Incredibly nice people here, they talk to you like old friends. When we arrived, we were greeted with huge hugs, first time ever that has happened to me at a hotel. The lady was genuinely nice!! They also served complimentary breakfast daily, although I stuck to mostly fruit and smoothies, there were also pancakes served. The rooms were good, small, and had a refrigerator and microwave in them. This place is a bit out of the way though, and there is a hill you have to walk up coming back here. They also give you a code to get in when they lock up the main entrance. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to Downtown Cabo San Lucas. I also really enjoyed the pool, super clear and refreshing!! This place is for those who don't want to stay right in the mix of everything, it's a hotel that has a very local feel to it!!! read more

The Bungalows Hotel is a very cute quaint hotel situated about 1/4 mile or 10-15 minute walk to the downtown area that has a bunch of souvenir stores, restaurants, and large hotels along the water. The hostess, Ally, greeted us in the office with a hug and a refreshing juice, "welcome home." There are parking spaces just outside the hotel. The hotel is on a circular street with an island in the center. The door to the hotel is locked at night. You need a code to enter. Otherwise, the door is unlocked during the day. We had an apartment on the 2nd level with a set of stairs leading up to the gated door and a balcony. The decor was lovely and stylish. The balcony had seats at the outdoor bar which was attached to the indoor kitchen with windows separating them. There were cups, utensils, plates, refrigerator, microwave, and sink in the kitchen. The bathroom sink and shower worked fine, however the toilet had a low flush and took forever to fill up. There was an AC unit on the wall in both bedrooms, but we couldn't get them to work. Not sure if we just didn't know how to turn it on or if they weren't working. One of the bedrooms was just off the balcony. The other bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom was separate off the balcony. If you have young children, I would not recommend this upper apartment because of the one bedroom being a bit separated from the other area. The common area is only the balcony (as opposed to a living room or family room). Also, since there's a balcony, you need to be careful of young children climbing the low wall. I would have preferred the apartment that had a main shared living room instead of the balcony so that we could have all sat together more easily. (The balcony did have the bar with seats and 2 chairs, but it was just awkward.) This apartment had a gate for the door. There isn't a wood or metal door. The gate requires a key to operate from both the inside and outside of the door. To lock the door at night time while you are inside, you need to use the key. While this provides security by eliminating easy entry for intruders, it also means if there's an emergency, you need to have that key ready in order to exit the apartment, so keep it in a place where everyone knows where it is. We put the "Please make up room" sign out for one of the days but no one came to refresh the room. We had to go ask that someone clean out the trash baskets. We had been there for a few days by then. In the mornings, you could hear the occasional motorcycles or cars going by, the rooster crowing, and a couple dogs barking and birds chirping. In the evenings, there was a restaurant somewhere near that played music that I enjoyed listening to. While the various noises didn't bother us one bit, I overheard two people talking about how the noise bothered them. I actually liked hearing the birds sing, the rooster crow, the dogs barking faintly in the distance as we were waking up. Breakfast is AWESOME!! I would stay here again just for the breakfast! They serve the same dish to everyone, but if you want something different, you can request it. Every day the main breakfast item changed. Presentation is lovely. Food is yummy. Fruit smoothies are refreshing. There's also tea and coffee. Nearby, little birds are eating from the beautiful bird feeder. Red Bougainvillea decorate the area. The breakfast here is something we looked forward to every day. There's a cafe nearby (though I didn't go) and a restaurant next door. The restaurant didn't seem to get much business so we took that as a sign that it wasn't too good, so we didn't go. The route to walk to downtown is steep and there wasn't always a sidewalk or the sidewalk was broken up. If you have trouble walking, this isn't the hotel for you unless you have vehicle transportation. There's a convenience store about a block or two away where we bought water, juice, fruit, yogurt, soap, toothpaste, etc. Don't drink the water at the hotel. You should buy bottled water to use for brushing teeth, rinsing your mouth, etc. A tip about driving: Drivers slow down for a stop sign, but most don't actually stop. On one YouTube video, the YouTuber said he once got a ticket for rolling through the stop sign too slowly. And yep, we learned to just roll through. And we learned to stop or