More known for the drinks such as the beers on tap and some mules that are refreshing. The food is pretty basic stuff like pretzels, wings, and those types of things. Came in at lunch and it wasn't that busy for a weekend at least. It has a pretty good amount of space inside and out. There's a beer garden in the back open for summer. It's about $10 for a cocktail. Pretty good stuff like the Irish Mule, made with Jameson. Basic food on the menu however. There's greasy stuff like burgers and that if you want. It's $8 to get a couple of Jumbo Soft Pretzels. These are good to munch on with beer or whatever. Also they have cheese curds. These greasy things are among the good things for sharing. Get some great beers on tap and some cocktails. It has a pretty basic food menu. There's burgers, pretzels, and whatever.

The last two times I've had the burger (once at the restaurant and once at home) the smoked brisket has been dry. On my last occasion the bottom half of the bun was burnt. It was barely edible without drowning it in sauce. I've reached the point that the price outweighs the food quality. We have too many delicious burger spots that are priced similarly or less to keep feeling like I'm wasting money,

The charcuterie board with mixed meat and cheese was really small though. Only three pieces of cheese for five people... it made it feel like an awkward fight over who'd get to try some. The gluten free crackers were appreciated though. We ended up ordering more food including the "party tray" which I would describe more as charcuterie nachos. We didn't really know what to expect with this one so we got the canned mussels but it really would've tasted better with the prosciutto instead. It included a whipped cheese, olives, and cornichons piled onto potato chips. Less of a tray and more of a nacho-style dish. If we return next time we're in town, I'd skip the food and focus more on the wine. Beyond that, it was a fun time!

Everything else didn't have a unique, distinct quality I had been hoping for in a place like this. I found it odd that when I requested the lettuce and tomato to add, I had to add it myself instead of it already being added to the burger. The fries weren't anything to rave about either. We didn't try any ice cream, but if I'm back maybe I'll do that instead.

been coming to this spot since it opened and quite frankly love it. some of the other watering holes that i frequent, to gauge my taste are cali clipper, happy village, danny's, rodan, rainbow, and innertown. there are more but i like these mainly...... anyway, off topic. the burlington is the point here. weekdays are awesome here, usually pretty busy but not busting the seams so to speak and for the most part always has a welcoming vibe. bartenders are friendly, fast, and sometimes a little smarmy.........i like this the weekends can get super busy and loud, lotso people in a not so huge space creates noise, if you don't like this don't go on the weekends, personally i know the beast that the weekend is......you either get over it or you don't.....i get over it the brothers seem cool and down to earth too.... so that seemed really long winded. to the point. i like: -cheap beer, expensive beer, cheap booze, expensive booze, they give you both options. 2$ pbr and 5$ burlington cow! -stiff cocktails....rocks drinks are usually poured extra heavy, as well as mixed drinks......4$ well drinks every night, my wallet likes this -some of the best music lovers spinning records every night in the city. -fun crowd for the most part, usually logan square locals and hipster kids coming from wicker, buck, etc. - a light bright -church pews open up for bags and coats, but are also really low to the ground.....i dig it, my big friends don't -oh, and there usually seems to be a healthy singles crew here....both girls and boys doing their thing....makes for fun watching, that is if you can see......it's dark read more

Rad bar! First time checking it out and I'm glad I did. It's kind of off the beaten path which is nice but came on a saturday and had a great time. I'm surprised to see so many reviews on this bar after finding out it has only been open for over a year and from reading the other reviews this place is a polarizer. The bar wasn't that packed at all for a saturday and the booze slingers were quick and friendly.....and heavy handed. The actual look of the bar reminds me of home sweet home in the lower east side or just some brooklyn bar in general. Had a great energy and feel about it as we walked in and I don't think I've been to any other bar in chicago that has this kind of feel or look. Heard some great tunes, met some super nice and generous people outside while smoking (like really friendly if you get my drift) and just had a blast hanging out here. The drafts were all $5 across the board which is ok for what they were offering because they were craft beers but it'd be nice to see some 3/4 dollar drafts and that's why this place doesn't get a 5 star rating from me. All the cocktails were 5 while the well drinks were 4 which my friends liked and reasonable to me. The crazy light chandilier in the middle of the bar casted a minimal amount of light across the bar which made everything and everyone look better, the church pews we're great for our group, and the Burlington beer was awesome! How do I begin, I'm almost embarrassed. I normally don't do this but I feel I have to for this place, yes first timer. First, the neighborhood is unsafe, we had an incident after the bar closed and when we went back to ask for help they would not open the doors for us ( we got held up), my girl was crying and it was very cold. Second, these guys aren't even from Burlington, they have fond memories of their vacation home, THOSE TRUST FUND BABIES. The Bar was extremely loud and very dark, seats are incredibly low, that your face is in everyones butt, what were they thinking. We got there about 12:30, couldn't get a drink, the guy with the blond mullet was rude, and the hipsters well that's another story, if you don't look like them, they are very rude and pompous, won't even move when you say excuse me, not that they could hear with the loud music. Plus the place is ugly in decoration, no thought put into it at all, exposed light bulbs as chandeliers (Hugh???), we didn't get it, were you trying to be cool. Drinks were OK, when we finally got them, OK priced. They lost me with their rudeness and most of all their lack of compassion for someone who needed help in a questionable neighborhood, I would have been OK by myself but I was concerned for my girl. All I have to say is that it's not safe to venture that far out for a drink.... girls be careful out there and stay East of California, better yet Western. read more

