So I had a horrible customer experience here. Was not greeted upon entering but immediately told I had to check my purse. When I asked why I was told the sign is on the door. Didn't even notice the sign among all the flyers posted but felt uncomfortable leaving my purse at the front so I went back out and locked it up in my car. After this embarrassing incident I noticed other women with larger bags shopping to their hearts content! I asked another shopper if they asked her to check her bag and was told no. My guy asked for a manager regarding the policy and was met with instant rudeness. I will NEVER shop at this location again. Mind you I had just shopped at the Folsom location 2 weeks prior with no issues! I felt really sad that we had this experience there when I entered other stores in the immediate area and shopped with no bias. when i first discovered this store i thought it was super cool and unique, the clutter adds to aesthetic i think. but i just have a problem with how selling works there. they low ball you A LOT, i tried to sell a few things that were worth about 1k, they messaged me offering me 50 in store credit and 40 DOLLARS IN CASH. THEN they put those things on the shelf for twice the price. i found that ridiculous and just decided to sell my things online. if your looking to get money by selling, this is definitely not the place at all. read more

I went to the cave looking through records. Found the record I liked. When I went to pay for it, they decided to change the price for more money at the checkout. They said they were looking for it for three days to change the price. I found it in 30 minutes. They would not honor the original price. When I asked to speak to the manager worst customer service ever. Watch out people when you buy something they might change the price on you. read more

The owners don't seem to hire anyone over 30. Most of the items aren't new, there's tons of memorabilia, and the employees are out of touch. When I enter the store some of them give me dirty looks. There have been some cordial ones, but I think they got fired, because the management that shows up is the worst I've ever seen. Management visits the store. Talks loud. Moves around the store like they've drank a gallon of coffee. Treat their employees poorly. Reprimand them in front of customers. Most of the staff wear rags, and they buy rags, because the racks are filled with rags. On a brighter note, there's a huge selection of quality items, that are affordable. Wear earphones & sunglasses, because the music can be painful, and you'll avoid being glared at by the staff. read more

Moved into a new house, my bf kept going on and on about how he wanted us to get some controllers for interactive games for his Playstation. When I couldnt find it anywhere else I was directed to the Cave. Tho we were on a mission to get those controllers we will have to take another trip back just to see what else is in there it appears they have alot to choose from. read more

The store is honestly a fever dream going into lmao but I be having a good ol time, it just depends on how much you are willing to spend on really cool collectibles from either your childhood or today; I found some Xena Warrior Princess dolls and grabbed them for me and my sister, was not expecting to come across them! A lot of the more in-demand items are from the currently trending anime & super heroes of course, so someone like me that's just trying to collect Barbie dolls almost always can come back and something will still be there. It's something for everybody, I will say that they have lots of clothes but I don't bother looking through, the Folsom area is cleaner and better organized, the other location had a funky smell I think somebody in there had gas and it lingered in one area for a while lol read more

For sheer volume of used CDs this place deserves - 4 stars. Organization of used CDs - 2 stars. I'll explain with photos below. Overwhelming amount of memorabilia, tons of sports jerseys, and various dust collector figurines, pins, and clothing. Vinyl? 4/5 Star rating - if you are after vinyl THIS is the place. Back to CDs - this is the most disorganized CD "treasure trove" ever assembled. Alphabetically arranged - yes. All of the "S" section was all together ("Sweet" was next to "Santana") so not alphabetical within the letter. Most titles were upside down so you can't read them quickly. I re-arranged the "S" section (your welcome) looking for a specific "Sweet" album "Give Us A Wink" and went through about 600 CDs in about an hour and a half - one Sweet CD, Greatest Hits $7.99 used. No thanks. Did find a Tower Of Power Live (right next to "S" LOL - for $5.99. At Amoeba I can spend $150 in an hour and a half because THEY are organized. You lost money today because I wasted so much time trying to find one item that should of took less than 20 minutes. Yes I can read through that many titles if they are all right side up and readable. I estimated 10/12 employees in the store on a weekday during regular work hours. You have resources please use them - I'll be back in 30 days and update my review. Average is at three stars for now. read more

