Amazing. Just what I was looking for while I was in business in Lafayette. Home town feel and service. Great atmosphere the bartender was great but was disappointed she only works on Saturday's cause I went back a few days later. They had the pool going so we got a pound each of the shrimp and can't tell you how tender and juicy they were. Just the perfect amount of heat for me. We also go some of the boom boom wings and they were great as well. The blue cheese dressing was outstanding and you can tell not from a jar. Highly recommend this place. So in Lafayette again. Have to find gumbo! I am glad I picked this place. Nice outside tables, great-as in quick, Friendly and accurate-servers. Loved the fresh hot spiced pork skins while we waited! Gumbo said chicken and sausage. (I'm not a seafood person) I would have preferred more sausage then chicken, but I'm odd like that. Flavor was spot on however! I visited The Cajun Table for the first time around 8p.m. on a recommendation of a coworker. I was meeting a college classmate, who was visiting from the Memphis area. The house made crackling as a nibbler was excellent, crispy, and flavorful. The atmosphere was casual with Cajun and local music playing outside and inside the restaurant. My classmate ordered the half fried catfish and half fried shrimp platter and I ordered a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo and the fried shrimp platter. Salads with blue cheese dressing came out quickly and served in a bowl with crisp iceberg lettuce and a wedge of tomato and a ring of red onion. The ample blue cheese dressing was creamy and deliciously funky. I asked for my gumbo to be served before my meal, however shortly after being served the gumbo, our entrees arrived. I hadn't finished my salad and only had a few spoonfuls of my gumbo. The gumbo was served with rice on the side next to the potato salad and a single round of bread. I would have liked some crackers, but was so surprised at the gumbo's condition I didn't ask for the crackers. The gumbo was flavorful and dark with ample amounts of chicken and sausage, but was very thin, more like a soup or crafted without a roux. The mustard style mashed potato salad, which was tasty, but I personally prefer a more chunky German style potato salad. Unfortunately, I neglected my entree to eat my gumbo and potato salad. My classmate appeared to enjoy his half and half platter and devoured it with pleasure, along with the house made Cajun Table dipping sauce. My shrimp platter was served in a plastic basket on a pic-nic checkered paper. My large shrimp were flavorfully seasoned, lightly battered and cooked to perfection. The shrimp tasted very fresh, probably swimming that morning. My "homies" (home style fries) were not crispy and a bit cold and limp at this point. The jalapeño hush puppies were ok, but no flavor of jalapeño. I wound up asking for a to-go box for the remainder of my entrée, because it was cold. My waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and checked on us throughout our visit replenishing sweet tea and water with lemon in addition to a to-go drink as well. I will give The Cajun Table another try on a return visit to Lafayette and would recommend the seafood platters. read more

Have you ever been somewhere and you had good food but the service was enough to make that good food bad? That was my experience on my $200 ticket, I am a very laid back and easy going person. This restaurant is NOT family oriented. I came to this establishment with my family that consists of 2 small children, one that requires a high chair and the other who is in an infant car seat. I arrived and was seated shortly after 7:00 in a Friday night, after trying to attempt to make it to Cajun table for nearly 3 weeks (having actually gone and left due to wait times with my 2 small kids). We are sat down, it is very busy as it is Lent which I understand, my waiter comes who did not introduce himself and take our drink orders, shortly he comes back with said drinks and as he is sitting them down, he is dangling a Bloody Mary we ordered that is dripping out the cup, right onto the head of my TWO year old. Ok, it was not a big deal, I mentioned something as it was happening because the server didn't even bother to notice and very non chalantly apologized about it. This same drink was the only drink I sat with the entire time of my visit as my drink afterwards I ordered and sat for 20-30 minutes at LEAST without a drink and when my drink was finally brought, my family decided to go to the car as it was not "family oriented" and I did not want my child to disrupt anything in the restaurant. While sitting by myself at this table waiting on my server who had not been back for 30+ minutes, was also surprised when the same drink I never received was refused and I asked nicely for a bag for the rest of my $95 worth of crawfish and my ticket to pay in place of it, after this same drink was brought by someone else in a cup soaked in condensation because the drink obviously sat for who only knows how long. I understand it was busy, but that does not make up for the extent of my experience. I really was looking forward to enjoying my visit here that I have been trying to make, but after this I unfortunately will be bringing my business elsewhere. read more

