Our second stay at Cabin "Dogwood." The cabin was clean and had plenty of room for our family of seven. Didn't get to use the charcoal "park grill" that was added since our last visit but it looked like it has potential to make a great meal. "Next time!" Staff is friendly and goes to lengths to make sure you feel welcome and that your stay is comfortable. Wifi at the cabin was helpful in locating things to do in the area since there's no cell service. We kept the electronics to a minimum and enjoyed the beauty the area has to offer. The highlights of our stay were the hike to the top of Crabtree Falls, the beach fun at Sherando Lake and the visit to Wild Wolf Brewery for dinner and corn hole. Logwood - Renter Beware!!! Video/pictures are carefully presented to not depict what you will be truly getting. If you are looking for a private cabin in the woods with easy access to a creek right outside the back door, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. - The cabin is located on a well-traveled road, not off the beaten path via the gravel drive depicted. - There are two additional homes right next door - a big rating of 0 for privacy. - The inside is extremely small (which was ok), but the photos do not accurately depict what is there. The full size washer/dryer (in the kitchen) is overkill in this little space , no cute table & chairs; instead an ugly bar thing. The furnishings are more than a little worn; look like they came from a bad second-hand store. - Bath is ok; no shower. - Upstairs is a one room loft. The video depicts 2 full size beds, the written description states 3. Which is it? Three beds and dressers, which makes for very little space to even move around. I can't imagine 6 adults sleeping up there. - If you are disabled or elderly, you will not be able to enjoy the creek in the back as one must navigate a steep vertical slope down/up. And, I mean steep! - While the cabin is set up to sleep a hand full of people, the size is truly for no more than 2 - even three would be pushing it. - As we didn't stay, I can't really comment on the kitchen (it "appeared" adequate) or the condition/comfort of the beds. We wanted to get away from it all, not be sharing our time with the neighbors next door and not be able to enjoy the creek and surrounding woods. Suffice it to say, people do not pack up with 2 large dogs, fill up with gas (which is not cheap these days), and travel for several hours only to turn around and leave. While we were offered to try another cabin, we declined in that we really didn't want to deal with folks who had been so deceptive from the get go and continued to place the blame on us since we didn't investigate the property on Google Maps. Really!!! We were offered a 50% refund, of which we only received a portion. We should have been refunded 100% for the pet fee charge and the arm load of fire wood we purchased, plus an error in their math when initially charging us. As far as I'm concerned, we should have been refunded for every penny. read more

One of the best places to stay near Wintergreen! Cabin Creekwood has 9 cabins to choose from. The few times I've stayed there I've always stayed in Rockwood, I loved it the first time I stayed so I stuck with it. The cabins are a home away from home, they have kitchens, dishes, woodstove, towels, bedding, BBQ, and even a few snacks. Cabins are open year round, I've been in winter and spring time and it's always beautiful. The owners are really awesome trustworthy people and they would definitely go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Their rates are VERY reasonable compared to other places in the area, they also offer military discounts! Close to Wintergreen park (skiing/snowboarding) Also close to my favorite Devils Backbone Brewery. For as long as I am here in Virginia, Cabin Creekwood is where I'll be staying when I'm up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. read more

I stayed here with my girlfriend on Friday, and my fianceé on Saturday. Turns out those are the same person, and this cabin and the beautiful trails nearby were an awesome setting for our engagement :) The cabin was very homey and cozy. Rustic wood burning stove, comfortable bed, babbling creek outside. Everything was very clean, and the cabin was well equipped. I was a little surprised to find a full set of dishes, matching silverware and all the other amenities that I've learned not to expect from a cabin. I had a number of last minute changes of plans, and Stan was super flexible and accomodating. I would highly recommend, and I'm a little hesitant to post this review as I don't want it to become harder to book a stay there. But that's selfish, so here it is. read more

Stayed here in late January 2016 with a friend for a weekend at Wintergreen resort. Excellent stay, the cabin was just fantastic. Owners are really nice, offer military discount, and the cabin was loaded with just about everything we needed. Nice kitchen provided all the tools we needed for meals, the bedrooms were comfortable and we slept great, the living room was spacious, and we could have easily brought a much larger group and still been very comfortable. WiFi is a bit spotty, seems to originate from a central signal point and a network extender would have really helped bridge the gaps so we had reliable Internet for when we were relaxing after a long day on the slopes. TV was a CRT and we didn't have access to anything but DVDs. The selection the owners have was okay but if you think you're going to want to watch any TV/movies then better bring your own. Location was super close to Wintergreen resort, easy to find, and all around peaceful. I'm giving 4/5 because everything was superb but having more widespread, reliable Internet would have made it. Definitely would come back here, a wonderful personal experience. read more