It's a great store with Beatles albums in cd and L.P. formats, and a whole lot of other group's albums are there including AC/DC, Led Zeppelin,Pink Floyd,the Rolling Stones,and so many others. It's a charming store that also has movies and tv shows on DVD. I'm returning there tomorrow and i hope to trade a lot of stuff. read more

Absolute best place to shop for anything, because you will always find something fun, unless you were raised in a barn. Service is good. This type of store is a rare in todays world. I love the adventure that is shopping here, you'll never know what you'll find! The only issue is it's kind of a mess and prices can be a little all over the place. No guarantee things won't be more expensive than online. There's still some fun treasure to be found among the heaps of items! I can't leave a positive or a negative review of the Cave so I'm going to leave it in between. It definitely has it's pro's and con's when shopping at the store. And this goes for the Arden and Folsom locations. The Cave is definitely a cool store. They pretty much cater to everyone from collectibles, clothing to entertainment. You'll most likely find something you want when visiting. However, the store can be erratic in pricing, quality and merchandising. My biggest complaint is probably the merchandising. I come from a retail and background and when it comes to a store front, your eye needs to wander easily and smoothly. It's basically merchandising 101. The sections behind the glass counters is basically a cluster f**k. It's so hard to look back there that you have to take several glances just to make sure you see everything. It's so disorganized that most likely you'll just give up and move on to the next section. I feel like this is a missed opportunity on potential sales because something can be buried that you might actually want. The pricing is all over the place. I've seen the same item all at different prices. It shows that the buyers are not on the same page. It seems like when they're in doubt of pricing, they just turn to eBay. Some things you can find at cheap and others are completely overpriced. I suggest you check online before purchasing something because you're most likely to find it cheaper elsewhere. That doesn't mean everything is over priced. One thing I can say is overpriced are their comics. Their default pricing on comics is probably around $5. Most of the comics they have on the floor are like a dollar at actual comic book stores. When it comes to selling I would suggest aiming low at what you think you're going to get. They don't pay top dollar for your items so if you were planning on donating or really don't care for them, then this is the place for you. I've sold here a few times and took a couple things back because they low balled me. I didn't complain because there was really no point. I didn't want to look like that crazy customer. I politely asked for them back, done. For those sellers out there, PLEASE DON'T COMPLAIN TO THEM IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE PRICES THEY'RE OFFERING TO YOU. They're are NOT forcing you to sell them. I feel most people forget about that. If you don't like the prices you're getting, take them back politely and sell them somewhere else. Lastly, The need to do something about their inventory. Either have discounted sales or completely edit in what they're buying. I've seen things here since they first opened still at full price. The Arden store specifically is starting to look like a thrift store with everything that they have. It's like they're piling s**t onto more s**t and it's getting excessive to the point where certain sections are actually overflowing. It seems like they would rather hold on to things at full priced rather than having it on sale to make room for newer items. At the end of the day you're losing floor space with unsold merchandise. Okay this review is long. My verdict is that I will continue to shop here. The employees are mostly kids but fairly polite overall. I honestly never had a bad experience shopping or selling here. Sometimes I find something, sometimes I don't. But it's definitely work checking since the stores tends to have new things everyday. read more

Sorry but everything is so over priced, a vinyl record that usually sells for $25 everywhere was selling for $50 here. Keep in mind it was a 1 LP and wasn't a gatefold. Great vinyl selection but y'all needa lower your prices. read more

A month ago i came to their store to sell some manga books and they offer me 16$ for 7 manga worth so much value and i declined the offer and left the store i do not recommend for the ones who wants to sell manga or comic to this store they'll rip you off their prices. read more

