I grew up playing video games, and I still play here and there, so I already knew this place was going to be pure nostalgia for me and it definitely was. I was a kid in a candy story and totally geeking out! Walking around the store brought back so many childhood memories. They had games I honestly haven't seen in over 30 years, along with all kinds of consoles and games from different generations. Some of these games I probably would never play again, but just seeing them on the shelves took me back. It was cool seeing the old-school Nintendo video game magazines. Some of those magazines have to be close to 30 years old! The entire store was basically one big nostalgia trip. I didn't end up buying anything, but I still enjoyed just walking around and checking everything out. If you grew up gaming or have played on different systems over the past 40 years, this is definitely a place worth checking out.

Ever since we moved to Sacramento a few years ago, every visit to 1-Up has felt like stepping into a real-life time machine. The moment you walk in, you're surrounded by nostalgia, memories, and pure joy. Whether it's seeing shelves packed with retro classics or spotting consoles you haven't touched in 20+ years, it instantly takes you back. The owner and staff are all incredibly cool, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about gaming history. I'm always blown away by the little-known facts and stories they know about these old-school titles. You can tell this isn't just a business to them, it's something they truly love. Special shoutout to Travis for the amazing customer service and for hooking my son up with a PS2 Slim in fantastic working condition. Seriously, where else can you walk in today and find a retro console like that, fully functional, along with a huge selection of games ready to relive those memories? Lots of different accessories and other fun pieces of nostalgia as well. If you like physical media this is a great place to check out. Hours open are Friday-Sunday but the owner is also open for appointments if you call ahead. I was able to find a couple of fun NES games and I thought they were a good value for the price. The games were nice and clean and worked right away when I got home and tested them. It was also cool to see some newer niche retro games in the shop too. Owner was friendly. Bailey was also great to work with as he was the person I sold the most to. You must know you will not get full market value for your comics or collectibles but what they do offer is fair and didn't feel like a low ball offer at all. I have no complaints or reservations about the overall transactions. My comic collecting days are over but if you're a collector this is the gold standard for Sacramento area comic shops. Between their Wednesday live sales and what seems to be every other month or so 50% back issue sales there are great opportunities to build your collection at fair prices. Their toy/collectible section has really expanded in the past few years particularly at the Auburn location. I'll still pop in from time to time to check out the collectibles. Have found some great stuff in the past! All 3 locations are worth a visit. Staff has always been friendly and everything seems to be well stocked and organized. Give em' a visit if you haven't yet. I had a very disappointing experience with this store. I successfully registered for their One…read morePiece pre-release event and made arrangements to attend, including driving approximately 45 minutes to get there. When I arrived, I was informed that the staff had manually removed me from the event without providing any prior notice. The staff member stated that he was in charge of the gaming events and had the discretion to remove registered participants who were not considered frequent or regular players. While I understand that the store may have its own policies regarding event participation, removing someone who successfully registered without any advance communication is disappointing and unprofessional. If a successful registration through the Bandai registration system does not actually guarantee a spot and participation is ultimately at the store's discretion, that should be clearly disclosed on the registration page or event details. Customers should know this before registering and making plans to attend. At a minimum, if the store decides to remove a registered participant, a courtesy call, text, or email should be provided so customers do not unnecessarily rearrange their schedules or make a wasted trip to the store. People have jobs, families, and other responsibilities and have to coordinate their schedules to attend these events. Not everyone has the ability to attend every local event or regularly visit the store. The lack of communication and consideration for customers' time was extremely frustrating. Based on this experience, I would be hesitant to register for another event here.

She knows the stuff! They also carry gunpla bases. They don't have many kits at the moment, though. They also carry many other model kits, such as planes, ships, and cars.