Cabin Rockwood Perfect. Everything about our entire stay was absolutely perfect. From the cabin, to the pool, to the activities we did in the area and the people there who guided us. Peter and Julia do a fantastic job as caretakers, although we barely saw them until we needed something and then they were right there! They packed us enough food for an army on our kayak trip at Sherando Lake (we paddled around and then to the island and just laid in the sun, it was amazing) and the hiking backpack provided was stocked with everything we needed as we hiked Crabtree Falls. Horseback riding at Star B Stables was probably our highlight and Carl was so funny and nice. The only downside to Rockwood cabin was the stairs when you're unloading the car but we didn't mind at all once we saw how close we were to the pool! One night as we lazed around in the pool after hiking and kayaking, a baby deer came to the top of the ridge and watched us for about 5 minutes as the sun went down. Everything was just magical here! I have told everyone I know about your place and I will return as often as I can. Thank you for an amazing girls weekend trip! read more

Wonderful stay at the Foxwood Cabin. It was the perfect cabin for a family of five with young kids. Very clean, well-maintained, and well-stocked with everything you need for your mountain getaway. Very close to hiking and breweries. The owners are nice and welcoming. We wished we could have stayed longer. Definitely recommended. We are already planning our next stay! read more

Stayed over the memorial weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location is accessible to everything. 5 min to Sherando Lake. Less than 10 min to Blue Ridge Pkwy. 15 to Wintergreen. 20 to Devils Backbone Brewpub and Bold Rock Cider. Groceries...ok that's a little farther, but no big deal. Cabin has just about all the comfort of home. No cell reception but there's internet. We brought along a Roku to hook up to the TV and that worked just fine. Did notice it ran a little slower one night. Every once in a while, internet might be a little spotty but it's not the end of the world. You're suppose to be cut off from the hustle and bustle of the urban area after all. read more

We had not idea what to expect. Although we have rented other vacation homes (beach and home away) nothing prepared us for our visit to Cabin Creekwood. When they say just bring yourself and what you need - they mean it! The cabins are fully stocked and move in ready from the time you open the front door. Lights were on - very welcoming. With 9 cabins available there is always one that will fit your need. The ability to rent for undefined lengths of time is a definite plus. As they are pet friendly - It is nice to know that we can check online and if available pick up and come for a stay short or long at a minutes notice. read more

If your looking for a beautiful rustic get away this is the spot. My husband and I spent a weekend at Dogwood cabin with my sister and brother-in-law. The accomadations are nice with all the essentials. Stan and his wife could not be nicer or more accomadating. My husband and I took a trip out here to snowboard for the weekend (february) and it was 10x better than I expected. The pictures doesn't do it justice! We ended up with the barnwood 1 br 1 bth. It was fully furnished and they had basically everything you needed. I liked there there were extra blankets and quilts. Everything was very clean and neat. And its really cute. You really get the cabin feel of it and it's a great place for a romantic getaway or just a family weekender. At first I wished there was wifi but I am happy there wasn't because it gave us a chance to remove ourselves from technology and enjoy the outdoors and each others company. There was a creek/river right behind us and that was nice. We are excited for the next time! It's 20 mins away from wintergreen but it can become an hour if blue ridge pkwy is closed but that also all depends on the weather. Other than that this place felt like home and I didn't want to leave! read more

Fabulous time at Cabin Creekwood, me and my siblings plan a vacation every year. Cabin Creekwood exceeded our expectations. Julia was wonderful, along with the rest of the staff. My family and I stayed here this past weekend with my daughters meeting us there. Unfortunately, they had car trouble and we had to go get them on the interstate. As a result, we didn't check into the motel until 1AM. We called Cabin Creekwood and told them about the situation. The manager, Peter said the very late check-in would not be a problem. The surprise was that Peter was up, smiling and waiting for us... at 1AM. The topper was that, when we checked out at 0800 to go horseback riding, Peter was there again, smiling and cheerful. Add to that, the fact that the cabin was also great. It had upgraded features and fixtures, but felt like a homey backwoods cabin. We will absolutely stay there again, hopefully, for more than one day next time! I want to have more time to enjoy the wonderful views and great-looking swimming pool. Thanks Peter for being the high point in some otherwise unpleasant circumstance. read more
