I met The Bumper Depot at the Goodguys Car Show in Washington and asked if they could chrome the aluminum turn-signal bezels for my 1964 C10. Lack of transparence. unethical and dishonest practices. Bumper Depot has a hidden clause in their warranty to deny chrome failure (on day one of delivery) and owner uses this to their benefit. Likewise, they have wording on the back of the invoice, where they can swap out your provided part with one of their own. This is problematic on its own, but I was not verbalized either of these by their local rep at the time of purchase with a 50% deposit. I only learned of this when I got a copy in-person nearly 2 weeks later. Owner also changes her own reasoning for denying warranty and makes false statements of customers to make the customer look like they are being unreasonable and the "bad guy". The warranty exclusion was clearly added because there are numerous consumer complaints of the same issue - unlike other reputable chroming businesses. This experience resulted from an attempted install of a core bumper supplied by Bumper Depot and reconditioned. Within four hours of picking up bumper from the local WA state rep. Gary Longmuir, the chrome cracked at two separate areas. this occurred at or below 50% of the factory GM torque specs using a calibrated hand torque wrench. I immediately called and texted images to Gary. Owner Janet Mullen contacted me and pushed her installation exclusion, claiming I "over-tightened" the bolts. she offered to pay for a rechroming at my own expense after I paid for shipping, or wait four months for a local pick-up. As an option, she offered a refund minus a 35% restocking fee and claimed her business has qualitiy chroming. When brought up in conversation, she would not acknowledge the plethora of similar customer complaints of early chrome failure, or the lack of similar complaints from her own competitors. Another issue, prior to this cracking, a previous bumper was provided that could not be mounted as it never had a quality control inspection - the bolt holes could not accept the bolts. Had two bumpers done. Complete junk. Chrome peeled off. Other chrome shops confirm, junk. Janice is a crook. Search up Bumper Depot in images. 100's of people don't lie. I'm the guy that you blamed for tightening the bolts too much Janet. Edit added : An easy way out for you to say you have no idea what or who. I bet that works every time. Several other chrome shops have commented that they all have fixed your work before and that you often ship your work out of country for chroming. read more

"BEWARE" These people are complete rip offs. I bought a restored front bumper from them and found that the repairs were done incorrect. The brackets were welded in the wrong place. A factory welded nut was missing. Now they want me to pay shipping both ways and pay the all repairs and plating. Her famous saying is God Bless. Well, I learned the hard way with Janet at The Bumper Depot. I received my "rechromed" front bumper back for my 1965 Buick. The box it came in was perfect, so I didn't think otherwise to open it this past winter when my car was in storage. The box sat in my heated garage until a couple weeks ago when I opened it at the mechanic's shop to put it on my car. Upon opening the box, the bumper is cracked in the front, with the chrome coming off. On the backside of the bumper you can see the crack is pre-existing, with a poor attempt made to solder it. The chrome peeling off in the front is revealing rust underneath. On the far side of the bumper in another spot the chrome is coming off as well. Literally you can pick it off with your hand. All of this was ignored by Janet, who said all of this was an UPS issue who did all of this when it was shipped, not a warranty issue. So I'm told chrome coming off a bumper, rust underneath and a pre-existing crack is all my fault because I didn't file a claim with UPS, since they are to blame! I bought a rear bumper for my 1965 Ford Fairlane Sept. 8,2020, the bumper was placed in my garage for about 8 months while I was working on the car, after being on the car for less than 6 months the chrome began to bubble and peel, it looked like aluminum foil and there was rust under it. In speaking to Janet at Bumper Depot. on Dec. 12, 2023 she denies that there was rust and that it was part of the chroming material. The chrome work is very poor! Out of 16 pieces I had chromed one was decent. When I complained about it they said they would take care of it under warranty. There is no quality control and they just ship things out with out inspections. On top of that they did not properly insure a large shipment and when it was lost by they only covered the chroming costs and not full replacement costs. They also butchered up hubcaps by cutting them apart to take out dings. Never again! Stay away... read more

