Unreliable. Unprofessional. No accountability. No people skills…read more This company has stuffed up my orders multiple times and yet I get treated with no respect at all. Today is Valentine's Day and they stuffed up majorly. I ordered lunch for my boyfriend scheduled to arrive at noon. Order was confirmed via email that the store has received the order. Five minutes to noon my boyfriend gets a call from a Cedric apologising and informing him that the store closed due to smoker problems. My boyfriend was very gracious on the phone to him. I, on the other hand being the sender, am furious. Nothing was communicated to me. This is not the first time they have done this right. So as a courtesy to me, they should have apologised to say the least TO ME! But no. They blocked me on their Facebook page and messenger, and they have deleted my account. Just a heads up... if they don't like you or if you accuse them of anything wrong you'll get treated the same way. I was accused of being rude. Rude? Really? They have made a mistake and won't own up to it, and I'm rude. My suggestion. Take your business elsewhere. These people are like infants trying to run a grown up business. I need to stop. There are no fancy contracts, no drama, and no surprises--just a handshake, a date, and a headcount. I tell Wayne when we're eating and how many mouths we need to feed, and he shows up on time, fully prepared, and ready to deliver. That kind of reliability is rare, and it means everything when you're feeding a large group. The food is consistently excellent, the service is smooth, and the whole operation reflects pride, experience, and family values. You can tell this is a family-owned business that genuinely cares about doing things right. When you find people you can trust completely, you stick with them--and that's exactly why we'll continue to use It's in the Sauce for future reunions. Highly recommended without hesitation.

Very average BBQ…read more.. I'm a self-admitted BBQ purist, impartial to NC BBQ, but have also had some of the best BBQ in TX (Terry Blacks, Goldees, and Franklin), and this is simply not TX BBQ. The restaurant is situated off the beaten path in the business district, but it's impossible to miss with the huge smoker sitting out front. It's a small restaurant with just a few tables and the ordering situation is a bit wonky (just one small window to order and pickup from). The staff was ultra-friendly and the food came out quick. As for the food, it was just okay... The BBQ itself wasn't bad, but it was definitely precut and kept in warmers (this would give a pit master down in TX a myocardial infarction as this is a huge "no no"); the sides were actually really good though. The total was about $30 for lunch, which to me was a bit high based on the quality of the BBQ. Overall... Not bad, not great, but not certainly TX BBQ.

I found Mel Eats Meals at the Casa Pacifica Food & Wine festival this June and when I sampled some…read moreof their food I was really impressed. The food was healthy yet tasted really good, what a concept? Lol. But seriously, upon getting the opportunity to sample their food and to learn that they were a local meal prep and delivery service out of the 805, I knew I had to give them a try. I was six months into actively going to the gym and the next step was to take control of my eating habits. The idea of having healthy meals portioned and cooked for me sounded like such a lifesaver and would take all of the work and prep out of cooking which was the major selling point. When doing a meal prep service I look at 1. Taste 2. Price 3. Variety of the Meals and 4. Simplicity of delivery/pickup. Mel Eats delivers on every aspect! First off all the good actually tastes really good. That's the most important, for it to be sustainable for me I have to like what I'm eating. I appreciate that they have three portion sizes to pick from. Some tailored at leaning out/weight loss, some just to maintain a healthy physique, or bulking for the gym bros/gals. It's very simple ordering the meals and customizing them online. I like that you can customize everything - from the protein, to the carb/sides, the veggies you want, and the sauces. Also they have two rotating weekly specials for meals and overnight oats. This is KEY. In needing variety and something exciting, I love that they have perfected bringing new bites to their weekly menus. Pricing is super reasonable in my opinion. The meals range from I think $14-$17 based on your portion size. Also the more meals you buy they take off $1-2 a plate. I usually walk away with a meal for each day, 5 days a week, under $65. You really can't beat it. Also delivery is only $7 which I think is awesome. Pickup throughout Ventura County is free at their set locations which is nice for those saving every dollar. I've done both delivery and pickup, both were seamless and easy. Aside from all of the great things I've already mentioned, the customer service here is A+. Everytime I reach out to them on their social media instagram page or through their customer service email they reply back same day. They truly make you feel like a valued customer and they are always professional and polite when I engage with them. I feel really lucky to have stumbled upon them this summer. I'm at four months of meals with these guys and I don't know what I'd do without them. Mel Eats is a lifesaver when it comes to meal prep and I'm happy I've gotten a few friends ordering from them. Everyone reports back being happy with this service and I hope more people find them because they are some of the best in this space.

