I wanted to see if my pup liked swimming so I rented out an hour for the docks. He never did swim but we had so much fun. It was a wonderful bonding experience. The salt water pool was awesome. I loved swimming in the pool. We went again this week and I met a member from my FB Pit Bull page that wanted to join us. She brought her pup and I brought mine. Again, no dog's swimming but so refreshing and fun. We will be going back. read more

Canine Ranch has been amazing to us. We have two dogs, one that is very protective, and can be aggressive. It was impossible for us to board them until we found 'the ranch'. They are not just boarders, but also trainers, and were very willing to work with us when no one else would. I can't tell you how much easier they have made our lives when it comes to taking trips. We have a 6 month old Border Collie, Dakota, that has boarded twice at The Canine Ranch and she also goes for weekly training and obedience. The staff love her and clearly she loves them. When she arrives she can't wait to see them . When we first did the training she surprised me by immediately going to lie on her "stretcher" when we arrived. She remembered this from when she spent a week boarding with some training. Once we finish the current training she will be going back for more, likely frisbee and agility. It's a drive for us to get there but oh so worth it. We both love going and love the staff and Dakota learns and grows every time. I highly recommend them. read more

The best way to describe our love and appreciation for the Canine Ranch may be that we drive from midtown Atlanta to Canton for the service they provide. Our dog Nessie has struggled at other boarding and daycare facilities, and there was a noticeable difference when we picked her up the first time from the Ranch -- she was happy, well-taken care of, and I loved being able to get email updates as we were on vacation abroad. We've loyally boarded our dog at the Ranch for the past two years, probably boarding her 4-5 times a year. I love knowing that the team is on site all hours of the day and love that there are add-on options for boarding. Since Nessie prefers solo-play, it's great for us to add on nature walks to know she's getting in more exercise and has time to play and sniff and get to know the staff. I love that there doesn't seem to be high turnover in the staff so Nessie (and us) can get to know everyone, and vice versa. We haven't explored all the other activities and training opportunities they have, but would love to in the future and know we'll have a great experience and that the cost will be worth it. Another plus -- they give great baths! I still don't know what they do to curb the bad dog breath, but it's awesome! :) Thank you so much for taking such good care of our four-legged child! This is not a dog training facility but an overpriced kennel. I took my two dogs here for training and after 4 days they called to pick the dogs up because their inexperienced staff could not manage them. Video accounts provided by this kennel further illustrated the staff has minimal experience handling dogs let alone training them. I strongly recommend finding an alternative if you are looking for dog training. read more

The negative reviews below do not, in my opinion, accurately reflect the professionalism and genuine dedication to wellness of The Canine Ranch. I have know the owner for many years. She is as dedicated to her clients' dogs as she is to her own. She is also more knowledgable about all aspects of training than anyone I have met in my own experience of handling dogs for over 30 years. She also doesn't charge many of her clients as much as she should. All businesses have glitches. If you've ever owned one, you know that. And sometimes a business just isn't a good fit for a particular customer. It's a shame that people immediately jump on line to complain but not to praise. I would not hesitate to put my K9 family members in the care of The Canine Ranch. We'll be there next Sunday to continue swimming lessons. Last week my guys jumped in all on their own. I am just incredibly disappointed with this establishment. They should not call themselves a training facility. I was asked to come pick up my dogs about 5 days into a 14 day board and train program. I took my dogs there because I recently moved to an apartment and I needed help with leash walking, door manners, jumping, etc. Apparently one of my dogs jumped up and "nipped" at a staff member. I have the video and there is clearly no signs of aggression. Isn't this what a "training" facility should help with?!?!?! I was told they could not help me and I needed to come get them. They charged me 1027.00 for basically 5 days of boarding. I'm am beyond astounded!! I have shown the video to my vet and my current trainer and they both have stated that this is a dog testing his boundaries. NO AGGRESSION!!! Please do not take your dog here for training needs!!! I'm sure they are a great boarding and agility facility but that is it! I received better results in just my consultation with my current trainer than I did with whatever they were doing for 5 days. read more

Outside of my vet, this is the only place I trust to keep my dogs. They have people onsite at all times, if I recall some staff live on the premises. If you follow their Facebook page or receive their emails you will see the care they have for their animals. They recently hosted a forum on the dog flu, so when I had to board my dogs there this weekend I knew they were doing everything in their power to prevent it at their facility. I have taken my dogs to various training classes in the past and every instructor I worked with was great. I highly recommend them for boarding or any dog training or sports they have. It is out in the country, but well worth the drive. read more

I have taken my schnauzer to canine ranch several times. The first was for puppy training when he was about 3 months. We both learned a lot and developed a great bond. Three other times I have boarded him for a weekend up to 10 days at a time. Everything went smoothly and he seemed to enjoy it. I think he really hates to leave even though he's happy to see me. I feel like he has some great play times with other dogs, which he has very little of at home. I can text or email for check-ins while I am away which is reassuring. My only wish is that they had a doggy cam so I could peek at him occasionally. read more

I am hoping to update this review with 5stars but so far I am not impressed. I took my three great danes to board for the week. When we got there, there was confusion re: Pickup date. I left trying to tell myself "I" must have made a mistake. While dropping off the woman asked if I wanted to add xtra play time. I said YES Please for all 3. Later I called back to add baths and was told they were not sch'd for playtime!! It felt quite disorganized when I dropped off but seriously it was HER suggestion. I had to arrange for a friend to pick them up as I won't be in town due to confusion regarding pickup date, and I am praying she says the dogs looked well cared for and happy. read more

