I absolutely love The Buff. Its a great place to go when you have friends/family visiting, despite the long waits. The food never disappoints and there are plenty of options for picky eaters. Went here for mothers day brunch. The food was amazing and its pretty hard to beat 99 cent mimosas and bloody mary's. The atmosphere was cool, liked the decor and it would be fun to be there when they open up the garage doors to the outside. The food was priced well for the quality and the service was pretty fast. Born and raised in Boulder, My humble advice to a 1st time visitors is.... if you're looking for a breakfast place to dine you won't go wrong with The Buff. Regarding the Buff, I recommend; arriving early or on a non crazy day (weekend) unless, you're willing to wait through the busy times. Great food, drinks and staff! Thank you, THANK YOU for allowing people to order half orders on meals that are reasonable to split up. As a petite woman, it's extremely unreasonable to think I can eat as much as most restaurants serve. This will likely bring us back there, in addition to the really good meals. Hands down the best brunch you're ever going to have. After being told 'this is the best breakfast in boulder', I am more than disappointed. My wife and I headed in, in search of an exceptional breakfast and walked out soon after food arrived (an hour later). I ordered the saddlebags as they were recommended by a friend of the owner, who assured me that "everything here is amazing". The description from the menu is : "PANCAKES FILLED WITH YOUR CHOICE OF DICED BACON, SLICED SAUSAGE, OR DICED HAM, TOPPED WITH TWO EGGS". Sounds great right? Nope. By "filled" they mean that they mix meat directly into the pancake batter and then grill up to giant thick pancakes that gag you with starch. With the amount of batter per pancake, this meal would be better served as 4-6 pancakes, but instead its cooked as 2 over thick cakes blended with chunks of meat. The only way to make it palatable is to smother them with syrup. but since they are topped with eggs (as in the eggs are placed directly atop the mess), there is no comfortable way to eat. Resulting in a very awkward dish. The waitress said that it may have been rushed as the place was packed. And it was packed with college kids. Wrong answer. If the quality of your food begins to drop because of traffic you need to either 1. hire more people to handle the load, 2. restrict traffic. Poor quality food, and excuses are being touted as the best breakfast in boulder, and thats not ok. read more

My fiancé and I love this restaurant. It gets really crowded but we try to get there before 9am and there is rarely a wait. It's perfect for a nice brunch for 2 or to take the whole family when they visit. I've always had great service. They have a great coffee bar with cool drinks. The menu has a lot of variety, I've been several times and never ordered the same thing. This is a very Boulder place and I definitely recommend it! Great service, great food, perfect for those of us on a budget without compromising the food itself, which is fantastic by the way. The atmosphere is really fun too. Also, we've been to this place numerous times, and never had an issue with any of our servers, they've all been excellent. They have mimosas or bloody Mary's for 99 cents (up to 3 max). You can get sweet or savory at any time. It's a great place, and I will always recommend to family and friends looking for a wallet friendly, fun place to eat. The ONLY downside is they don't take reservations, and every single time we've gone, it's always been an hour or more wait time. Plus, parking is ALWAYS an issue. I've been going to The Buff forever, but hadn't been there for ages because it had become a bit tired. I was sad when I heard their building was going to be demolished, but delighted when I learned that they were moving right across the street to the building that was originally The Black-Eyed Pea and later the Original Pancake House. I've been twice to the new place and the move has brought new life. In the first place, the decor is terrific. It looks like a complety new space, but still feels like The Buff. I was not impressed. For all the hype this place gets, I was pretty disappointed. They hardly have any vegan options at all. Which is absolutely ridiculous considering Boulder is one of the most vegan friendliest towns in the country. You would think that restaurant owners would be more mindful of people who like to live compassionately and don't want to partake in the eating of animals and their secretions. That being said, I like the layout of this restaurant, the atmosphere, and the kindness of the staff. It's kind of an awkward location but that doesn't seem to deter people one bit. Wonderful potential, but please expand your horizon of breakfast foods. I promise there is more out there than just bacon, eggs, and cheese. Not to mention a bigger variety means a bigger consumer pool! The plant based population is growing by the day. There are many cookbooks and other resources that can help branch out. The brunch I experienced here was one of the highlights of our trip to CO. It is such a cool hole in the wall spot with a down home feel, friendly service and amazing food. We went on a Sunday so there was a 40 minute wait but I take that as a good sign of good food. We actually walked across the street to window shop for a bit until heading back just before our name was called. Our party consisted of 7 people and between us ordered the Ole, the Macho Chimichanga, the Corn Beef Hash and the Chicken & French Toast. Everything was jam packed with flavor and portion sizes were more than decent. I really liked my chicken and french toast combo and two servers there commented that it happened to be their favorite item on the menu too. We also tried the pecan caramel quesadilla and loved it. It's a little rich so you definitely feel like you are eating dessert. I would actually opt to eat it after my savory breakfast meal to satisfy my sweet tooth that almost always kicks in after a meal. Came in here while I was in town for a wedding with my boyfriend and cousin. This place is seriously good. 1$ mimosas and great service. All natural and organic eggs and the bacon is amazing. They serve great omelettes, French toast and waffles but the pancakes with bacon or sausage in them has to be one of the best! This is a MUST to stop at if you're in the Boulder area.
