    Tiniest bar

Funny name with great happy hour prices. $4 well drinks or lagers. Located downtown with enough outdoor seating to suit the name of the place. There's a few food trucks next to it in case one is hungry

You did it! You're the tiniest bar in Texas!!!

In the voice of Will Ferrell from Elf, "You did it! Congratulations! Tiniest Bar in Texas!". Located on 5th street across from WholeFoods HQ you will find this "Tiniest" of bars in Texas. Pay attention or you may just miss it and find yourself circling around the corner to try again. I stopped in to get my card punched so to speak and I can see why it is so popular. This is a prime example of quality overtaking quantity. Their isn't much in the way of seating however I'd have stood without question. The place is a smart use of a small site. A long list of beer, spirits and some original cocktails on the menu. In other words": Something for everyone. I'm glad I came by here and plan to in the future - perhaps post ACL as it is a good stopping point on my journey home.

Came randomly one cold early Jan Wednesday night because nothing else seemed to be open in this neck of the wood in Downtown ATX after 11pm and I had never been here. So, I guess the namesake comes from the actual little bar itself because there is surprisingly a lot of outdoor and some covered seating. When I arrived it was literally just me, the bartender, and a buddy of his...why everything was so dead I have no earthly idea. I didn't really know what to order here, so I had the super nice bartender make me a bourbon based mule. It was nice and strong, no complaints. I then did an "Industry Standard", which I was introduced to by the bartender and a lovely lady who worked at another local bar when she joined us after getting off her shift. If I recall it was a beer and a Jameson chaser. I think my only complaint would be I still do not know how I left w/almost a $32 tab (that was w/a $5 tip) when all I had were 3 very simple drinks and it isn't like they have any major "top shelf" brands, so I was a bit confused how a "divey" sort of joint such as this was charging $9 a drink when all I have ever heard about this place was how cheap the drinks were...other than my very basic mule, it wasn't like I was ordering cocktails? That being said, maybe if I ever come back it will be when there is more of a crowd and the drinks will actually be on special so the bartender doesn't feel the need to make up his sales via a single customer. He was so nice too, but I just don't appreciate being gouged and friendly banter should be included with each pour imho.

If you look up dive bars in Austin, a picture of the Tiniest Bar in Texas should appear, this is the very definition of a dive joint, but with a lot of character and fun. Let's face it, drinks are drinks, beer is beer, cocktails are cocktails, no matter where you go, but if you want charm and lots of fun, this is bar has got to be on your Austin checklist. The actual indoors is tiny, hence the name, but there is ample seating outside where you can still feel the vibes of this famous place. The staff is great with a sweet personality, after all, you have to have a great sense of humor to work at this place. You may not make it your regular stop, but you have to be able to tell your friends that not everything in Texas is BIG. Salud amigos.

I can finally say after living in Austin most of my life I've been to the Tiniest Bar in Texas! It really is quite small, but an Austin staple and must do at least once. There is only street parking, so I recommend an Uber or Lyft. Definitely one to knock off your bucket list!

it's like a food truck for alcohol! good selection of domestic and craft beers...and about 15 different cocktails. they use local texas vodka [deep eddy] 2 food trucks on pato...taco and halal/Mediterranean [ate at taco one...it is superb] BUY LOCAL SUPPORT LOCAL

Really isn't a "bar" at all, albeit yes, small. It's more of a "patio" that happens to serve cheapish booze ($3 Coors light, $5.50 local craft beer...) from a little window counter. Interesting indeed and worth a stop when in the downtown area on your way to another destination...particularly on those perfect spring or fall upper 70ish days, as it is almost entirely exposed to the elements despite the propane heaters on-site throughout our "winter" months. During the scolding hot Texas times that consist of most of the year, there are misters going and the AC blasted ladies room (VERY clean BTW) both offer cool retreats from the heat. Some great people watching right on 5th in the Warehouse District, can find street parking relatively easy on most days, they hold some fun trivia on select nights, live music or blaring jukebox, and there's a food truck right next door in case you need to nosh. Nice service. Fido friendly. Free WiFi.

    Great vibes

I am not okay right now, getting crazy visuals at this place, took out my phone to take a picture. No clue what's going on but I feel like I just solved it every math problem ever

Yup this is definitely the Tiniest Bar I have ever been to. The bartender was friendly, knowledgeable and poured a mean drink. The restrooms were clean, pricing was good and there was plenty of seating. The only thing keeping this place from being a 4 Star is the cigarette smoke. They allow smoking on the patio near the door (which should not occur since it's much closer than the 15 foot requirement) and also allow the smoking near the door when the plastic flaps are down during colder weather. It was like waking into a giant ashtray. Yuck

Beer Booze Patio Party Throw in some excellent food truck nosh, you have all you need. Parking sucks but why are you driving? Small indoor area with TV and AC but the real party's outside. Misting fans help cut the heat of the night and the cold beer flows. Some micro but you'll probably down a cool one in the can. Clean, simple and easy. You'll want to relax when friends here. Oh, and eating an Italian sandwich from the food truck (Lucky's Puccia), you will love it and your body will thank you come sunrise. Oh, live music too. What more can I say? Get your ass to The Tiniest Bar in Texas.

We waited maybe 15 minutes at the walk-in line as others progressively started to pile on behind us. Then again, even people in the reservation line were waiting. We were treated nicely, but we definitely could have gotten in right away. By the time we walked in, the place was probably at 60% capacity. It was standing room only at the bar, but not overcrowded by any means. There is a dress code, but it's not entirely clear what it is. Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