yield only when there's another car at the intersection. Quick Takeaway: Enjoy a rustic getaway off the beaten path in Cabo. It's within walking distance to the marina (6 blocks or so- a portion up hill- not on the beach). Breakfast (vegetarian) is included and freshly prepared with fresh smoothies, organic coffee, fruit plate and the daily fare (they will cater to dietary restrictions- just ask). They also offer free wifi, free parking and an ample pool to swim and soak in.The hosts make this place special and are willing to ensure your stay is exactly as you wish. Hot Tips: I would suggest renting a car so you may explore beyond the tourist central Marina. Chilano Beach is where they said the best snorkeling/swimming is and it's a $30USD taxi ride round trip (or $2USD Per Person Bus ride each way - you catch the bus down by the mall). We drove up to Todos Santos for the day and enjoyed the more laid back atmosphere (surfer and yogi vibe) and preferred it to Cabo. I would suggest taking a trip there to visit -- you can visit THE Hotel Califronia, sip margaritas and enjoy a deserted beach all to yourself. There is an OXXO (similar to 711 in the states) around the corner to grab water and Gatorade to stock the fridge. Be sure to visit a bank (or Costco if you have a membership) in town and exchange your USD to pesos (bring your passports for exchange) to maximize the exchange rate so you won't receive the 12/13 pesos to $1 USD like we did (ugh). read more

This review is a little late past our stay but well deserved. This bed and breakfast was absolutely amazing. From the second we walked in the door you are welcomed with warm hugs and made to feel right at home. Breakfast was very delicious and we loved all the fresh fruit and house made juices. We had a small suite with a hammock on our open patio. We were in heaven. Our room was clean and the decor was so cute. They even provide bottled water in your room and a French press to make coffee. We even spent a afternoon by their lovely pool before venturing out for the evening. So relaxing! The staff was more than accommodating in all aspects of our stay. This place is beautiful!!! Eric greeted us the second we walked in. Handed us fresh watermelon juice made there and asked if there was anything else we wanted. We stayed here for three nights and it was absolutely marvelous. Everyone was welcoming and kind and helpful, from offering us local dinner options to providing DVDs and beach towels. The breakfasts are phenomenal (at first I thought it would be a shame not to eat somewhere cute in Cabo but I didn't eat anything good in Cabo -- these breakfasts we're def the highlight of Cabo eating), and you will absolutely get your fill of food, coffee, fruit, and fresh juices and smoothies. The suite we picked was so cute! And then we got bumped for free to a nicer one because it was open. Ahmahhhhzing. It IS a bit of a walk from the beach and the Marina, but if you're going there for the whole day anyway, what's a little exercise there and back? This is by far one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed. I'm writing this review as a club next door blasts music all night long. It is nearly 4 am. And my walls are vibrating - and it hasn't stopped. I love staying at small business hotels. Rather than big, impersonal resorts. If you have followed me for years now, you know I always give an honest review and this one will be no different. I think it is very important that reviews on Yelp provide an objective overview. This one will be a bit harder than usual, so I'll break it down into two parts. That way, you will know if The Bungalows Hotel is for you or not. The good and the great includes the hosts, the location, the service, the gourmet breakfast, the beautiful, tropical lush interior courtyard filled with palm trees and flowers, the cool and cozy hatch-covered open patio for breakfast looking out at the heated pool surrounded by many comfortable chairs and chaise, the enchanting night lights, and the wonderful combination of birds, owls, doves and water fountains that set the mood for feeling the "ahhhh." This is a laid back paradise for those who want to be off the beaten path and try something different. The Bungalows does function more like a bed and breakfast, so you will get to know your wonderful hosts and call them friends by the end of your stay. No one is a stranger here. Erik, Anita and David made us feel special from day one. And, if that's not enough..... the ever-present fruit and fresh-juiced drinks are available all day. As well, if you need a taxi or want to rent a car, the staff take care of everything for you - your wish is their command. We found the service and friendly staff here to be the best we have ever encountered. My only complaint here would be the lack of "choice" for breakfast. Though each breakfast is delicious and well-prepared, only one option is cooked each day - there is no menu choice. Next, I'll touch on the things that were either not what we expected or could be improved upon. Or, it might it work for you if you're into the rustic! The bungalows are similar to a casita you would see in