This has never happened to me or us before. I told my family to wait outside while I investigated the room to make sure it was safe and empty. It was. The next morning I took a shower and there was absolutely no water pressure, soap in the dispensers on the wall or conditioner. I went downstairs to breakfast at 8:15 and there was nothing left, nor was there an attendant near by. We will try out other hotels in the area and even if that means in Ithaca a half an hour away, so be it.

I booked this hotel because my remote job requires a physical Ethernet connection. Before booking,…read moreI reviewed the hotel's website, which advertised hardwired internet in the guest rooms, and I also called the hotel to verify that guest room Ethernet was available. I relied on that information when making my reservation. After checking in, I discovered the Ethernet jack in my room did not work. I spent valuable work time troubleshooting my equipment, contacted my company's IT department, worked with the front desk staff, and tested Ethernet ports throughout the hotel. I determined that the only functioning Ethernet connection was in the business center. The staff at the front desk went above and beyond to try to help resolve the problem. Because of this, I had to move my monitors, docking station, and other work equipment between my room and the business center each workday, causing lost work time and significant inconvenience. When I spoke with the manager/owner, I felt my concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. Although she initially stated no one remembered my call verifying Ethernet before booking, the front desk employee confirmed she was the person I had spoken with. Despite this, no accommodation or solution was offered other than using the business center.

The grounds are well manicured. The bed was comfortable and the pillows are plentiful. The location cannot be beat. We had dinner and drinks at the Blue Pointe Grille the night we arrived. I was a little hesitant to eat at the hotel restaurant. I was bracing to be disappointed. Service was on point and cocktails were well made. Food was delicious. We had a high top in the bar right near a window for a nice view of the lake. Highly recommend.

It's rare that I'm dazzled by a hotel or feel that it's worth the money (they're all stupid…read moreexpensive these days), but Harbor Hotel was a wonderful experience I'd recommend to anyone. Don't get me wrong, it's expensive. But for once I felt like I'd gotten my money's worth! Everything everywhere was meticulously clean and well-kept. Our room was spacious and bright, with a private balcony and chairs, a couch and coffee table, and a full table that allowed us to take comfortable advantage of the room service breakfast. Potpourri sachets in the closet, free water bottles in the lobby, free coffee stations on each floor, and chocolates every night on the pillows--details, people! We also enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, and of course the gorgeous patio and firepits overlooking the lake which was 80% of the reason we booked here. All of the staff we encountered, from the front desk to the housekeepers, were very friendly. I did think it was a little strange that the fitness center was in a whole different building and you have to walk across the parking lot to get to it, but hey--you get your steps in. The hotel is also very centrally located. On the water, of course, but next door to Seneca Harbor Station from which you can book lake cruises. It's also less than a mile from the entrance to Watkins Glen State Park and hiking trails and only a 5-10 minute walk from most restaurants. We did most things on foot. When you do get back in the car, there are multiple wineries within a 15-minute drive. The only problem the whole visit was the hotel internet, which was terrible every day. You could make do in the daytime, but at night, when everyone was back in their rooms after the day out exploring, it was slow to the point of unusable, and I ended up turning on my data hotspot to even be able to check my email. I would not suggest bringing time-sensitive work with you, and you should not expect to be able to stream videos on your devices. Just disconnect, you'll be less frustrated. There is an onsite restaurant and bar, and while it's nothing mind-blowing, it is a nice option to have (and is one of the few "higher end" type places in Watkins Glen). Menu includes a few of the standard local wines, which was nice!

After much research I found Benn Conger Inn online and booked it! When we got there, Shelly, the inn keeper, made us feel right at home! Immediately showing us around and offered great dinner ideas in Homer! Our room was in the annex called The Dempsey house! Our room was the Smith Corona Room! It was wonderful and full of history including a vintage smith corona type writer! Our room had a beautiful private deck overlooking the 18 acres of property! We loved this the next morning drinking coffee and just relaxing! Shelly's advice for dinner was spot on and went to Dasher's Corner Pub! Cocktails delish as well as the food! Dasher's is right down the street from the Art Center, so it was a quick walk down the street for our concert! The concert was great, totally recommend seeing a concert there! The bed was comfy and perfect for our overnight! The breakfast was fantastic, fresh fruit salad, fresh blueberry muffins, coffee and juice available right away! The breakfast room appears to be an add on room that had windows all around allowing you to view the property! On the tables were menu items that were available to order! I had the cinnamon French toast ! I must say it was the best I've had in a long time, I ate the whole thing! My husband had an omelet and that too was absolutely scrumptious! The only problem I had is I wish we could have stayed longer! Beautiful, clean, charming and very inviting place! I strongly recommend!