There's an outdoor patio with birds swooping by for free entertainment, and they'll even bus tables when you're not looking. One thing to note: The menu is filled with lots & lots of good choices. A case of indecision threw me for a loop when I read over the menu. To limit down my 7 first choices (yes 7), I managed to decide on something locally caught or farmed. My first thought: If I'm at a harbor, I'd like to eat fresh fish that's locally harvested. I was craving FISH TACOS but discovered that they're "flash frozen fresh" and not local. Then I thought a bowl of BROPHY'S CLAM CHOWDER would be good under the same principle. They're not local clams. The FRESH CATCH FISH & CHIPS, however, were caught locally (but I had that the night before so the timing was off). Quickly, I pivoted and ordered my original first choice. * CAULIFLOWER SANDWICH * It's locally farmed. An unsung hero on the menu, it's made with pickled onions, large, breaded cauliflower patty, green onions, lettuce, and pickles. It's filled with a roasted garlic sriracha aioli that adds a nice kick and pulls all the flavors together. The portion size is also very filling. * KID'S CHEESEBURGER * My kiddo enjoyed the tots that came with it and we added some extra greens for a small up-charge. Worth it. The portion size was more adult-sized so it's a good value for your buck. Other tasty items on their menu: WAFFLE STICKS, AVO TOAST, and BREAKFAST BOWLS. There's also CORN DOGs, Grilled Cheese, and Seafood Salads. See why it was so tough to decide?! After all that contemplation and heavy decision-making, I built up a three-person line behind me. It seemed that a few senior locals were battling a case of getting hangry. I don't blame them, but I also think a good tip is to not go there too hungry because it'll be near impossible to order quickly. So please leave your case of the Hangries for the birds. The sun, harbor, and that view should be a reminder to chase it away when it starts to bubble up.

Last Sunday we were ready to get out of the relentless summer heat of the east side of the county,…read moreand headed for the coast. I told Dear Hubby that fish & chips at the harbor seemed like a great idea, and he agreed. Initially, I tried to get us a table upstairs at Brophy Brothers, overlooking the water. That was going to be about an hour's wait, so we retreated downstairs to Brophy's fast casual option - On The Alley. Essentially, it's the same fish & chips recipe, so all good there. The line was short and moved pretty quickly. While DH finished up ordering, I went out to the indoor-outdoor room to scout a table. I wasn't able to get one against the window, but we were still able to have a water view, just a bit further away. DH was hungry, so he ordered a burger, as well as the fish & chips. He shared a small portion of said burger, and it was really good. At a Brophy's establishment, I think of seafood, but thumbs up on that burger! The portion of fries they provided were extra generous. We missed having Adored Granddaughter with us, as she would have help demolish those fries! We brought some home to revive in the air fryer. I only had water, as they don't really have any beverage options that work with my restrictive dietary preferences. (i.e., no caffeine, and low- or no-sugar). The fish & chips hit the spot, although the fish was somewhat oilier than usual. DH got a cup of their delicious clam chowder, which was served with their delicious sourdough bread. That I got to have some of, and happier for it. Sunday afternoon at the harbor made for a great spot to people-watch. There were lots of folks who seemed like they had come from points east to get a break from the heat, just like us. We all tend to have a look that doesn't portray "Ventura local". Lots of young families, which was nice to see. Made us miss our granddaughter, for sure.
