Completely messed up our order. Asked for a double char. They gave me a vesiachar? Whatever that is. The didn't fulfill the entire order. The call line isn't much help either. How are we supposed to know whom you used for a Third party delivery. On top of that they also forgot my daughter's milkshake. Rather than make it right they stated I had to go to the store or fill out some form online that will take anywhere from 3-5 days to tetan response for a $5 milkshake. The fact that this establishment can't follow simple instructions or provide adequate assistance is beyond me. This burger is a mess. All of the food that arrived was stone cold. i stopped in here for lunch on a typical weekday and the place was extraordinarily crowded. It's not very spacious inside, so seating was at a premium. There are some tables outside, so that's a viable alternative weather permitting. Habit Burger has some very good special deals, which I suppose contributes to the chain's popularity. I've eaten at numerous other Habit Burger locations in the past, and I usually enjoy eating there. I come to this Habit location the most and it's a solid spot to stop for a burger and sides. This location is not far from the freeway which makes it convenient. They have a big parking lot (but it does get crowded and busy). I've learned to come off hours and it's always perfect for me. This location primarily has the screens that you order from on your own. However, for less savvy customers they will sometimes have one register open for those who want to place their order the old fashion way, with a live person. I used the screen today and it was super easy. Honestly faster than waiting in line to order with a staff member. Prices are reasonable in my opinion for the quality. I got a soda, burger and side for under $20. My food was made fresh to order and the food always hits - so for a chain I'm happy eating here every so often. Today I went for their special (because of the lent season) and ordered their Baja crispy fish sandwich. It was solid and a fun change from a burger. The fish batter was super crispy, which is a must! I also liked the slaw, chipotle sauce, and pickled onions. Only a slight bit of heat so pretty mild overall. Every time I come here, I have to order their tempura green beans, they are my favorite side and their ranch is really good here. Only bummer (I won't dock them a star) but on my visit today it looks like they got rid of their specialty Agua Fresca/juice station. I'm not a soda girl and sometimes I want variety outside of iced tea so I was bummed that they didn't have those good fruit drinks anymore... Oh well, just wanted to make a note of it. I used to be a district manager for McDonald's and I have seen both well run and poorly run restaurants. I have been going to this Habit(on Telephone Road) for the past 10 years and I am sorry that it has taken me so long to leave a review. I own several different businesses now and I also understand how hard it is to find good employees. I have a special order salad that I order almost every time I visit the establishment and not only do the cashiers and management know my order, but even the kitchen staff is familiar with it. I need to acknowlege Lorena and Paul, but also the whole staff, for being attentive and caring every time I come in. The restaurant is kept clean and they rarely run out of product. I hope the owner appreciates how great his or her staff is, and for how long I have seen them working there, I'm sure they are treated well. Keep up the great work; I know sometimes this is a thankless job, but you guys care a lot and it shows. read more

Stopped by for dinner recently and saw they had Patty Melts on the menu. They are one of my favorite sandwiches so I decided to try the Habit's version. So glad I did, because it was truly delicious! Truly large, too: the sandwich features two charburger patties. What makes the sandwich so great, though, is the Rye Bread that cradles those two melted cheese and grilled onion covered patties. The bread a place uses can make or break a patty melt. And the bread they use here, makes it! Makes it good. Generally, when I visit the Habit I almost never order a Double Charburger. I prefer a single patty. I have a very single-patty mindset. So, I didn't actually realize the Patty Melt I ordered was going to be a double. True, it is well described on the menu, but I hate reading menus standing up. Consequently, sometimes I miss important details, like number of patties. When I picked it up I thought, oh there's no way I'm going to finish that huge sandwich. It only took one bite to realize how misguided that thought was. It was one of the best patty melts I've had in years. I had no trouble finishing it off. I was glad it was a double. I savored every bite! When I was leaving I told the girl at the register how much I loved the patty melt. She said, glad you like it. You have until January 6 to come back and get yourself another one. Today 11/15 is Habit's anniversary, and they did 'Good Habits' Day to give back to Kids Hunger charity. Free Double char was given if customers also donated $1 to the charity. What a great company to organize such giving! I was there on a super rainy day before 5pm and it was still crowded. The young man working the cash line was super courteous and efficient, kudos to him for handling the steady stream of customers. I am generally impressed with Habit's food quality for price. and now I'm more impressed with their Good Habits Day. read more

Updates review. If my house was destroyed in a fire, no worries I can go to the Habit on Telephone to feel like I'm eating at home with family. If an earthquake devastated Ventura the whole town would go to the Telephone Habit because the door is always open and they all smile when you walk in. Absolute WORST salad ever.... The dressing they they charge $1 for was horrible and runny very thin. I asked for no tomatoes and not onion but what I got was basically lettuce, a crumbled up Slice of cheese, the bacon wasn't even chopped up so a slice of bacon I chopped up and chicken. They forgot the egg. This salad used to be bomb. It was totally different. The salad had blue cheese crumbs instead of a slice of cheddar cheese. The burger joint has been here for a bit and generally is good. Hit or miss on consistency and cleanliness of the store...but that's generally secondary to them being so busy with limited space. They are indeed fast. And 80/20 on friendliness. Never encounter a rude employee, but you do have to beg sometimes to get attention. Like I was saying food is pretty good, but sometimes will be delivered the cold, stall fries. But that's like 20% of time. Love that they over a variety of peppers too! read more

