I ordered $8,500 in Calacatta gold marble tile from this company. The mosaic tile sheets are from different lots and some of the sheets absorbed moisture and completely discolored after grouting and left my shower floor looking like a checker board. I sent the company photos and they gave me a 50% refund on the mosaic tile but I'm left with a shower floor that I need to pay to rip up. Really disappointed. read more

This place is the best hidden secret if you are a marble lover like myself. I have purchased from them previously several years ago for a bathroom remodel we did and was happy with not only the pricing but the quality of the stone. Fast forward to our current project where we have purchased all of our marble backsplash and shower tiles from The Builder Depot. I have spoken with their customer service a number of times before ordering and they have always been super friendly and helpful. I even ordered sample of tiles we were considering before making the big purchase, and I can't stress enough how important that is to see a sample of the actual product before committing to it. I've had a total of 3 freight shipments delivered at various times during our project and everything went well. The tiles were packaged and protected with very minimal (if any) damage during transit all the way to California. I'm not done with the project yet but am happy with what has been installed so far. I can never go back to getting any marble tiles from the big box stores with their pricing and inconsistent quality. I'm a happy customer! read more

I received the order in record time, but it was not what was represented on the website. I ordered white split face mosaic tile with gray veining. I was sent solid white. The Builder Depot refused to pay for return postage so I ended up keeping tile that I couldn't use. It would have cost more than the tiles were worth to send them back, and I simply would not pay them again to send out the correct tile. Going local was my best bet, I paid a little more but whatever I don't use can be easily refunded without a restocking fee and no huge delivery charges. I am just thankful that I only purchased three tiles for sample reasons. I couldn't imagine returning 10 boxes of carrara marble because I was sent the wrong color. read more

I ordered some tile months ago and only realized yesterday that I hadn't ordered enough. I immediately went online and ordered 5 more tiles to complete the project. I'm in the middle of renovating my house and could not find the tile I needed for my kitchen wall. A local retailer in California called their vendor to see who would have it in stock. Builders Depot had some and was one of the only places that had enough for me to cover the sq footage I needed. It turns out the product my wife liked at the local place was discontinued so if we wanted to get it we would need to order the stock left over from BDD. David was a huge help. He immediately pulled the stock and took my information a week later we received the tile ( we ordered 2 extra) and now we are about to install it in our kitchen. Then unfortunately our apartment plans fell through and needed to cancel the order last minute. From a consumer standpoint, this company runs exceptionally well. They have an online blog which addresses all the concerns I had ordering something of value, sight-unseen. They are very responsive in returning emails and answering questions. This company delivers what they promise. I have made three orders now, and they have all arrived far sooner than I expected. The quality of the product is exceptional. Everything has been well-packaged. It's nice to deal with a company that has a long term vision in place, and it shows. From the layout of the website, to order execution, someone has put a lot of thought into making things work smoothly. My only advice is to make sure you know which items require palletized shipping, so that you order enough the first go-around. We ordered samples on a Friday and they arrived on Tuesday morning the following week. We had been looking at the exact same tiles for 3x time the price in a local tile shop. Never before have I had such a terrible experience ordering something from a company on the Internet. I placed an order for marble tile from THE BUILDER DEPOT in early March that totaled over $2600. You'd think an order totaling that much the vendor would be diligent about handling the order and caring for their customer. I received an email saying the order had been shipped but then never heard from them again. Time went by and I never got the order. I inquired and was told it was held up in St. Louis. Their explanation sounded fishy so I checked with the carrier and was told my order was lost. At no point did THE BUILDER DEPOT offer to send me another order or do anything to make up for this delay. In fact, they said sending another order would merely cause future delays. They buried their head in the sand and hoped I would go away. I repeatedly got the runaround. I ended up canceling the order after going back and forth with lies and stalling from both them and the freight company. I strongly advise anyone considering ordering from THE BUILDER DEPOT to go elsewhere. This process took two months and I have nothing to show for it. I placed an order for three tile samples on a Thursday morning and received them on Saturday morning! I was actually in a rush and had wanted to pay to expedite the order, but I didn't see an option to do that and I didn't write to them asking for expedited service. It was shipped USPS 2-day priority. The tile I received was beautiful but in the end I decided to stick with a local tile I'd already sourced, but I am impressed with the speed at which my samples were sent and will not hesitate to use this company again in the future! read more

I would HIGHLY recommend working with them -- they offer excellent pricing & stand behind their products & service. One of the tiles we selected arrived polished (shiny) rather than honed (matte). I'd placed the order correctly, but I was not looking forward to dealing with the error, as I assumed it would be a hassle. The folks at The Builder Depot (Stephen & David) totally surprised me with their AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE -- they offered me several options to remedy the situation and I picked the one that worked best for us. Bought ~$2500 in White Carrera Marble in July 2016 online and was disappointed with 1/3 of the 6x12" tile due to the color contrast of materials. The hex tile and cigar trim were perfect and consistent, but having to sort through 300+ tiles and separate for quality was a pain. We ended up with $500 extra of 6x12" tile that we wouldn't use due to the inconsistent coloring, thus the 3-star rating. The Builder Depot did refund the $500 for me, so good news on customer service. Shipping time, packing, & price were all 5-star. See the picture below - obviously you couldn't mount these next to each other, and 1/3 of the tiles were that darker color. More hassle, but probably still cheaper or near even to local dealers with the waste. read more

I have never experienced a more honest company and staff. The customer service that this company provides is second to none. I purchased some marble tile for my bathroom back in November and had it shipped to me. The tile was never opened or touched, other than glancing to make sure that it was the correct tile, until late January. The tile was damaged once I opened it finally. Per the return policy I should have been out of luck, but Ben was very kind and allowed for me to return it/ exchange it. More importantly to me, he never had an ill or condescending tone at all. I just received my first order from The Builder Depot. I ordered my kitchen backsplash of Arabasque white porcelain. First they sent samples, came fast, then I placed my order online after speaking to a helpful associate for a moment. My order went to Northern California from Georgia and was delivered timely and on a pallet. The pallet arrived broken down on the UPS truck as it may have slid in transport...but the tiles were opened at the curb and not a single broken one on any box! Whew! I'm about to place my second order for bath marble since I like their products and reps opened box and sent me pics of available stock. I hardly need a sample but shall get one anyway. Wow, I'm very impressed with The builder Depot. I had ordered some tiles for a project and they just did not work as I needed them to for the application. The Builder Depot refunded my account no questions asked without requiring me to ship the product back.
