I had high expectations for this restaurant based on my previous experience at the Hermitage, PA location. I'm sorry to say I was a bit disappointed. The place itself was nice. We sat outside at sunset and there was a cool breeze and a large screen shielded us from the low angle of the sun. The menu is great, offering many choices and the ability to build your own pasta by choosing the type of noodle and the sauce and any added protein. The server was attentive at first but kind of disappeared when we needed to pay our bills and get back on the road. We were heading to Lake Erie for the weekend and still had a drive ahead of us. So the food was 50/50. My daughter had the gnocchi with a pink peppercorn Alfredo sauce which was delicious. My sister ordered the capellini with marinara and meatballs. Also good. The home made rolls are huge and fluffy and delicious. However my choice was white clam with linguine. Nowhere on the menu did it say it would be doused in tons of cracked back pepper. Now I love pepper. I add it to almost everything I eat like salad, soup, eggs, etc. But this amount of pepper was overwhelming the clam sauce. My sister in law had the same problem with her Aglio Olio sauce. Way to much black pepper. It ruined the dish for her. We all had huge portions and took them home but she left hers because she said it was so bad she'd never eat it if she took it home. So if you don't want all that black pepper in your food, ask the server to omit it. The dishes would have been delicious without it. read more

On this most recent experience, we ordered catering for my daughter's birthday, but we've been coming to Combine's in both western PA and Boardman for decades. The food is just fantastic. The rolls are the stuff of legend. The ziti and meatballs were tasty, and the "serves 15 to 20" may undersell it. Great portions and fantastic service. We've enjoyed transitioning to this location from the original. This location has more light, but can also be a little louder. Even with all the choices, I still end up coming back to the carbonara as my regular. The rolls are huge and fresh and compliment everything including the house salad dressing. read more

We came out for lunch today and it was wonderful! I can't say enough good about the quality of food, and friendliness and attentiveness of our server, Nicole. She was so sweet and friendly and on the ball. We typically go to the hermitage location and I was pleasantly surprised when the food was even better here! The red sauce was more bold and had a less runny texture. The meatballs had more flavor. Also my partner had the linguine with white clam sauce and he said the sauce was very creamy and had a great texture and the perfect amount of shaved garlic. The amount of food you get for the price is unbeatable. We will be back for sure! read more

My and wife and I decided to have lunch at Combine Brothers. This was our first time at this location. We were impressed! The interior of the restaurant is nice and neat. Very clean. Our server greeted us immediately after we were seated and got our drinks to us right away. For lunch, I chose the capellini pasta with tomato and bacon sauce, and my wife ordered the bow-tie pasta with a pink pepper sauce. Both meals came with salads and fresh baked rolls. (The rolls are as big as your head!). The salads were a nice mix of greens, and came with garlic croutons which were very tasty. Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals, and there was plenty left over to take home. Good quality food, and was prepared well. Great value for the money. We'll be back! read more

Ordered Lasagna (pasta layers of meat, cheese and sauce) NOT at Combines. was served a plate full of not totally cooked pasta, and layers of cheese, some melted. some not. a ythi g but layered it looked like a long mound of sauce. I thought it was fish covered in sauce. I ate 2 bites and pushed it aside. waitress brought the check 10 min after we were served and asked if I wanted a box. It was so loude communication was so bad I had to shake my head yes. I am returning the leftovers to the manager with my complaint. Nothing like the original Combine Bros. in Hermitage. We did take out. Ordered Bruschette, M4, Bowties with oil and garlic chicken and greens and an original pasta with meatball. The salads that they came with were crisp and very fresh the house dressing is delicious. The Bruschette comes with a side of Salsa that was so yummy and fresh we are saving it for Nachos another day, The rolls are as big as a small salad plate they include butter packs so it was a win win. The bowties were seasonEd well and the greens very very plentiful, The chicken was fresh and very much a surprise as it was cooked perfect and was juicy and moist. Most places the added chicken is normally dry. This chicken was delish. The M4 is a fabulous appetizer and it combines the richness of flavors and everything combined is a win win. It is plentiful and the meatballs mixed with peppers spicy and mild was a delight for the tastebuds. The original pasta and meatball was enough for two meals as was the Bowties. This place has been a staple in it's original location in Hermitage, PA. for many, many years and now they have this second location of which we have visited a few times since they opened. While we have not dined in as of yet, we have enjoyed their take-out on several occasions. It helps that my wife passes it on her way home from work so convenience plays a factor. As far as the food, it is top notch. We usually go for the Pink Pepper pasta which is Diavolo and Alfredo together which provides for a hot and spicy cheese sauce. It is delicious and just enough spice to enjoy without having to douse your palate with water after every bite. The large chunks of tomatoes and zucchini incorporated in the sauce just is a nice touch. We usually get a side of the Mushrooms Marsala (Button mushrooms sautéed with garlic, butter, and marsala wine) which makes for a nice addition to the already delectable entrée. Paired with their salad and house dressing and their oversized, homemade Italian rolls, this is a meal you won't soon forget. See the pic of the dish I added and you'll see what I mean. I've had other dishes in the past such as the baked ziti with crumbled sausage which is something I will again enjoy in the future. If ever near Hermitage, PA or Boardman, OH, this place is a must. read more