We've been coming here for years to get a quick veggie burger. However, we learned today that they are no longer ordering Beyond burgers and only have their low quality veggie burger. This is a big bummer. The staff are great food is generally reliable, but for this vegetarian, no beyond burger is a dealbreaker. sadly, I will have to continue to look to other restaurants for quality veggie burgers Management, if you're reading this, please consider bringing back the beyond burger! DO NOT ORDER THROUGH THE APP. This is the SECOND TIME I have been shorted items from our order. This time it was the milk and ranch dressing for two finicky grandchildren. When I order from the app, it is generally for good reason. This time, we had our hands full with all of the grandkids over. There is NO WAY TO CONTACT THE STORE short of driving to the store itself. The APP IS OF NO HELP. The phone number leads to a call center, who can't help and can't transfer to the store. By the time I ran to our grocery store (which is closer to us than the Habit is) and getting the milk and dressing, all of our food was cold and barely edible. That wonderful aroma of grilled burgers that emanates from the Habit reminded me that they also serve grilled cheese sandwiches, which I have been craving, so I followed my nose inside. I also remembered that they serve good fresh brewed iced tea. There are several vegetarian choices on the menu, as well as a fish burger, but when my heart was set on grilled cheese, I refuse to be distracted. I had a bit of a wait because it is always busy, but I enjoyed one of their outdoor tables until my buzzer went off. This location is tucked away in a corner, so it is easy to forget it is here near Winco, and the ambiance is okay, but my sandwich was perfectly toasted with nicely melted cheese. read more

My wife had called in an order to go and when I went in to pick it up they had somehow lost the order , normally not a huge deal just inconvenient. One star for scamming customers. The FIRST time, the manager felt terrible and comped a milkshake after we were erroneously charged a $5 tip. It happened a SECOND time, and the usual gal at the counter was like - if you didn't pick an option it automatically selects the highest % tip!! You wave the chip over the reader and it automatically adds a tip. It was $15.22, and they charged $18.22 or 20% and could not reverse the charge. That's outright intentional deception, no fault to employees. This is on the owners/upper management. Fix your software now!! I'm sure the BBB would love to hear about this... Absolutely no complaints about the food, service is hit or miss but for the most part friendly service. I didn't care if I got one but to tell me 'I never get a complimentary with my order' upset me bc I always do. More than that was her unwillingness to simply communicate but give me horrible attitude over a question. Well today I went in and order my regular and another combo for my mom, and was given 4 complimentary ranches. We didn't ask for them nor pay for them but there they were. All I want is consistency to meet expectations. I will say that two combo meals at $12.98 plus a $6.99 off coupon does NOT come out to $26.44. I tried to talk to 'big boy' and he couldn't explain. Employees stood around and waited for me to react and after the first bad experience (and my elderly-evacuated from her home-mom with me) I said forget it and left. When I asked to exchange the ranch for honey mustard (without touching anything), the guy angrily threw it several feet into what I guess was a trash. I was shocked and quietly left..( In the car, I noticed that the French fries were cold. They are usually so so good! I was further disappointed when I got home and viewed my chicken sandwich. I should call it a cibatta sandwich. Big dry piece of bread with a tiny sliver of chicken and hardly a scrap of lettuce. What happened, Habit? After reading recent reviews, I guess it's not just me. Okay so it looks like The Habit won't be a business I'll be supporting anymore. They've gone "High Tech" which I don't mind, but what I do mind is how unfortunately BAD their new digital menu is. I walked in to get just their simple Charburger combo and all I wanted to do is replace the French fries with the green beans. Can you do that? No. No, you can't. I asked the woman working there HOW can I order just the #1 - Charburger with Cheese and a side of the green beans. She said "You can't." So, in the past I ordered it that way but these days, with the new digital menu you cannot. That is absolutely ridiculous! I just said: "Well, then, I guess I won't be ordering my lunch here." And walked out. I'm all for high tech SMART businesses but whoever programmed this place's digital menu didn't know the meaning of Smart Tech, this menu was STUPID. Nobody wants to waste their time trying to figure out how to place an order with a digital menu that doesn't come with options such as replacing fries with something different like sweet potato fries or green beans. It's not intuitive and if you can't bundle it in a meal like you can when ordering from a live person then you'll loose customers. P.S. if it's still possible to order the way I've always done the woman who works there didn't tell me that. She just said "You can't." when asked how to order what I wanted. Came here to try the new cauliflower ( as I was told it was in season), and a pesto chicken sandwich. My chicken sandwich was raw and had blood in it. Keep in mind when you're hungry. Food looks good you take a bite and you assume it's going to be prepared right. I'm not the one to blast establishments, but definitely wont be back. The lady was dismissive of my concern. And looked into my eyes and stated we cook chicken medium rare. I been eating #TheHabit for over 15 years never once had this issue. Moral of the story, horrible customer service. I hadn't been to a Habit in months. I usually go there when I'm on the road. A lot had changed since my previous visit. There's fewer workers and more technology, but the prices were a lot higher. They had several new items, and I tried the fried chicken sandwich. Frankly, it was mediocre: the chicken breast was overcooked and dry; the slaw was runny. There are several fried chicken sandwiches in the fast food that are better and less costly. My wife liked the mango​ grilled chicken, so I gave a higher rating than I would have otherwise. read more
