Just happened upon this hidden gem! Bought a few things. All were delish! The owner was so sweet! Can't wait to go back!

Came in on our way out of town and I'm so glad we did! The owner was so sweet and inviting. She told us about each of the different items to choose from and we allied away with a nice sampling. The homemade caramel is absolutely delicious!! The popcorn was good, but I'd call it an acquired taste. It was good to begin, but I wouldn't sit and eat several bags. The caramels were so good! Turtle was definitely my favorite, but she has so many different flavors I feel like we tried almost all of 'em. The caramel pretzels were really good too! If we're ever driving through, we'll definitely stop by to pick up a few items from the menu. Great place to get REAL St. Louis popcorn! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE! We stumbled upon this place while visiting from Indianapolis. The service was so friendly, we could've stayed chatting for hours. The shop was nice and clean. The caramel...OH BOY! Everything we tasted was so yummy! The apples were freshly dipped right there in front of us, with multiple toppings to choose from. I did check her website and you can place orders to be shipped. Hands down, these are the best caramel's I've ever tried. Stopped here one afternoon when I was in the area, based off of some reviews I read online & on Yelp. The woman (owner?) who was in the kitchen with another gentleman kept apologizing when I entered, as they were right in the middle of making something. I kept telling her it was not a problem, and pursued the selection of caramels they had out. I ended up buying a bag of a few different flavors for my mom to bring home to her, and a variety box for myself. The woman I spoke with was so kind and friendly, and the caramels are the softest I've ever tried. 10/10 would buy more from them if I was in the area, although I foresee myself buying them and having them shipped, in the future! read more

We placed an order for lavender, cookie and caramel, and vanilla caramels for a Christmas present for several family members this Christmas and we orders a set of each for ourselves as well (just to make sure the quality was the same). OMG they were so delicious. We joked we were going to be skimming off the caramels in the gifts before Christmas came! (We won't of course, but damn it's tempting, they're that good). Janet's customer service was also A++ throughout the whole process. I actually called her in September to get a rough quote on shipping for budgeting reasons and she couldn't be more pleasant or helpful. Just choose individual pieces from the glass containers or try a chocolate covered cannoli-style goodie that is filled with fresh caramel as you watch. The variety of handmade caramel items reflect the owner's passion to her craft. Small gift bags with several pieces of caramel are available, but I instead recommend picking out your own individual pieces. I bought some this caramel at Dierbergs one day so when I drove past the store I had to visit. The owner Janet is friendly and takes time to talk to u about her product. The caramel is high quality fresh ingredients. Unlike the mass produced industrial caramel, these r best nibbled on slowly to allow the caramel to coat ur mouth, yeah that good. Voodoo caramels have a button of dark chocolate in it, Turtle has a pecan. Bacon is delicious, I forgot to ask source of bacon. Overall, hand crafted caramels are worth the splurge from here. These r not caramels to shove into your mouth, these r caramels to slowly savor. Yeah, that good. It is better to eat a few higher quality ingredient calories than to eat mass industrial calories. read more

I honestly can't and won't say anything negative about this place, as I walked in I was greeted with the fragrance of hot caramel, and "yes, she does make her own caramel" I watched her do it (the proprietor-Janet Shulman) the customer service was fast,friendly,courteous,and respectful... The young man that assisted me (Scott) was very helpful, I almost bought the entire case, they let you taste "The Ware's" before you purchase them, and there are many different varieties, such as: coffee caramel,dark chocolate caramel, caramel & roasted almond,lavender caramel, "dad's scotch cookie caramel", vanilla caramel just to name a few. I truly suggest that you go and try it out for yourself, and not go by 1 bad review ,that person obviously doesn't know the truest taste of the delicacy of handmade caramel.... Expensive. They just were off tasting. Felt obligated to buy some as the owner spent so much time extolling the virtues of her candy.

A couple of years ago I bought a small package of the caramels from Straubs. On a trip to Shane Co I saw The Caramel House in the shopping center next door. I was so excited because I remembered how delicious the caramels were from years before but at the time there was no store and I am not a frequenter of Straubs. On this trip I bought a sampling of caramels and they were amazing. My favorite were the turtle and the Schlafly. I ate so many before I even got home it was shameful! I picked up some gummy bears for my son and they were delicious too. The proprietor of the store was working at the time I was in and she was a delight and I really enjoyed her company. She mentioned they do wine events too. When I went to pick up my ring from Shane Co the shop was closed or else I would have loaded up with more little delights! read more

As great as the caramels we taste tested were, the cookie sandwich was TERRIBLE. The very thin cookie tasted of plastic and had the thinnest amount of marshmallow/caramel filling. Do NOT get and not worth the $2.50. read more
