I really enjoyed working with these people when building our house in Alpharetta. They were easy to work with and very fair on price.

My husband had a contractor build a deck from Midway's 'premium' wood. Since the first week that the boards were placed, they have cupped, cracked, and split. We had the store manager come out and they confirmed that what was placed down was premium. They offered to replace a handful of boards - that wouldn't even cover half of my deck. Next time I will make sure I know where my contractor is getting their supplies before hiring. I'm so disappointed in the quality of the wood and poor customer service at Midways. read more

I was looking for an alternative to Trex when replacing the PT boards on my deck. The big box stores had plenty to choose from, but the quality of the "real wood" products was poor. I stopped by Midway Building Products on the way to eat at Midway Meal House (a topic for another review) and asked about natural wood decking. Stan (owner/manager?) escorted me back to the warehouse and showed me their selection of pine decking. It uses a new process that leaves the wood more of a pale yellow instead of the greenish tint from traditional pressure treated lumber. Whats more, not a single knot anywhere. And I can stain it immediately - no waiting. After pricing out the job, I was pleasantly surprised that it would be less than half what Trex would cost and in my opinion, give a much better look for the finished product. Stan was knowledgeble and quite helpful in answering all my questions. While I still shop regularly at Lowes and Home Depot, it was a great experience shopping at Midway due to the superior quality of the merchandise and knowledge of the staff. read more

Do not go here for any supplies. The owner, is rude, disrespectful, loud, abrasive and does not honor his own products. He said from his own mouth that the contractors don't want clients knowing the real prices of the supplies. He admits to selling cheap materials that are inadequate and getting over on clients. The materials sold there are not of good quality hence the reason he won't honor his own receipts. read more

I have been dealing with Midway Building Supply for at least 20 years. They are not a big box home-center that is open on Sunday's. This is a traditional building supply company that provides straight forward, competitive pricing on a project by project basis. I know most of the guys at the counter and on the yard and they could not be more friendly and accommodating. They have access to all of the high end window and door manufacturers and have very knowledgeable sales people to help answer any questions. I myself am happy to spend my money with a locally owned small business than a multi-billion dollar home-center. read more

I read the previous review and was a little taken back that she (the reviewer) would consider what the man said a sexist comment. I own a landscape supply business and over the years there is more often times than not, a huge difference in what the wife likes and what the husband likes, so for decision making purposes it is always in everyone's best interest to have both parties present at the same time. It has often been said that if a marriage can withstand the building of a home, then it should stand the test of time. There is a lot of truth to that because there is ALWAYS a disagreement over something when it comes to projects of this magnitude. In this case, if the other party had disapproved of materials ordered and delivered to the lot, then they would be subject to an additional delivery fee plus a restocking fee. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think the last reviewer was way off base. I used Midway for replacing some hard-to-find large window sashes in my home, and I could not have been happier. They even arranged for someone to measure and then install them for me. I'm a female DIY home renovator and this is my top choice place to go for wood and molding supplies. I had similar experiences as the reviewer before when I've gone in IF I deal with the guys at the front desk. Not only do they (Front Desk Guys) pretend not to understand what I'm talking about, but they try to get me to purchase the highest end lumber that I don't need. Skip that, head back to the warehouse. Those guys are much more down to earth, SUPER DUPER helpful and don't talk to you like you don't know the right end of a hammer. They'll go through the lumber to make sure you get the best pieces, sometimes make a couple cuts for you if they aren't busy, make suggestions, and actually understand the difference between Craftsman molding and trendy molding. Their lumber blows the big box lumber out of the water. I try to remember when going to places like this that these aren't the most forward thinking men in the world but ask the questions that show you know what you're doing or trying to. I'm confused by the sexist review. I visited today, and I had no problem. I was greeted upon arrival, able to wander around unbothered, and generally treated well enough for a female remodeler. I know my way around a hardware store, so I didn't have any questions to ask, but I would have. I found the selection of one-of-a-kind cabinets and vanities awesome, but I just didn't need any of those. They have a little bit of everything, but just not what I was looking for, e.g., lighting.