I can't express my delight in finding The Canine Ranch for boarding services initially. I'd had terrible experiences with other boarding services elsewhere, particularly with my temperamental Jack Russell Terrier. Immediately, he felt at home and actually looks forward to it! How do I know this? He RUNS to the door when we arrive! Just recently, I scheduled a training session for a few behavior problems. After one session, I saw amazing results. We just left the dog ranch. I must say it was the most disappointing experience ever. We drove an hour from Decatur and were charged $30 for 2 dogs to participate in activity day. Two out of 5 stations were not set up and we were still charged full price. The guy at the agility station was rude. We could not let our male dog off leash because his male "intact" dog was on the arena. He then proceeded to help the people that came in after us while he ignored my dogs. Not really smart if you're trying to promote training at your facility. Complete waste of time and money. My dogs are able to have more fun at a dog park. read more

The trainers are not trained in current training methods, but rather "old school", over correction, training techniques. I went to an "off leash" seminar and the owner told me to "over correct" my young, 25 lb dog, and proceeded to nearly rip his head off with a long leash when he didn't come to her...and was SMILING! We have been boarding our two labs there for almost 6 years. Normally, it is for a 3 or 4 day out of state trip. This time, it was for 13 days and were were out of the country. I dropped off two happy and healthy dogs and picked up two happy and healthy dogs. The folks at The Ranch do not just let the dogs out to pee and eat and stick them back in the kennel runs. They actually care for the dogs and interact with the dogs. My dogs are low maintenance. I am not. I had a real bad experience with different lab in another kennel in another state. I returned after a four day trip to find a half dead dog who had all sorts of behavior problems. I ask the folks to send pictures of my dogs while I am traveling ant they do. I would never leave town if it was not for The Ranch. Just about any place can screw up once. Just about any place get it right once, but this place has been consistent over 6 years. I have had the privilege of watching this place grow from the two owners having to do everything to a dedicated kennel staff who can take the dogs out and exercise them or take the dogs swimming when it is warmer. My dogs think they are away at camp. I watched how my dogs interacted with the kennel staff when I came to pick them up after almost two weeks. There was nothing but love! Great Job!! read more

We had a wonderful time at the lure course. Lots of different breeds showed off their chasing skills. It was a bit busy so we could only go a few rounds but that is to be expected in this weather. Just means we will probably spend a little extra and book a private lesson next time. If your dog is energetic this is the place for you. Lots of other activities for dogs of all interests. Good pet care at a very high cost. Watch out for the pricing schedule here, if you choose anything more than basic care, you'll pay serious bucks. We brought dogs here for years and saw costs increase out of the reasonable realm to the point where dog boarding bills rivaled our travel and vacation costs! They will take care of your pet, but it's nothing miraculous you can't get another conscientious boarding facility with some nice outdoor space at literally a fraction of the cost. read more

I want to love the Canine Ranch, but I am so disappointed. We have boarded our dog there 3 times and it always seems disorganized when I go in to drop off/pick up. This last time we boarded, they could not find our information in their systems, so we refilled out the paperwork before dropping off. Not a big deal, but when I went to drop off our dog they couldn't find it again, so I had to refill out a 4 page form in the office. A little frustrating when you are dropping off your pet and entrusting people to take care of them while you are traveling. The worst part was when I picked up my dog, her cage and blankets (we brought our own bc they were out of kennels) were covered in dog poop. The blankets were so covered in poop they were ruined. We live in the city, so the long drive home was quite miserable with dirty dog crate stinking up my car. The facility seems great, I just wish the staff/service could get their act together. read more

This is a great place for training and boarding your fur-babies. The staff is super nice and accommodating. We have boarded our dogs several times and just got a new puppy we will be bringing to classes. We may even try the dock diving. I don't know of any other place that offers that activity. Unfortunately yelp doesn't have an option for 0 stars because that's what the canine ranch deserves. This barn hunting workshop was one of the worst experiences we have had in a dog class -- and believe me we do a lot of dog workshops/classes with our dogs. This was supposed to be an introduction to barn hunting, but it was more like a practice session before a competition. The instructor, instead of introducing the dogs (and their owners) to the litter and rat scents, started with the rat tubes in the ring and asking the dogs to find it (off leash! - what was she thinking, it was the first time most of the dogs were attempting this activity!). This was false advertising -- why didn't you just advertise it as "for dogs with at least some barn hunting experience". Most of those dogs probably had no idea what a rat was -- let alone knowing what were they supposed to do! When a dog did something wrong, the instructor would disqualify the dog and put them out of the ring -- lady this is a workshop, tell the owner that this would disqualify you in the competition and move forward! People were there to learn the basics of barn hunt. You were not doing us a favor -- you were charging an outrageously high fee to train our dogs. I am no dog expert or a trainer but even I could figure out how this activity should have been conducted -- there was no logic to how the activity was organized. So, here is the lesson for you to follow in the future -- start with the following (1) introduce the dog to an empty tube (2) follow it with the transparent tube with litter, let them smell how the litter smells like (3) introduce the dogs to the rat in a transparent tube (if you cannot show the rat in your hand), so they can understand what are they looking for (4) put the rat in the tube with the litter, and let them smell again so that they figure out how the smell changes when the rat is placed in the tube along with the litter (5) conduct the last activity that you did with the board and the two tubes, one with just the litter and the other with the rat along with the litter (6) last step should be to take the dog into the ring. It's a simple logic. Well, we didn't learn anything from you -- I hope you did from this review. Just by doing a simple search on Google, I found a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPAbDBdO3vs) of how a dog should be introduced to a rat (if they haven't seen one before) and to barn hunt. I hope you do a better job in your future classes. read more