Nov 8th 2024, while paying I was told a group of items were 0.99cents each like the rest of them in the store. Then while handing the Cash over to the Cashier the Security Guard Rico tells the cashier hey aren't those $1.99 and then the security guard proceeds to take the items and walk to another employee and says to her, not ask her - hey aren't these $1.99? and the other employee then agrees with him. Now all of a sudden the now 16 items for $20 is now $40! It's really Crazy he was getting my prices increased after just telling me how his son comes up big on the same stuff they are selling cheap. So after feeling I'm getting played by the security gaurd I asked to speak to the store manager since I already just purchased $47 worth of the same items and I also shop here often so I know the how they Typically price items Open vs Loose items. They give me the owner/managers number Drew who I call and explain the situation he then tells me to wait at the store while he calls the store and to hear their side of the story. Once he's done talking with the workers for about 10 minutes, the lady Emma comes over and says they are NOW $10 EACH! So I try and call the manager back and ask him why we are now at $10 from the .99 cents originally and of course what do you know he doesn't answer! I then send him a text saying I'll be leaving an awesome review of this experience at this business. He then quickly calls me back and now all of a sudden say's they are rare and vintage and he can't do anything but now to sell them at $10 each LOL I did not purchase the items, as I felt the pricing was unprofessional and the experience was unsatisfactory for a regular customer. I advised the manager/owner that I would be leaving a review about this incident which he did not seem to care at all. He seemed to be pricing them so high IMO that if I did buy it he would profit good from my purchase. Not sure what kind of scheme this is to increase profit but he made me want to return everything. If he's worrying about charging anyone more he should to his security gaurd and his people. If you come here make sure the security guard Rico doesn't get your prices increased. This is my experience at the cave location on Arden way and hope it helps stop this kind of experience at this location as I typically enjoy spending my hard earned money here. read more

Never in your life spend your money here on a record. I bought a vinyl record for somebody as a gift from the cave, and when I gave it to them, it was scratched, distorted, and didn't play correctly. Get back to the store with proof of purchase. They refused me an exchange or a refund. I asked them, "Why in your right mind would you guys sell a broken record?" The man working the counter said "I don't know." GOODBYE- I'll take my money somewhere else next time. read more

Definitely not trying to be rude but a lot of their stuff looks like from a run down garage sale. They have some items that are cool. Prices are alright, not the best. If you're selling to them, they will pay you GARAGE SALE PRICES. Brought at least 15 games, 20 pairs of name brand sunglasses (fendi, prada, raybans, and Tory Burch) and a pair of jordans with almost to no flaws and they offered $42. There are two stores, one in Folsom and the other on Arden way. The Aden way store is bigger, organized and has everything. The folsom store is a mess. I bought a used vinyl at the Arden store and was quite happy it had no scratches, ticks or defects. it's hard to find used vinyl that isn't junk but so far in quite happy with the Arden store, it appears they check vinyl before reselling. read more

This store is an absolute joke. Went in looking for a blu ray. ( have done this a thousand times at dimple) and couldn't find the movie so I asked if they could search if they got it.... They said with a straight face that whenever I look up a movie it just says dvd section..... joke store ran horribly. Nothing is alphabetized (even though it says it is) so sad to see the state of poor dimple. It's more of a toy store anymore. read more

If you're planning on selling items such as clothing dont ! Get your money elsewhere. They're offers are so low that most of the time their offers arent even 10% of the actual value of the items. Brought in a jacket with an estimate worth of $300 + a pair of shoes (+$150) and after 30 minutes of waiting i got an offer for $20... while they had another jacket of the SAME BRAND selling for $200. Usually they offer based on condition and what the item is but it seems like they just give you change for your good items. Wouldnt recommend selling here. Get your moneys worth online! read more