Santa Fe, NM. They have a good layout with small living room, dining area, kitchenette with sink and refrigerator, bedroom area, and private bathroom; and we loved our large attached and private patio with two lounge chairs and hammock, but we found a few things that disappointed us and made our week-long stay uncomfortable. First, when AC is an amenity, I expect more than a very old window-type unit that barely cools and is extremely noisy. Ours was located right over the bed. We found that it would freeze up and stop cooling after running for long periods of time and eventually found the best course of action was to use only the ceiling fans during the day and turn on the unit at night for sleeping; but, then you had to deal with the noise. The TV and DVD player were also a disappointment. There are no TV channels, but you can borrow 3 DVD's from the office per day. This would have been an OK option, but the DVD's would constantly stop or skip during the movie. Since we were not there for TV, we never complained, but I can imagine that those staying with kids would appreciate an upgrade from this dated, dreary option. Next, our bed was uncomfortable, had no headboard, and the pillows provided no support. The bed backed up to a window. This might not have been an issue either if there had been other comfortable furniture in the bungalow - but there was none. There was a very tiny couch we ended up using for one suitcase and a very, very uncomfortable chair in the living room. There was nowhere to just lean back and rest. The bathroom was a good size, but the shower head needed maintenance and the towels are rough like loofahs. There was a constant drip in the shower and the hot tap is dangerous - you cannot turn it off; you have to turn it slowly until there is a slight drip and go no further - if you do, it will turn the hot back on full force. This drove my husband nuts. The faucet at the kitchen sink was also so loose, it was coming completely out of its fitting. It never leaked or dripped, but it should be fixed. And, there's no sleeping in.... the windows are covered with very thin, white curtains. When the sun is up, you are up. All in all, the room accommodation was very rustic and just not what we expected. When you see photos and reviews regarding all the good of The Bungalows Hotel, you expect the same or more within your room. For us, this would, unfortunately, make us choose another location for our next visit to Cabo. read more

I cannot praise this hotel enough. It's so cute, so charming. You feel like you're home when you are there. Right off the bat, you are very warmly welcomed by Ale or Eric,. The two siblings who run the hotel. They are both a blast!. The hotel itself is very clean, very cutely decorated, very well maintained. The gardens are adorable,. I'm a plant lover and I couldn't get enough of the greenery, fruit trees and flowers. Everything about this Hotel is awesome, I'd stay here over a resort. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars and not 5 is because the TV has no signal, and the Wi-Fi is really sucky. But that was mostly my husband's concern, I was very happy with no tv blasting. We even enjoyed a beautiful evening outside our room, swinging on our personal hammock chair. I highly recommend this Hotel to anyone wanting something away from the crowds, yet 5 minutes away from the tourist stuff. You're in for a treat at this place. I absolutely love this place it reminds me of a bed and breakfast... comfortable, clean,and quiet..... the staff is amazing!! Erik who i believe is the owner is so welcoming. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are cozy apartment like feel that u just want to live in. Its only a few blocks away from the downtown area and beach. I stayed in a all-inclusive resort a couple days before staying here and I will definitely be returning to this place next time I visit Cabo. I want everyone to help this business!! I truly believe that The Bungalows is one of the best hotels in Cabo San Lucas. From the moment you get there, until the moment you leave, you feel like family. Every single person who works there makes you feel welcome and comfortable. It is a lovely little hotel where you get to know the people around you and feel good doing so, from employees to guests. They have an amazing breakfast every day and a beautiful little pool to keep you cool. There are hammocks in front of every room, which are very comfortable, when you just need a moment to relax. Just came home from a 4 day stay at The Bungalows. I don't usually do reviews, but I felt compelled to report how amazing this place is. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. You are greeted with warm words and a hug everyday. They make you feel as though you are family. The breakfast was different every morning but always delicious. When my friends and I asked for other items that weren't part of the breakfast that day, they happily obliged. The room are perfect - beds were super comfortable and cleaned everyday. The location is close to the town, so you can easily walk down the hill to the shops, restaurants, convenience stores.