About six months ago I inherited my father's 1959 Ford Fairlane Custom 300. I came across a Bumper Depot advertisement on eBay, did a little research, and decided to have Bumper Depot do the chroming of my bumper. On or about August 30, 2021, I spoke to Janet, and mentioned that I also had a grill that needed chroming. She offered to exchange her metal chromed grill in exchange for my aluminum grill, so I agreed. On October 23, 2021, I traveled from Oceanside, California to Palmdale, California, because Janet assured me the grill would be metal and that Bumper Depot's triple plated chrome was second to none. When I arrived, I met with Janet's employee, Denice. When she brought out the bumpers, I asked that she unwrap the bumpers so that I could make sure the chroming did not have any blemishes. Immediately, I saw a blemish in one of the bumpers and pointed it out to Denice. When I mentioned it to Denice, she said she would speak to the owner and see if she could give me a discount because of the blemish. I quickly let her know, I would not be taking the bumper with the blemish. When Denice called Janet, she quickly came to the office and found another chromed bumper that did not have a blemish. When I brought my grill WITH brackets, into her shop, Janet brought out a grill WITHOUT brackets and I also realized the grill was not made of metal as Janet had agreed to provide me. I immediately I pointed out that I needed the brackets attached to the grill I brought in to exchange. She stated she couldn't remove the brackets since they were riveted into the grill. Having driven three hours to her shop, I told her I would attempt to remove the brackets on my father's Fairlane and would contact her in the next couple of days in the event I could not remove the brackets. On October 27, 2021, four days after purchasing the bumpers and grill from Bumper Depot, I called Janet and informed her that I had attempted to remove the brackets from my father's 1959 Fairlane Custom 300 and I was unable to salvage the brackets because they were breaking apart when I attempted to remove them. I told her that it was best if she just returned my grill With the attached brackets, because I didn't want her to remove the brackets since they were riveted into the grill, and in return I would return her chromed grill. In speaking to Janet, it was clear she did not want to return my grill and she repeatedly objected to my requests that she return my grill with the attached brackets. I said, look Janet, I don't want you to remove the brackets because they are riveted into the grill and I want to chrome the brackets with the grill. In the end Janet said, how about this, I will remove the brackets carefully and chrome them free of charge. Finally, I agreed and said fine, just send them to me and I will have the body shop carefully connect the brackets to my grill. On November 10, 2021, I received a call from Denice at Bumper Depot where she was attempting to charge me $405 for the chroming of the brackets. In a text to Janet on December 7, 2021, I again asked Janet that she just return my grill with its attached brackets, and I would return her chromed grill. Later that day, she responded by informing me that it was too late for a refund and goes on to inform me that she has it in text that I agreed to pay her $400 for her to chrome my brackets. I don't know if Janet lies or if she just forgets, because I NEVER agreed to pay her $400 for the chroming of the brackets. I have never written a yelp review, but feel this is necessary. If you decide to do business with Janet at Bumper Depot, be verrrryy careful in working with Janet and would even suggest that you record your agreement with Janet. I don't know if she intentionally defrauds or scams people, or if she simply forgets the terms of a verbal agreement, so be careful. Although I will be taking legal action to recover my brackets, because they are very hard to find, I just want to spare the next person a horrific experience like the one I had with Janet's bait and switch business practices at Bumper Depot. read more

I would not do business with this company (Bumper Depot) again! They took my original bumpers for a 1968 Mustang and said specifically that they would take off bumper brackets and "take care of me" . When I open the box the bumper brackets are gone. The owner "Janet" tells my they don't guarantee the brackets if left on. I knew something was up when I was supposed to get my bumpers and then I am told there was a blemish and they needed to do it over. This is after they had my bumpers for over 6 months. When I do open up the box to see my bumpers, my body man tells me they sent the wrong bumper! I ask Bumper Depot where is my bumper, and get told that I should of said something sooner and it's my fault. I guess I shouldn't of assumed I would get my own bumpers back, rather the wrong year front bumper? More of the same for over a month and now they tell me they have my original bumper with the brackets! Cool! I can't get it until I ship back their wrong bumper! Like it's my fault? I finally get the bumper only to find out it does not line up with the brackets that were purposely left on the car when the old bumper was taken off. Again, not my bumper but Janet says it is. She is such a dimwit! I will be taking them to court. Of course, my original bumper cannot be replaced. It was a completely original car until Janet lost my bumper. Bought front and rear bumpers for a 1956 Ford sedan from them.. 2 years later, the "chrome" is coming off in strips. They don't use copper, so you are basically throwing your money away. Avoid at all costs! read more

I shipped 10 parts to them for rechroming. They called me to tell me the cost, but they said they received only 8 parts, not 10. I never gave them the OK to do the work. I had about 5 or 6 conversations with them and every time they kept saying they received only 8 parts, not 10, so I told them to ship the parts back to me. Instead of shipping the parts back to me they rechromed them anyway, without my permission and than they said, Oh, we found the 2 missing parts. In the mean time I purchased the 2 parts they kept claiming they did not receive. The parts I purchased are used, need rechroming and cost me $238. They refuse to admit their error, they refuse to offer any kind of compensation for the parts I purchased that they lost and than claim to have found. Their return shipping charge is almost $50.00 It cost me $7.55 to ship the parts to them. The last conversation I had with them was today, June 4th. 2015 I was talking to Janet trying to work something out. She refuses to offer anything for causing me to spend $238.00 needlessly and she hung on me. I gave them my credit card # they have charged my credit card, but refuse to ship the parts back to me. The person I purchased the 2 parts from does not want the parts back, I am stuck with the parts. Their charges to do the work is almost $650. I had a bid from a local company for $387. to do the same work, but they would not get started on my parts until mid June and that is why I shipped the parts to Bumper Depot, now it will be mid or late June before I get the parts back, if ever, and it will cost me over twice as much going to bumper depot. I don't know the quality of their work, but I do know the quality of two of the people at bumper depot. I will never ever have them do any work for me again. read more

My experience with The Bumper Depot has been excellent. My brother and I ran across Janet at an automotive swap meet and what caught our attention was that they deliver (and their on-hand bumpers were beautiful). My brother bought a set for his car but the price for bumpers for my car (an old Lincoln with big heavy bumpers) were out of my price range. Instead of letting me walk away Janet asked if I had some cores, which I did, so she and I worked out a deal of cores and cash. They delivered a beautiful set of chrome bumpers to my house. They are like mirrors! I can't wait to get them on my Lincoln. I highly recommend this company. read more
