I bought a car from the car store. It was a Toyota Camry. I was sold with out test driving my fault, but the salesman was the most impatient person and told me it was an old car so I shouldn't expect everything to be working. But I don't agree. I got a 1000 mile warranty so I could make sure after driving for a while I could see if anything needed to be repaired. The brakes started pulsating and got worse as used. At 327 miles I took in to get repaired....mechanical issue per my warranty. They drove and agreed was pulsating. But, because it was within ..the Md Inspection Requirements they didn't have to fix. It didn't matter if brakes were working or not. Then they gave me option $400.00 for me to pay for the brakes to be repaired. I ve had car 3 days and I am pissed off. If they did not need repair the why are they going to charge me $400.00 to fix. What is a warranty for? I have finance $30000.00 and they can't do a break repair. And he told me the rotors were warped. Unbelievable. I called and told them they can loose a $30000.00 sale over a brake job. read more

Avoid this shady dealership. the sales manager kept trying to sell me a car that was overpriced because he overpaid for it and had to put money into it to get it ready to sell. i declined the deal and after I left the dealership they ran my credit without my approval and the. a different sales person called me the next day trying to get me to buy the car because they saw my credit score. They also tried to get me to sign a bill of sale for a car that I hadn't seen or test driven! I would not trust them. Terrible customer service and no professionalism. Well, just had a horrible experience at The Car Store in Salisbury MD. Called about a Jeep Rubicon the had. Was told it was in stock so I made a 6pm appointment with Val to see it. Was there promptly at six. When he told me it was sold and then tried to show me another Rubicon that was 15k more. Then when I started to voice my frustration, was told it wasn't his fault the Jeep sold. Right it wasn't. But he could have called me and told me it was sold saving me and my wife who left work early a 45 min trip. Don't ever set foot in this place! The Car Store in Salisbury, Md sold me a vehicle and provided a vehicle report showing no accidents of any kind. Found out from another report that there have been three accidents, plus two instances of structural damage! Instead of doing the right thing, they've taken the stance of "not our problem". Pretty impressive that none of them could care less about letting someone drive away in a compromised vehicle. I like many people discovered a car I was interested in listed on the internet. So, in this time of Covid 19 and being 100 miles away, I began corresponding via email with a salesman at The Car Store. We discussed several topics concerning the car, certainly price and just as important the condition of the vehicle. As I grew more interested in the car, I informed the salesman that I was very particular about paint and cleanliness, so I asked specific questions about the condition of the car. I asked, please advise me if the car has any swirl marks, dents, dings, damage or scrapes to paint, and if the car clean inside. I was advised by the salesman that the paint was in great condition and the car was clean. So, confident the car was in the condition I wanted, I drove a little over 100 miles to the dealership. I met with the salesman I had been corresponding with. When I first saw the car I was excited, however, that quickly dampened. First, I noticed obvious dings on both sides of the car, a couples scrapes and one scrape on the front passenger corner that appeared to have been touched up with fingernail polish. When I got in the car I noticed the beige head liner had what appeared to be greasy hand prints and marks all over it. Then I noticed on the lower passenger side rear quarter panel a dent/scrape about 6-7 inches long that had been spray painted over. This was bad enough to call "damage". When I asked the salesman about this issues, and that I had specifically asked about such, he just kinda srugged his shoulders and said I didn't see those, my grand daughter broke my glasses and he had no comment on the filthy headliner. Needless to say I did not purchase the car, I have looked at the listing several times since and there is no mention of damage on the quarter panel. A few days later I called the dealership and asked for the manager, each time I was put on hold and then hung up on. My opinion, the salesman didn't look the car over, even without glasses you couldn't miss some of the items. I drove a total of 200 miles trusting the salesman, NEVER AGAIN, at least at the The Car Store. read more

