she set them up all connected and anchored down with engineering magic made the design super sturdy and locked in-place. This wasn't like a "balloon garland" as much as it was like a sculpture. There's just no way to "DIY" this kind of decoration. Her prices are incredibly reasonable, but when I initially started planning for my daughter's 2nd bday, I was on the fence about spending money on decor. That being said, of all the things I did for my daughter's birthday, the balloons were our favorite hands down! If I had to do everything over again and cut my budget, I'd sooner drop anything else before Pop of Color. Fun night! I had a friend visiting me from out of town, so I went to their website and reserved a night at The Brush Bar for this peacock painting we liked. When we got there we realized the wrong year had popped up on the calendar online, and we had booked for 2014. The girls working were so understanding and friendly. We were totally fine with doing a different painting scheduled for that night, but they told us we could do the peacock that we signed up for, and helped us out individually. A few glasses of wine and Aretha Franklin songs later, we had our beautiful peacocks and some great laughs. Totally recommend this for a fun night out. read more

My husband and i wanted to do something fun to do that was out of the heat so we decided to go to the Brush Bar. We were greeted by a friendly and happy staff member when we arrived and offered a Mimosa...lively music was being played to set the tone! The instructor explained how to paint the picture and we were able to take our time and enjoy the process. We were surprised be the painting was actually quite easy to paint even after a Mimosa or two:) I'm not very artistic but it was easy to follow along at a relaxing pace. I took my mom and her best friend for my mom's birthday. It was our first time and blew our every expectation out of the water!
