"GREAT" service. I am a server at a busy fine dining restaraunt so maybe my standards are a bit too high when it comes to dining out. I get that its a cafe, so service is usually a little more casual, however I do see the need to at least be kind, ask how we are doing, refills? Maybe ask how our food is before it's more than halfway eaten. The food was great. That was the best part. Our server was extremely offputting, and just.... unpleasant. I highly doubt I will be back. The burger was big, and tasted fine. The atmosphere was quiet. Awkward quiet- it's quite easy to overhear neighboring table's conversations. We ended up there because it was one of the few things open on the Main Street during a holiday weekend. The service was also a bit slow. Beautiful historic space though. read more

Wow - waited 50 minutes for the breakfast "special". Had to serve my self coffee. I'm from a small town so I know that is no excuse for poor service. The place wasn't even busy. Many customers walked out, but we waited. Finally, the super nice owner brought our very average eggs, hash browns, bacon & biscuit. Some day we will get there for breakfast. Today, we had a late lunch and both our sandwiches were great. Much better than next door at the Occidental Saloon. (Not sure why - I think they share the same kitchen). I had the Western Range. The meat was great and with everything stacked in it, I had to really work to get it in my mouth! The Ruben was tender and just enough sauerkraut to make it great. The only down side was the iced tea. It was stout-almost the same color of a cola. We had a chuckle at the Longmire's "Usual" Dinner Specials. (The Busy Bee is only one of a few names not changed in the Longmire books and Netflix show that is centered in and around Buffalo). The Busy Bee describes itself as a "Bakery and Soda Shop," though it is really neither. The "Bakery" refers to a selection of only a few items, like cinnamon rolls, pie, and muffins, and "Soda Shop" evidently refers to root beer floats and shakes/malts in chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla. After a long day in the mountains, working on a 100 year-old cabin, my dad and I tried this place out for dinner on our way back home to Gillette. The mix of art deco and antiquish furnishings made for an eclectic and inviting dining area, and a wall of windows overlooking the creek added nice natural light and a good view. The menu was standard diner fare: tenderloin, burgers, philly cheesesteak, etc. My dad got the reuben; I got the philly cheesesteak sandwich. Both of us agreed that the sandwiches were fine, but not great, the fries that came with my sandwich were so few in number that it seemed almost like a joke, and the side of cole slaw amounted to about 4 Tablespoons and tasted like it came out of a bag. We hoped for better with dessert, and each tried a hot-fudge sundae. Advertised as large, the sundaes were quite small, though that was of little consequence, since they were also average. The ice cream was tasteless and I am pretty sure the hot fudge came out of one of those packets that you heat up in the microwave. Average food is tolerable, but at 31 bucks for the two of us (and I drank water), it was a bit steep. Busy Bee isn't bad, but there are better options in town. read more

My wife and I ate breakfast here and we were both pleased. I ordered the Longmire plate with Country Fried Steak, 2 eggs, hash browns and a very good biscuit. We came here for breakfast on Father's Day, so we already knew anywhere we ate would be busy. However, the service was poor, rude, and the wait was unbelievably long for such a small restaurant with only a few tables filled (each table had also been waiting a long time for their food). Without letting us know how long the food might take, that they were too busy, or that some food had already run out, the server took our order and left. An hour later we were served. We had one plate of french toast and one plate of pancakes-- both dishes were raw dough in the center. The rest of the food was decent enough, but not worth any more than the 5 minutes it takes to make it yourself at home. We had heard about their delicious biscuits before coming in, but 30 minutes after we ordered we were told "We ran out of biscuits. Do you want white or wheat toast?" We did thankfully end up getting one biscuit for the table, and they are as good as everyone says. Unfortunately that was the only highlight. read more

This place is supposed to have history with their bar next door. So yes they have the ambiance and history, but the customer service from the wait staff is far less than to be desired. They are short, and grumpy with you and if they cage fills up it's 12 tables the day go to the bar next door. They don't even invite you or walk you next door. You are not even greater unless you are a local. The food is okay 1 out 5 stars as it's sandwiches are bland and the soup is watered down if it's a broth based. Charming little cafe affiliated with the occidental hotel. Very reasonable prices with charming friendly service. We arrived at 11:00 and were able to order both breakfast and lunch. My wife ordered the busy bee breakfast sampler, which included two eggs, a sausage patty, hash browns and two pieces of toast for $7.99. She enjoyed every bite had no complaints also mentioned that their cage was stronger and less diluted than other coffee's she has previously had. My son orders the kids French toast and bacon for $5.99. This is were they lost a point, the French toast was good but they only gave him two small slices and one slice of bacon, thought the portion was too small. I ordered the half chili half turkey sandwich. Everything in the sandwich was fresh, the chili was wonderful would definitely order the chili again. Add to that a wonderful New York style chocolate soda all for $27 in what is essentially a tourist town was real satisfied with everything, I ate here. read more

We stopped in for dinner while we were staying in Buffalo on our way across Wyoming. It's a cute little place with large windows over looking the river. Our waitress was cute as a bug and was very attentive despite being the only server in the place. My husband had a BLT and the chili. He said his sandwich was excellent but the chili was just "good." I had the french dip and fries. The sandwich was very good, the meat flavorful and juicy and the bread crusty. The fries were standard diner fries but good. Our only real complaint would be with the chocolate milkshakes we had. A good shake should be thick enough to stand a spoon in. You should be able to eat it using your straw as a spoon. These were more milk than shake and rather insipid flavorwise. For 4.50 I expected premium ice cream and whole milk. read more