I don't get the hate on this bar. Been coming here much like the whistler since it opened and haven't been let down once, from the Burlington that is. What I personally enjoy about this bar is that I can come in early, before 10, and it is super chill in the place. Think they actually made the bar brighter too recently, I can read in there now ;) The bartenders will fix you up some Singapore slingers or wicked Manhattans early in the evening and generally have something to say worth hearing. I really appreciate this and the stiff pours. This place pours heavy handed in my opinion and for what you pay, it's a deal in my book. They also have a place to smoke your smokes, a big plus for me. People don't realize that this bar is great early and I kinda hope it stays that way. Now what i also really enjoy about the Burlington is that it is really laid back early in the evening but can turn around and morph into a party. And by party i mean people not giving a toot and just going for it. New years eve here was absolutely brilliant. Probably my best one in recent history. It was awesome, plain and simple. Great music, low lit, heavy pours, the girls and boys will both talk to you here and just enjoyable people that don't give a hoot and wanna have fun. Grab a pew and check it out! read more

News flash---you live on the west side of chicago. That means there are going to be hipsters whether you like it or not so get over it or go live in the gold coast. I love this bar. Been coming to it for the past 6 months and at first the music was a bit overbearing on the volume but I think they've reeled it in. I really didn't mind the loudness, the music is for the majority spot on and I greatly appreciate that. Anyways, reasons why i love this bar. 1. Music: Its awesome, everytime I come. And by awesome I mean the jam, the doves, eddie harris, xtc, t rex, tropicalia, and it goes on and on. Dj's every night that just play quality music. No top 40. 2.. There are actually girls here. That might even talk to you if you aren't a creepster. It's worked for me and I ain't all that and a bag of chips. 3. Beer: Like danny's they actually carry delicious Craft beers here. Sure they're not 3$ Buds, but I rather pay an extra dollar or two for variety and quality. And 4$ wells and 2$ pbrs if I'm feeling cheap. Thank you. 4. Darkness! There aren't enough dark bars in chicago. I think this has helped me more often than not. Great bar, great people, good staff, and great booze. I know some people have said that it seems pretentious, and although the crowd was most definitely fashionable "pretentious" was not that vibe i got at all! The crowd seemed like a group of Townies just having a pint in the neighborhood with their crew, unapologetic ally enjoying themselves. How can you complain about that? To me it just seemed like a hip bar, with great (somewhat maniac) musical choices, fantastically nice bartenders (especially ours in the great IRON MAIDEN t-shirt). The only complaint i could have is that it was incredibly smokey. I wouldn't go there in my best clothes, only the ones i don't mind airing out the next morning. West of Kimball! Thank you Burlington for opening something this far west. Been living in Logan for a couple of years now and have periodically popped into the this bar and have always had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Me and my crew ended up here a couple of Thursdays ago and it was an oldies night! Who knew, not us and I guess it's something they do regularly. We likes and there was plenty of parking which made things a bit easier. The bar was pretty hopping and we literally danced our shoes off, it was awesome! They had a $4 gumball head special on tap and $3 well drinks......we got loaded big time to say the least! Overall, what I enjoy about this bar is that someone had the balls to open a bar this far west. That alone gets a couple of stars from me and then to boot the place has killer music, a sweet and surly staff which most awesome bars should, people can't be nice all the time, it's not in our nature, especially at work! Moved over to the west side a couple of months ago, which in my mind is west of kedzie and been hitting up the burlington regularly ever since. I love this bar! Great tap handles that are pretty cheap in my opinion. $5 for a full pint of gumball head and/or alpha king seems about right to me and I swear whenever I'm by this place on the weekend people are really spot on considering it's the weekend. And whoever mentioned their "Warriors" halloween party is dead on. These guys throw a great party, I went to both the warriors one and their "holiday" christmas party. I've never been to a bar that gives away free eggnog and or halloween punch, this place does and all i have to say is sweet! Things i like about the b. Smoking room for those colds nights, patrons seem to be really nice and inviting......i've had some great conversations here, low lighting throughout the bar, some of the best tunes spun in town, the forest mural on the wall, stiff drinks, and just really nice people that are not pretentious. Now I can't speak to the quality of drinks because I'm straight edge (forever sober). However, I am a musician that has played most of Chicago's rooms from the tiniest stages all the way up to Metro and the like. As a musician I felt very respected and taken care of. It's a dive bar so they didn't really need to do much. Though the staff handling cover and sound were extremely nice! And one of the bartenders went to great lengths to attempt to help me find my missing scarf! They even stuck around a little longer while my band mate waited for AAA because his van suddenly wouldn't start. Nice guys over there! The ONLY critique I have is that our fans mentioned that the sound mix was crazy bassist, and that was only half the show so the sound guy must've figured out the issue. read more