On Saturday February 20, 2018 I filled out an online pre-certified application with The Car Store and spoke to a really nice lady over the phone whose name I can not remember, she told me that since I lived in Delaware and am closer to The Car Store in Laurel, that if I seen a Malibu online at The Car Store in Maryland that they would be able to drive it down the the Laurel store. I told her that I would be available to come in and test drive Malibu's on the following Monday February 12, 2018. When my aunt and I arrived to The Car Store in Laurel Delaware Joe Gachine (A.K.A. happy feet) came out to help me and immediately took us into the store and wanted to start the paperwork process before I could even test drive them. My aunt let him know that we were going to test drive them first and his attitude changed and he acted dismissive, like he couldn't be bothered to help us with purchasing a car. There were three Malibu's on the lot and I wanted to drive two of them. When I wold him I wasn't interested in the first one because of a broken hub cap and also the color he got offended and said "you knew what the color was before you drove in it" also saying the damage to the hub cap wasn't his department because he just sold the cars. After that he brought us out the keys to the wrong car and shoved them in my face when I refused to test drive it. After this it start to rain and he left us outside for at least 5 minutes while he "looked for the keys" for the third car. When I drove the third car there was something wrong with it, not sure what but something. When I asked him about it he again was unsure of the problem. When we decided we weren't going to do business with The Car Store in Laurel Delaware he became dismissive. So we left and drove directly to The Car Store in Salisbury Maryland where we met a sales man named TJ Bryant who was very respectful and professional from the beginning. He was able to get us into the Malibu I wanted to test drive as soon as we pulled into the lot and I absolutely fell in love with it, but the bank couldn't finance because of the mileage and he was able to get me into an even better Malibu with less miles. There was also another gentlemen there by the name of Mike who was able to change the loan details to fit my needs who went above and beyond. Everyone in The Car Store in Salisbury Maryland were very nice and accommodating to my needs and for that I want to say thank you! My visit to the car store was 3/27/18. It was the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. John Parker was my sales rep. He seemed like a really nice guy on the test drive. Afterward, I was approved for the car & he told my brother and I that we could spend some time viewing the specs in the vehicle while he did the paperwork if we wanted. We spent all of (maybe) 10 minutes in the car before discovering that the radio is broken and the sun glass box case above the dashboard literally falls in your lap if you open it (making it nothing more than a prop). At this point, John came & knocked on the window to let me know the paperwork was ready & it was time for me to set up my insurance & go into the finance office. I pointed out the flaws I noticed in the vehicle & his nonchalant response to both issues was "oh, I can get that fixed for you". As we got out of the car he also pointed out that the rear seat headrests in the vehicle were missing. Please note that HE brought up the head rest issue. I was completely unaware of it, as I'm sure most people would be because you'd expect a vehicle to have basic safety equipment if you're going to drop 12 grand right? Not the point. John went to confer with his manager "Dave". He came back & said, "Well, I can fix the sun glass holder, but you fix the radio" (first inconsistency). I pointed out that when we were in the car & googled the issue it seemed to be a recurring problem with that vehicle & I didn't want to keep replacing radios. At this point his demeanor changed & he and Dave began to act as if I was causing problems by wanting to be aware of the true condition of the vehicle. I let John know that the only person I wanted to deal with after that point was his manager, to which he smirked and tossed my paperwork on the desk in front of me. I suppose they thought that a young female would nod and smile & let them rob me without asking any questions? John spent the remainder of the evening hiding at his managers desk and making remarks under his breath. It almost seemed like we came to an agreement when the manager (Dave) said that if I bought the car, I could come back in the morning to have it looked at. I asked him to put it in writing on the "You Owe, We Owe" form that I would sign at the end of the paperwork. All I asked was that they fix the sun glass holder, take a look at (NOT pay for or fix) the radio, and to honor their word about the headrests (which again I did not initiate or ask for, John volunteered himself for the task). Dave said that I was "making things difficult" by asking for them to put it in writing, which I take to mean they never had any intention of doing anything they said they were going to do. I find it humorous that Dave even had the balls to make a comment to the effect of, "Once you drive off the lot, that car's problems are between you and the bank." I walked out. Do your due diligence here. I had a few concerns about the car I was buying, and asked about a car fax report. Was told that they didn't do that, and that the car was probably a repo. A fender bender six months later, and I find out that the car has been in a wreck, and wasn't repaired at all well. I guess that explains the lack of things like cruise control in an 07 vehicle. Turns out there are 30 incidents on it's carfax report. Yes, they are nice people, but they're there to offload cars. So do your own research before you buy, and you'll be better off. read more