Came in this morning for breakfast and waited 20 minutes for our server to take our order, but she never returned, so we had to leave for an event. The cafe was very busy, so I was more sympathetic. However, when we came back at 10am, there were 2 other tables occupied. We placed our order as soon as the server took our drink order and waited almost 30 minutes for our breakfast; an order of the Occidental French Toast, and 2 Stingers(classic eggs, hash browns, sausage links and toast). My sausage had hair on it and my fiancé's sausage was raw and cold in the middle. Our server didn't come back to check on us, so I had to be the jerk who sought her out to get 2 new orders of just the sausage. I asked for the check as soon as our server brought the new order out and...... we waited yet again. The young lady serving us was very pleasant but way better at holding the bar counter up. Maybe she was having a bad day and still flustered from the "rush" prior to our return??? I was in the service industry for a long time through school and even a stint after, so I never complain or leave less than 20% even with subpar service or entrées. Today is the first time I have ever left a review online and hope today was a fluke, and the Busy Bee manages to step it up before tourist season. The Occidental, which I believe owns the Busy Bee Cafe, is a great place to stay and The Virginian is a wonderful place for dinner with amazing food and ambiance. The staff was very friendly and service was good. The breakfast Burrito was unusual since it was covered in sausage gravy. The French toast was the big hitter for being the winner for breakfast. I ate at the Busy Bee twice while staying at the Occidental Hotel next door and I had excellent service despite it being full of customers both days. The coffee was fresh and hot and the biscuits and gravy were some of the best I've had, the portions were just right and it was served very fast. The wait staff was friendly and visited and joked with me as I was alone at the counter both days. I would certainly eat there again and of course any fan of Longmire in books or on TV will want to stop in as well. Just a completely satisfying experience all the way around, I look forward to stopping in again in future. read more

I was really disappointed with the Busy Bee. It says it is a soda fountain and bakery. My father got a piece of pie (only 2 choices total) and it was a very small piece and way overpriced. I got a milkshake (only 3 flavors available) and it was very runny with chunks everywhere. My mother got the sundae and it didn't even look good, the hot fudge was just thrown in on the side of the glass in a big lump--not appetizing at all. We didn't order any food but it did look good when looking around at the other tables. The Busy Bee should change their name! Very misleading! read more

Our server took about 5 min. to even get to our table even though the place was only half full. The only time we saw her was when we ordered, got drinks and bring our food. She never refilled our drinks. It turns out from watching her she was more interested in one large table that turned out to be family. They got good service but nobody else did. The place looked like it would a fun place to eat but boy were we wrong...our waitress knew little about the menu and said her regular waitress was not in because she had fallen off her horse. We waited for over an hour for our food, and during this time NO ONE came to check on drinks or apologize for the wait. We asked another waitress if our food was coming and very rudely she told us the cook was behind, she let us know the cook had started on ours but it was just up to us if we wanted to stay...still no apology. Okay, second time I had breakfast there and it was very poor both times. On my last and final visit, our party was told they were out of biscuits, orange juice and English muffins... They already have a limited breakfast menu so this made it even smaller; and how can you be out of orange juice! So I ordered the breakfast burrito with green chili sauce. The burrito had very little in it (not to mention the waitress forgot to ask what type meat I would like) and they forgot to add the cheese! A third of my burrito was shell. The chili sauces was basically a scoop of green chilies and that was it... The meal was very disappointing! A waste of money. I would recommend going elsewhere for breakfast (and other meals as I had heard similar issues during lunch) which is to bad because it has a nice atmosphere and could be a wonderful place. read more

Wow.....that is all I can say. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!! First walked in and it looked like a respectable place and we were seated immediately by the waitress and brought menus. When we ordered drinks the waitress seemed to forget we wanted water and some beers so we didn't get them for about 25 min even after several reminders. The menus had nothing to choose from and the items were way over priced for the caliber and amount of food we received upon ordering. The side salads that come with the dinners (all of which are $14) was four pieces of bagged lettuce, a quarter slice of a red tomato, and two pieces of sliced carrot and a single slice of a stalk of celery. Oh yeah no silverware the whole time. ended needing to steal silverware from the neighboring tables. There was a couple that was also visiting in the restaurant when we walked in that were cordial but when they received their food they fell remarkably quiet and ran out of the restaurant about three minutes later. My group should have taken that as a sign. The mac and cheese was cold even though the dish it came in was hot and the food itself literally tasted like cigarettes. I mean seriously how does that happen. Mac N' cheese can't smoke cigarettes so WTF. My chicken fried steak turned out to be a lake of gravy with a itty bitty boat of meat with the whitest fake potatoes I have ever seen. in an attempt to slide the gravy off of my steak it had already gelatinized and with one push all of the gravy moved as a single solid mass. Over all never go here because it was horrible. This place should be out of business. read more

She was very rude to every table she served, demanding people's orders and no patience. People would walk in the door and she would yell at them to sit down before even welcoming them.