i've been surprised by some of the negative reviews of this place is it loud? yeah, i suppose - it's not a church is it dark? maybe, but most good bars i've been to are. Are there "hipsters" here? yes, but there are plenty of "regular folk" as well if you're looking for a solid bar in Logan Square where you can get a great beer at a great price i don't think you'll do much better than the Burlington (hint: order a "Burlington" beer - the one with the stag horn pull on the tap). if you are going to bitch about the price of PBR you should probably just stay home. oh, and If you don't like the music one night give it another shot. Some decent beer on tap from cranky, 20-something bartenders. Not much to look at, but that forest mural is pretty amazing, huh? The bathrooms are clean though, and tastefully decorated by drunken passerby. It should be noted that the Burlington also hosts the Sunday Night Sex Show on the last (you guessed it) Sunday of every month. You can hear some hilarious, ten-minute or so sex confessions from a bunch of regional writers. It's hit-or-miss, though. Some of the writers are good, some are really bad, and others still are deranged lunatics in gym shorts. I dare say that I've seen a few attractive women around the place, but again, some of them are writers, and we all know writers = crazytown. read more

I first went to this place back in 2007, when it was fairly new. Perfect location in the mixed hood of West Logan Square. Old Church Pews for benches, always good tunes, and the "house special," A $2 shot of makers mark. My only problem the last couple of times I have been here is the crowd. I do not consider myself pretentious by any means, but an obvious people watcher, I have noticed an increase in DBags and Slutty Mcgee's attending this bar. But it's still awesome and the owners (two brothers) are pretty hilarious. I went there on 4th of July last year and they were playing "American themed" songs, but more as a joke. I think I was the only person that got it, which impressed the two owners. read more

The owners are cute, and they are working hard on trying new things out all the time. They have been wonderful to me in terms of giving us a venue for the Sunday Night Sex Show. Last Night I watched really bad movies with a group of fifteen people, we laughed and mocked 80s Reaganite America. Burlington is on its way to expanding the space for live bands and more creative nights and I love that is part of the Fullerton corridor which includes Whirlaway...plus I must say it's probably the place I see sexy people i could see myself dating. read more

i read the reviews for this place and headed inside feeling somewhat skeptical. don't believe what you read, i didn't find the burlington to be pretentious at all. it's dark, it's small, it's smokey and the mix goes from jesus jones to lily allen without blinking, but there are no unwelcome vibes. our bartender didn't make us wait once for drinks and was pretty generous with the jameson pours. he even went out of his way to fill our glasses with ice when the drinks got warm. we'll be back. read more

Let me preface this review by saying the House Beer is absolutly fantastic! The bartenders are very friendly., and the DJ spins decent music. However, the place gets WAY TOO LOUD! It is like the DJ is always trying to out do the crowd, and the crowd (hope you like hipsters) is always trying to be louder than the DJ. There is a big drink menu that is projected onto the wall that is pretty beer heavy, but there are some other options for non beer drinkers! I got a jalapeno ranch water that was really good. There is a large patio space that looks so fun for the summer. The concert venue is in the back. It's pretty small, but perfect for more intimate shows. We had so much fun!!