My early experiences were years ago in Hermitage, PA and I'm delighted to report that this location is also excellent. The servings are generous and so good! We kicked it all off with the Bruschetta served with toasted bread. If you enjoy good olives you will be in heaven! My friend reported that the wedding soup was good but too salty. Enjoyed their house dressing. I had Tuna Alfredo and my companions had Lasagna and a Marinara dish with vegetables. One thing you'll want to note is that their sauce has meat flavors in it but no meat per se-- it's really just an excuse to order their tasty meatballs. You can choose your own pasta so we tried linguini and ziti. The server was very attentive and friendly. We hauled three big boxes out of the place and look forward to leftovers. read more

I have been to combine brothers bar and grille in hermitage and the food wasn't bad. Boardman was a much different story. I have never had such poor food in my life. The pasta was soggy, chicken parmigiana lacked flavor and was recooked, and the cake was almost frozen. If you are a pasta restaurant and can't cook it to order, you have NO business charging huge money for pasta. Cook it to order ! I will say the meatballs were decent and the bread was fabulous. The bread was the highlight of the visit. I am trying to be as honest and objective as possible. I do not recommend this place at all and price to value ratio was just not there. We have eaten at the Combine Brothers in Hermitage and have always enjoyed it. So, when we saw that one was closer to us in Boardman we were thrilled. Sadly, it was a HUGE let down. We ordered coffee, which was served barely tepid, the server did take it back and served us hot coffee. We were not given bread plates, not certain why since the other tables got them. I did not get the salad dressing I requested (server offered to bring the correct one). My pasta with white clam sauce was served cold (not warm....cold) and was so bland that no amount of salt, pepper or cheese I put on it gave it flavor. The server did not come back to ask how everything was, however when bringing us the extra napkins that we requested I was able to let him know the issue with my order. His response was that he had "had that complaint from other customers" regarding the lack of flavor in my dish and that it was not hot because it "sat in the kitchen while they prepared the eggplant parm" that my husband ordered. WHAT??? He did offer to get me something else or reheat my food. At that point, I was ready to leave. I will add that this was on a Wednesday evening at 4:00 and there were only 2 other tables sat. The picture is of all the trash and dirty dishes left on the table when the check was given to us. The only good part of the meal was the bread, but not good enough to bring us back. The service was lacking and the food??? Let me also add that I had been a server for 25 years and the lack of attention to detail by our server was disappointing. Not clearing dirty dishes and trash off the table before presenting the check is server 101. It was not only our server, but other tables were also given their checks while their tables were still dirty. Perhaps that's acceptable at B'man CB? First time at Combine Bros. Boardman and probably the last. The food was nothing special. Two meals included a ribeye and burger...both ordered medium well, and both came out black and more than well done. Large buns/bread was good but would be better warm. Decor/atmosphere is not appealing. You have to sit on rock hard booth seating without cushions. Ordered a Long Island tea (NOT top shelf) and it tasted as if they left out the simple syrup so I had to add a packet of sugar. I was blown away when the bill came and their price for a Long Island tea is $13. I've never seen more than $10 in Youngstown for a tea. No-one like to ask how much every drink costs when ordering and look like a cheap ass but $13 is crazy for a place like this. I doubt we'll be back. read more

My boyfriend and I went for dinner and drinks and had a wonderful time. There was live music and a lively and fun atmosphere. The pizza and bruschetta were both delicious! All of the staff were engaging, friendly, and attentive. The bartender has a custom Lenon Drop cocktail in the menu that is a must-have! Well, were do I start. I know you go to a restaurant for the food, which was very good, but poor service, the silverware was terrible. When I pay 23.00 for pasta at least have nice silverware. The plates they came on made it impossible to toss the pasta without falling over the sides. So a few tweeks and you may have something here. Also the ambiance was lacking. read more

Very disappointed. Service and ambiance was lacking. Minimal bar service. Only offers extremely basic drink service so if you are looking for a cocktail other than beer or wine, forget it. We ordered a bottle of over priced white wine and she brought it out warm. Said they had no cold wine but offered ice. ??? Our server was either new or having a bad day. We asked for smaller bread plates so we could slice our small loaves of bread and she said that they only had about four of those and they were being used. Then she proceeded to tell us we could just slice it up on the table because they wash them in between customers. ???? She only stood at one corner of the table and made us pass food and drinks to others on our party of 8. Checks were a disaster, all mixed up. Food was fairly good, large portions, nothing to choose from other than pasta and more pasta. Nightly special menu was unimpressive. Has potential to be a reasonably decent restaurant with the right staff and better menu and drink options. Sorry Combine Brothers, we won't be back. read more
