It has been a long time since I have been this excited and enthusiastic about a new restaurant in Longview but I have to say, The Catch has got me buzzing! I drove past it several times and noticed that every time, it was packed to the gills (no pun intended). The kicker was when I drove by on a Sunday afternoon at 3:45 and it was packed and there was a line of cars wrapped around the building at the drive thru. I said to myself, "Self, there must be something going on here!" I went with the wife on a Monday night and it was packed at 8:45 (nothing in Longview is packed at 8:45 except Wal-Mart and the Good Shepherd emergency room). The décor reminded us of an "Aw Shucks" oyster bar in Dallas and the staff was very attentive and nice. I got the fried shrimp, catfish and chicken combo and my wife got fried oysters and gumbo. This is the best fried catfish I've had since Bobby Crawford died (only old school Longview-ites would get that). The fried chicken and shrimp were excellent and the fries were outstanding. My wife loved her fried oysters and she's particular about her fried oysters! I texted several of my friends after we were done raving about this place and most of them replied, "Yeah, been there several times...best seafood in Longview!" Thanks for the heads up, fella's!!! Everything so near perfect I thought I was on the coast of La. The crawfish, shrimp and sausage gumbo is very traditional and excellent in its rue. Not a fan of catfish usually but I'll eat The Catch catfish anytime! Shrimp are the mignonette of seafood. Love this place. read more

Wife and I ate there last night and the gumbo was some of the best I have ever had. I wish I would have just had that, in a larger portion! I had the fish tacos, she had the shrimp tacos. Pleasantly surprised! When I first pulled up, my first thought was - is this a "Long John Silver's" type restaurant? It has that fast food ambience, but the food is much, much better than those seafood fast food franchises. But I had read good reviews, so I wanted to give it a try. My cup of gumbo was really good. My combo of fish, shrimp and chicken tenders was very tasty. And, the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. No complaints! I would recommend this place for good food with a Cajun flair, done pretty quickly. read more

We stumbled on this place after the place we were going to had an hour and a half wait, and oh my word am I glad we did! The food was absolutely incredible. The fish was flaky and not at all dry, the batter was perfect, and the shrimp tasted like it was freshly caught. This place was very casual and reasonably priced for seafood. The catfish had great seasoning and cooked to perfection. Wow, went to visit a old Marine buddy and found this place on Yelp. Awesome fried catfish, awesome fried shrimp. Got the cheesy grits instead of fries, again awesome. Was not a big fan of the sausage gumbo, not spicy enough for my taste. Inside and outside eating areas were nice and clean. I wish they would open one of these around Gun Barrel City. Really good food but they need better quality control on togo orders. Had the chicken tender, shrimp, and catfish combo today and they didn't give me my hushpuppies but unfortunately I didn't notice until I got home. Fish was cooked perfectly and was very fresh. No muddy taste like some other places in town. Shrimp was also cooked perfectly, was fresh, and well seasoned. The chicken tenders are great as well. The place was packed and the food was good for us just not "wow". The jumbo shrimp basket was what I got. I ordered the regular size basket for $8 and got a basket mostly full of fries in the bottom, 2 tiny hush puppies and 4 jumbo shrimp. The shrimp were very good but went fast being only 4 total. I would have thought I would have got more shrimp for $8. We each also got a cup of crawfish and sausage gumbo. It was good but I saw only one piece of sausage in it the size of a nickel. The side of gumbo is small but if you get as an entree it is much more. Lastly, the cheese grits were the best I have had at a restaurant. My friend got the catfish basket which had about 6 pieces of fish in it. These are fried and small lasting 2-3 bites and the size of maybe 2 of your thumbs put together. Skinny pieces too. Now, we aim to be true with our comments, the food was good just not much to it for the price. Adding on the Slap Your Momma for flavor was good also. The atmosphere is cramped. This place was Rusty Taco then Rowdy Taco and now this. It is cramped at lunch inside due to so many people there which is a good problem for them. Outside where we sat is enclosed in this strange plastic bubble and seems weird....makes it more closed it and crowded than it already feels. The price was high. We each paid over $16 and that was without a tip. No Diet Dr Pepper only Diet Coke. The cashier said they were getting it soon which is smart because even the 2 ladies ahead of us asked for it. The place was packed yet we got our food quick. That was impressive. Workers would open doors for us and they all seemed busy and efficient and friendly. We were offered free beer or a margarita while we waited. Overall. We probably will try it again sometime. We were drawn here because it always seems full and the drive through line seemingly wraps around the building. The food was good but this time not much for the price. Seems to be very popular among the local crowd and they should apparently do well here. If we do return, we will try some of those other entrees touted on these reviews. I've been here quite a few times, dine in and carryout. For this to be a "fast-food" spot the quality of food is really good. Not to mention the prices are amazing! I've had everything from the fried fish, crawfish and shrimp to the cheese grits and boiled crawfish. Excellent seafood, great tarter sauce, good atmosphere, polite employees, average gumbo. The Catch surprised us. It was delicious. My husband and I typically each get our own entrees, but we opted to share the Admiral Platter. It was PLENTY of food and all very good. We will definitely be back. Don't come here to eat your vegetables. But they do offer salads. I had regular fried crawfish basket with fries and hush puppies. The basket was over flowing. You could hardly see the fries for all the crawfish on top and they were wonderful. We were checked by employees 4 times to see if wee needed anything. Hubby says the boiled crawfish is good at $4.99 a pound. No corn or potatoes. Key lime pie is excellent. Food arrived at our table super fast. read more

Absolute shit show. Ordered at 6:03 over the phone, apparently the girl taking my order was too incompetent to take down my credit card number right, so when I arrived 20 minutes later... they hadn't even started on my food. Here it is 6:50 and I just got my food. The manager lady seemed a little too snippy as well for them having made a mistake. Not to mention the little shit that took my order lied and said I hung up on her. I've got call recorder. Nice try. Hope she has to find employment elsewhere. Never lie on a customer when they can prove otherwise, better to own your mistake and deal with the consequences of one screwup, then have to pay for two stupid mistakes. It was delicious but about an hour after we ate there my husband and I both became nauseous and indisposed and continued the next day.

We loved the Catch the first few times we visited, but our last visit was awful and we have not ever been back. We waited over an hour for our food, which ended up coming out wrong (ordered grilled fish tacos and got fried shrimp tacos). At that point, we had been waiting so long we didn't bother sending it back. There was no apology. The staff kept telling us it would be right out. No offer to make it right. Frustrating. To top it off, the tables outdoors were disgusting. Only a few bottles of ketchup, sauces, etc. to be shared between multiple tables. The bottles were also so gross I didn't want to touch them. Anytime we think about coming here we remember our last visit and go elsewhere. It's a shame, too, because the food can be really good! read more

The line in the drive thru was extremely long. I almost gave up, thinking it just can't be that good. Oh how wrong was I. I ordered the medium fried shrimp plate. WOW! It was delicious. The medium was plenty of food for me. I'll go back & recommend to family and friends. read more

My wife likes their crawfish, but every time I visit, I order the catfish and it's like it's FRESH OUT THE WATER! I don't mean that in a good way as in fresh, but fresh out the water because it's soggily breaded and falling apart. Usually over seasoned (batter may be too salty), but they have other dishes. ‍. Love their shrimp and grits! I don't think anyone could find any better, not even in New Orleans. The only negative is the small amount of grits proportionate to shrimp. Of course we can always order more grits. The fresh vegetables are good too. read more