We ordered a 1/2 catfish1/2 shrimp platter. Came with 5 shrimp, 1fillet, 3 hush puppies, and a basket of spicey fries. And a side salad. The spice was just right. The salad was just iceberg with tomato and a couple rings from an onion. The fish platter had better lettuce on the bed. Th sauce was tasty. My only complaint is the noise. It bounces off the alls especially from screaming kids at dinner. So less than half of the dining area was used and it was Loud! Service was friendly and and fairly fast. With the menu you have choices. Lots of people ordering the crawfish. The beer selection is a little weak. Would come back if local. read more

Best place for a home cooked traditional Louisiana meal! Phenomenal atmosphere. I felt like I was at my grandmas table.

The menu stated that these were 16/20 count shrimp but i beg to differ. I did the crab shrimp combo. Out of the three crabs two were hollow. I also ordered a "select" size crab and was pretty much the same size as the empty ones. Only 2 stars because the seasoning was good. read more

The wife ordered the meatball stew special. Tasted sweet. It looked like they burnt the gravy because it was super dark and then they tried to fix it by adding sugar. There was so much gravy it was almost gumbo like they were trying to get rid of it. Gross. My crawfish quseodea burger said a cheesy crawfish queso sauce but it was actually that mayo ketchup dipping sauce for crawfish which i hate. Can't stand anything mayo or mayo based sauces. They should change name to the salt table. Wow everything served was so salty it was not good. Had the nachos, crab claws, pirogue poboy, and meatball stew. All of it salty and only the nachos was good. But made both of us feel bad after we left. The pirogue has this nasty salty dip on it which was slightly fishy and it was so bad had only a couple of bites and I threw it away when I got home. Which is a rare thing for me. The meatball stew was like old thick gravy style. Just not my thing. The crab claws were ok. Nachos even though salty the crawfish queso was good and the thick fried chips were a good pairing. However, I took several coworkers from the New Orleans area there for boiled crawfish ... and they weren't impressed with the way they were seasoned on the outside of the shell. Service was great. Me and my wife came to town to see our sick grand daughter we ordered take out and was very happy with the food it was great. The next night we brought our family to eat in. Being first night for crawfish it was very busy. The hostess at the front was disorganized and group's were not being seated efficiently. Initial estimates were 25 to 35 minutes but it was really an hour. After being told we were next to be seated another group was seated in front of us. Being miffed I confronted the hostess. I explained my issue and asked if they were going to seat us. The hostess said they were really busy and everyone was crowding her station. I told her if she wasn't going to seat us I wanted to speak with the manager right now. She replied if I was going to be rude she wouldn't seat us at all. My wife wanted to leave but my nephew got us seated. Avery our server was great. She was friendly, fast and met our every need. The food was again great. However the hostess, Lauren is in need of further training. Being combative and making excuses instead of addressing the situation calmly with professionalism is a poor way to handle a unhappy customer. Especially when that customer is a former manager for CMAA. The Club Managers Association of America trains top tier golf club managers and chefs in America. We drove 2 hr to get to this place and it was absolutely amazing and so worth it. My wife and I had the Beignet Sticks as an appetizer because we got there at 3pm and I wanted crawfish but they weren't gonna be ready till 4pm It was definitely worth the wait for the crawfish though the crawfish were amazing and delicious, and my wife got the queso crawfish burger and she said it was amazing as well. Service was great as well, they kept me up to date on when the crawfish was ready to boiled and everything and it came right out once done as well as my wife's. The complimentary pork grinds were the bomb as well. Definitely recommend. We will be back for sure. read more
