    Clam chowder

After a picturesque drive down 88 and a short distance off the exit we arrived at The Carrot Barn. There was plenty of parking. The inside is so adorable, it's a mixture of grocery store, retail store and dinner all in one. They have a really nice selection of local food and other goods. We were hungry so we headed straight to the back to the food counter. The menu is not overwhelming and has so many great lunch options. We decided to split the chicken salad sandwich, tuna wrap and clam chowder. I will be going back very soon to have the chicken salad and clam chowder! The chicken salad is chunky on delicious bread. The clam chowder is a thin broth with chunks of potato and clams, it may be the best chowder iv had. The backed goods case was calling my name and the store clerk recommended the carrot chocolate chip cookie, it was fluffy and delicious. On the way out we picked up a bag of carrots that we roasted at home. 11 out of 10 recommend this place.

Perfect stop after hiking. Parking lot is sketchy not paved and very packed so careful backing up! There is a market inside with home goods gifts produce fridges with cheeses ans sauces and freezers with cuts of meat. Don't pass on dessert. We shared a cider donut and lemon blueberry cheesecake. I also had a cup of spicy red chili and the crossaint apple and turkey sammy. The cranberry Mayo is divine. Kudos to the staff as she recommended the croissant and cheesecake! We also bought a gallon of apple cider but the price was steep. Outdoor seating is plenty but stuffy as this is a covered greenhouse type setting .

Unassuming place which is more of a barn than restaurant but a cute place nonetheless. You can eat your food in the greenhouse at the tables that are seemingly placed haphazardly around the place. Large portions and tasty food.

Dry crumbling cookies has become the norm.

Love this place, but the bakery is going downhill - sadly. Specifically the cookies and brownies. Nothing is fresh anymore. The cookies crumble in your hand. Sizing is no longer consistent. I hate to have to write this, but every time we stop, we hope for the best and our hopes get dashed again. It is almost as if they are baked then frozen and thawed when needed. I should take a picture of my dried out fudge brownie with the old look to the chocolate of the brownie and flaking all over. Nothing is moist anymore. If you read this Carrot Varn, please take a long hard look at the bakery. Maybe try a mystery shopper & see for yourself. The rest of the establishment is still wonderful.

I finally got to try sandwiches here that my workmates have been raving about, and I'm happy to…read morereport that the hype is real! - Apple turkey: this has really grown on me. At first I felt the gooey pink cranberry mayo was a bit funky, but in the presence of crisp Granny Smith apple slices and soft brie cheese, it makes sense. 4/5 - Chicken salad: one of the first things that stood out was the top-notch tomato slices that greeted me, and it got better from there. The chicken is a 'pulled' type although I can't tell how, but all the ingredients, including the multigrain bread, were just as they should be. 4.5/5 - Carrot chocolate chip cookies: these look and taste much like pumpkin chocolate chip cookies to me, which is to say that I like them. I wish they had a stronger carrot flavour, but I know that's a tall order. These are the doughy, soft type which I don't mind at all. 4/5 Parking is aplenty, staff are quick and friendly, and I love a good local family business. I hope they stay open and keeping serving the delicious for many more years.

We went on a Sunday with perfect autumn weather, so the place was understandably busy. Even with the crowd, there was plenty of seating, and although we waited around 25 minutes for our food, it was well worth it. We decided to try their 2 for 2 deal, which lets you pair half a sandwich with a side of soup. I had the smoked roast beef sandwich and taco chicken soup both were full of flavor, especially the soup, which had the perfect balance of hearty and spicy. My husband went with the chicken salad sandwich and a side of roasted vegetables soup which were fresh and well seasoned. Of course, we couldn't leave without grabbing a few of their baked goods two carrot cake cupcakes and one chocolate cupcake. All three were moist, rich, and absolutely delicious. From the fresh, high-quality ingredients to the cozy farm setting, everything about our visit was wonderful. A little wait time aside, it was a 10/10 experience and the perfect start to our day outdoors. We're already planning to come back!

They were fine because there were very few customers this time... the bakery is good, there are some treats and a few full size pies that were delicious. Great place for kids, lots of open space.

When people are relaxed, they will stay longer and buy more things. I wasn't dealing with the porta potties- um, just no. I noticed lots of kids here and they had to go to the restroom. I enjoyed an apple cider slushee while picking fresh apples during a sunny fall day. We had to purchase a half-bushel bag. Mother Nature at her best! I tasted several varieties of apples in the orchards: Empire, macoun, mac, golden delicious, red delicious, Fuji and gala. The empires and the golden delicious are the best- tasting out of the different varieties available here. Take a look at my photos-- so serene and worth the drive up here from NYC! In hindsight, I should have taken a wagon and apple picking stick with me, but I was so happy with the slushee and just walking around, I wasn't really thinking about picking the best apples. As for the goodies I bought: Excellent apple pie with a short-bread type crust and tart but sweet apples. Very delicious and fresh! Seneca Granny Smith apple chips-- never tried this variety- tart and crisp. Apple Pastry stick: I say don't bother with this one. It left a coating in my mouth of greasy weird shortening. I bake my own apple pies with real butter and I don't get this kind of coating with my own pies: Not sure what they use here but don't get this. All in all, a great bakery and orchard.