On the surface The Car Store seemed like they were really helping my family and I out when we needed to trade in our convertible to make room for baby. The salesperson, manager, finance manager all really seemed to be earnestly trying to work for me. We had negative equity in our trade, which was limiting our options. The Car Store offered us nearly 4k more than any other place around. I suppose this should have been our first warning sign. They found me a vehicle with low miles and a clean history, they said, but due to my situation "This was the only vehicle which will work with the numbers" (i.e. negative equity in my trade). Hindsight 20/20, big red flag. So, feeling like we really didn't have many other options we bought the car. After all it was a safe, family type car with low miles and a clean history. Right? Shortly after taking the car home we try out the 2nd keyfob - only to learn it doesn't work. The car has a smartkey system, so this is kind of a big deal - considering my husband and I are sharing the vehicle. We contact the salesperson, he makes a big thing about "Oh, just bring it into the service department - I'll get it fixed, even if it's out of my own pocket." He claimed it was likely just a battery which needs replaced. So, we take the car in and wait - over an hour - to be told it's not a battery, the fob needs to be reprogrammed to the car and The Car Store can't do that. I'd have to take it to a dealership who specializes in that make of car, which I have no choice but to do and had to shell out another $180 to get the keyfob programmed to my car. That really burned me up at the time because I specifically asked at the signing to confirm there were, in fact, two keyfobs as I'd only been handed one. No response from dealership regarding this. Shortly after that it started having random issues. Warning lights would come on for no apparent reason, etc. Took it into the same dealership who fixed the keyfob several times for various repairs. Seems a little odd for a 4 year old car with low-miles to have all these things keep going wrong! Fast forward one year, we're fed up with this car. We want out. We take it into the dealership where we've been getting service done on the vehicle (again, NOT The Car Store) and tell them we'd like see about trading it in on something new, with a warranty (after all, we're a growing family and these car bills are adding up). They pull a Carfax and discover the car was in an accident (long before I owned the car, or before it was even traded into The Car Store for that matter). Due to this, the value of the car was significantly less that what it should be. So, hello more negative equity. I'm disgusted by the business practices of The Car Store. They flat out lied to us on multiple occasions, about multiple issues. We purchased a vehicle that was falsely represented, and grossly overpriced due to the accident history and subsequent devaluation of the vehicle. We have, of course, no way to prove any of this. The report shown to us prior to purchase was not included in the packet of paperwork we were given at signing (when I was 9 months pregnant ordered on bed rest, BTW, and had already been there all day - I stupidly didn't think to check, either). Lesson learned on our part certainly, but the least I can do is warn others. These people are not trying to help you out, they are predators. Beware and proceed with extreme caution! read more

Upon arriving, we were not allowed to speak to the saleswomen that I spoke with on the phone. While I was in the parking lot looking at a car, I got a call from them asking what time they should expect me. They must have not communicated at all. After speaking with a salesman and making a reasonable offer, we were told to come in and speak to the sales manager. The sales manager was ignorant, and tried bullying and belittling tactics. When we bought our 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe in January 2017, I was singing the car store's praises. Now I'm ready to spit nails. Two weeks ago we had to have a sensor replaced and supposedly a full diagnostic check was done and everything was hunky-dory. Thursday night July 20th, the car stopped on me again in the middle of an intersection and we had to have the car towed once more. Come to find out, a pulley dropped off from the belt when the bolt holding it on fell off. All the parts were laying on the splash guard so the mechanic put them back on and (hopefully) secured it so this won't happen again. This time it's costing us $170+. Was told the warranty didn't come in effect this time. Why not? It still deals with the motor. Two weeks ago the warranty kicked in and we only had to pay $120+ for the part, repairs, etc. What a piece of crap was sold to us. Car not even 6 months old (to us) and already over $300 in repairs.
