We visited on a Friday around 5:30 pm and seated immediately. Service was fast and attentive. We got the happy hour sushi, which is kind of rare to find to sushi so we always love to come here for this. Happy hour is M-F (maybe Saturday?) until 6 pm, so make sure to ask for that menu if interested, because sometimes it's not provided unless we ask. Sushi is good quality and generous portions of fish on each. I also got a lychee martini cocktail (happy hour), which's my go to here and always delicious. Upon entering Mizu Japanese restaurant, my husband and I waited a couple of minutes until an employee greeted us and walked us to a table. The restaurant did have a sign that said that they are hiring additional employees, so maybe they are understaffed. The top of the table was a little dirty from a previous customer. Our waitress was very friendly, and she quickly brought out our appetizers and entrees. Here are my reviews for the foods: Side salads - 4 stars - The salads tasted good, but they contained way too much dressing. After we ate the lettuce, we had deep puddles of dressing on the bottom of the bowls. Side soups - 4 stars - These clear soups tasted good and contained a small amount of vegetables. Tuna sushi - 5 stars - My husband likes tuna, and he said that this sushi could not get anymore tuna-like. Vegetable hibachi - 4 stars - The vegetables included carrots, onions, peppers, broccoli, zucchini, and mushrooms, and I liked the taste of the sauce. My side of white rice was cooked well. I've had my fair share of yakisoba. My husband has been to Japan itself and enjoyed this dish. I will say with high confidence that we did not get the dish we ordered. Their version of yakisoba consisted of boiled chicken, steamed ramen noodles, and steamed vegetables tossed in a "sauce" meant to emulate the yakisoba flavor. The issue with this, starts with the noodles, then the way it should have been cooked. You can't just use whatever noodles you have on hand - you need soba noodles. Then the point of yakisoba is that the dish is fried in a wok. The dish tastes best when all ingredients enjoy this method of cooking, and that wok-fried flavor meshes with that texture. The sushi did not redeem them either. I ordered an eel special role, and was left wanting. It tasted more like sugary sauce than actual eel. They definitely skimped on the meat as well regarding this. I believe we had the dragon roll, where there should have been a mixture of salmon and eel, with avocado, covered in eel sauce. It was worth it to try this dish, but sadly, we will not be back. read more

I have been to multiple Japanese restaurants around the area, but Mizu Japanese restaurant have offer the best experience in terms of service and food quality. The servers there are really polite and patient when explaining the food choices they offer. I ordered a Love Boat for Two and maitai. The sashimi were fresh and everything was beautifully displayed. I have been coming to Mizu since they first opened in Boardman, and it is one of my favorite restaurants! My boyfriend and I go here all the time. The sushi is absolutely beyond amazing!! My favorite roll is the Shrimp Tempura Roll. We always get a few sushi rolls along with some chicken fried rice and green salads. The ginger dressing on the green salads and the yum yum sauce are awesome as well! The service is always excellent, and the atmosphere is beautiful. It is very classy inside. I love having the option of the private dining rooms, and it is also fun watching the sushi be made at the sushi bar. Prices are very affordable, and the food is always really fresh, high quality, and consistent. I would definitely recommend this place. If you want some really great sushi, make a stop here! I've visited Mizu for dine in, take out and even ordered through door dash. It's the consistency and taste for me. The lobster roll and Youngstown roll may be my faves and I realize some may say that these extravagant rolls aren't really sushi but I don't care, they're good and the reason they are so popular. However, if you're a sushi snob, they got you here too. The red snapper roll is really yummy and worth a go. If sushi isn't your thing, their bento boxes are good too. I had the teriyaki shrimp bento box which included a California Roll, fried shumai, fruit, steamed rice, miso soup and salad. I was pleasantly surprised! Food was really good. My only disappointment was that they did not have a Hibachi table grill, but the food was prepared in the back and brought out to you. The portions for the Hibachi as well as the Bento Box were large. I ordered the Steak Bento Box, and I ordered my steak medium, and it came out well done. However, when I told my waitress they brought out a new steak and it was perfectly cooked. The sushi was flavorful as well. We ordered a spicy crab roll, a Youngstown roll and a Moonlight roll.