I dropped off items to sell at this location, I asked the associate receiving the items how long they are held when customers are obligated to drop off during busy times. He said they are in the back for up to a month. After not getting a message for an offer to sell or trade for 7-10 days, I messaged and called the phone number who sends offers for other items on previous occasions, they responded asking me my name, items and date of drop off, they never messaged again after that. I was sad to see they had gotten rid of my vintage items assuming I had "donated" it, they offered to "make it right" by offering under $20 in store credit but my items were estimated to be much higher in value. Be careful of their drop off system, as they don't have anything posted to clarify their drop off system to buy. It's upsetting for customers like me whos vintage items have been lost by The Cave (they were my toys from childhood which I much rather to have taken back instead of the store credit). Deeply upsetting. read more

Arden Store: They won't give you a heck of a lot for whatever you are selling but it beats having a pair of new shoes sitting in your closet for another 10 years. You might as well get a few bucks for them. I wish they would take all of their sneakers/shoes and put them all in one main section instead of them being scattered all over the store. This place is fun to rummage through, the workers weren't unfriendly but they didn't seem too happy being there. You could spend a whole day there looking at stuff but I wish they could do something about getting the shoes and sneakers more organized. They have some in locked cages, some on top of shirt displays and some behind counters. If a manager is reading this, I guarantee you would sell more shoes if they were in one spot and organized (maybe by size). Pretty cool store over all. read more

I wanted to like The Cave as I miss Dimple Records (especially the Arden store) very much and, if The Cave was a good store, it would help fill a much-needed gap in that area of Sacramento. Sadly, the store is a mess with broken action figures and junk like cassette tapes just kicking around in boxes. It is so messy, it is hard to focus to shop. I had a gigantic list of used vinyl I was shopping for, but it's almost impossible to search for specific titles because nothing is alphabetized, other than throwing the music in under the A's, the B's, etc. Despite whatever its condition may be, used vinyl is shrink-wrapped and mixed in with the new albums. The prices for vinyl are insane, especially for used records. The cheapest used record I found was $9.99.....for an EP. Dimple had used vinyl for a more reasonable $3.99, which is what I want am willing to pay for old albums. The CD's were in such disarray, again randomly tossed in under A, B, C, etc, and not sub-alphabetized, that I gave up looking. Most CD titles seemed to be mainstream titles that you can find anywhere. Finding something more rare than Dave Matthews Band or Matchbox 20 would take some work. The Cave is a complete bust for the record-collecting rock music fan. There's also a clothing section I haven't been in, but it seemed there were more customers there than in the music areas. Parking is difficult too. I had to sneakily park at the restaurant next door. They need to get better organized for starts, drop their used vinyl prices, and maybe I will pop in again but right now, The Cave is thumbs down. read more

Horrible experience the other day. I have lived in Arden area for 4yrs now. When my husband, my son and I found the cave, we loved it. My son is obsessed with marvel. Over the years we have spent a lot of time and a ton of $$$ at this location. Recently my daughter and I had went in bought some vinyl records some clothes spent over 200$. Well some of the clothes didn't fit right so the Very Next day I brought my oldest daughter with me. We get out the car start to walk in and my HAND SIZED PURSE IS UNZIPPED THE "SECURITY GAURD" Looked at me and then my purse and shoke his head and said uh uh uh you better zip that up or better yet give it to me your going to have to keep it behind the counter here. I said what anyhow I proceeded to walk back to my car because I had forgotten the bag of clothes we were returning. I was furious i have never been spoke to in such a manner it was so disrespectful. Then the red headed manager and one of the employees where giggling as I talked to them. I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE AGAIN. YOU LOST A GOOD CUSTOMER. I can't believe the owners of this place are allowing some disrespectful security guard treat people this way. And the manager is just as bad SHE HAS SEEN ME 100+ TIMES IN THIS STORE SHOULD KNOW I SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS AT THIS STORE EVERY 2-3 WEEKS. I have 2 teenage daughters and a 5yr old son who always picks out one of your overpriced marvel characters SHAME ON YOU. read more
