    Tropical vibes

I loved the tropical vibes at Cat's Pajamas, although I am really confused about the name as I did not see any cat-themed decor, and especially not cats in pajamas. I'm not sure if I just missed it. I like the ambience of a rooftop bar, and it was busy with a decent line that moved quickly. I got a vodka cranberry for $10, and they automatically add a 20% gratuity, which I think is quite generous. My friend bought three vodka shots for a total of $30, which we balked at. Definitely pricey. I'm not sure why my cocktail cost the same as a shot.

This was a big bar that we found while driving around Austin. We were very hot and needed a place to get some drinks and saw this place. We didn't go inside but went up the stairs to their outside bar. The place wasn't very crowded, so we were able to get a few beers and a piña colada. First, the place did look pretty cool. They had plenty of spots you can sit at or even take pics with (swing and telephone booth). They also had plenty of fans around to get cooled off and plenty of shady spots. I did see a lot of lights too so I could imagine the place looking nice at night time. The beers were just beers, nothing fancy and my drink was alright. They did also have a lot of TVs around too to watch whatever sports you into. Overall, it was an ok experience. I think if I were to go back, I would do it at night time and when it's not as hot outside. It's not a bad stop though.

The drinks were good here. We got a Miami Vice which is refreshing for the hot weather. Defiantly a place to go to if you want to dance as it has lively colors and lights everywhere. Staff was quick with our drinks. Their decor was on theme with being very beachy. I loved how it was on the roof top so it is a great place to go for a girls night out. We went on a Monday night so there wasn't many people there but I can see it being very lively on the weekends. They had swings at the bar which was so cute!

Groovy upstairs bar off of West 6th street. I've been wanting to check it out for a long time! Finally made it in on Thursday evening. I had no idea that they are the sister bar of Beez Kneez (downstairs). Asked the friendly bartender for a drink recommendation, and it was a amazing! I love frozen drinks, so I tried the Miami Vice (frozen pina colada & strawberry daiquiri). I would make a trip there just to have that again! The vibe reminds me of being on a beach vacation bar, so much FUN!

this place is a vibe! I loved the interior it really made the place feel interactive and engaging. The swings were my favorite part about the bar! Someone was always on the swing haha it would be nice if there were more swings so everyone could get a chance to sit on them. The cats pajamas is on the upper level so u need to take the stairs lol i got confused and went to the one right next to it on accident haha

Don't think I've ever noticed Cat's Pajamas till now so I think it may be one of the newer bars, but what a vibe! Just from noticing it's color scheme and decor drew us in to go up stairs (from which they have a pretty good view of the buildings around west 6th. It's a total group type of bar, with their fun music and almost tiki style vibe. Great for bachelor or bachelorette parties as the tables are big and the bar area is open and spacious. They even have a couple arcade type of games in the back, including a basketball game which is always fun. And then a photo opp in the front part of the bar! Kind of went down to 3 stars because the drinks are pretty ordinary like other bars and there aren't many tables so if they're all full you have to stand.

We dropped in for the cool name & stayed for the truly unique vibe! We stayed upstairs on the patio, where we drank their "famous" pina coladas at the swings and soaked it up. Thankfully, the misters and fans were on to keep us cool. We played basketball, and I was shocked at how empty the place was. It was such an unexpectedly fun experience, cold drinks, and great service. Photos speak for themselves!

Sooo much fun here!! Bartender was awesome, the swings were fun, decor was colorful, drinks were strong, music was fire, photo ops were silly...Just an all around good time. I think we must have stayed here for 3 hours just drinking in the vibes. Perfect for large groups.

I really wanted to like this place as I saw the positive reviews and was impressed with the decor when we first arrived for drinks. Unfortunately, I left with mixed feelings about my experience. I'll start with the good parts. The drinks were good and fairly priced as one would expect from a bar on sixth, and the location is nice as it is fairly close to Star Bar and not exactly right on the main street. It is easy to spot because of all the neon lights, and it is on the second floor with a staircase leading up to it. The Bees Knees I believe is right next door and almost looks like it is the same building, but it is a different bar. I liked the theme that was a mix between tiki bar and Boca Raton. We ordered a few rounds of drinks and actually went to another bar before coming back to try something else at The Cat's Pajamas. Perhaps it was obvious to the bartender that I was a few drinks deep and feeling loose so when I ordered a standard mixed drink just as we did an hour or two ago, the bartender tried to charge me $44 for just 2 mixed drinks, when normally it is $16. The receipt listed 2 wells and a mixed drink and it seemed as if the bartender pretended not to notice the mistake. It certainly is not the first time a bar has tried to pull something like that and it is too bad that this was my first experience here.

We waited maybe 15 minutes at the walk-in line as others progressively started to pile on behind us. Then again, even people in the reservation line were waiting. We were treated nicely, but we definitely could have gotten in right away. By the time we walked in, the place was probably at 60% capacity. It was standing room only at the bar, but not overcrowded by any means. There is a dress code, but it's not entirely clear what it is. Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
