The French toast was really FLAT. I'm in the business of cutting carbs so I didn't argue but would have wanted a better grade of bread and fluffier French toast, not bad though. The waffles were good in texture and taste. Didn't want to break the bank but wanted a good breakfast meal and we got exactly that. The vanilla latte I thought actually tasted better than Starbucks. The Good: This place is nice and cozy. They have a nice outdoor seating area with a pergola. There are outdoor games(to occupy your time while you wait). We received a very friendly greeting from the hostess and were seated immediately. The menu is virtual. And the fried chicken was seasoned well. The Not So Good: It took our waitress some time to come to our table. By then we knew what we wanted to order. She admitted to us that she was tired. It's 11AM. Usually when you order a beverage, that requires condiments, your server will ask before bringing your beverage. Every waitress asked after they brought the beverage. So you had to wait until they brought the condiments to enjoy your beverage. My husband I both ordered the chicken and waffles. From my POV it was not super busy. The interior had cleared out and outside there were two tables of 6 and two tables of 2. One table of six behind us, who we thought was just chilling and enjoying the good weather, received their food 30 minutes after we sat down. We received our food after a total of 40 minutes after we ordered. I love the premise behind this place and wanted to like it. Great little place near downtown Austell, where you can a quick breakfast and a nice cup of Joe. I ordered food to go as I was on my way to a class @ Chattahoochee Tech.... Happy I decided to yelp the place. The restaurant is a nice size, they had light jazz music playing....not very crowed for a Friday morning but the service was excellent, the food was good as well..... I ended up ordering a waffle........ the waffle mix was the bomb. and I ordered a cream cheese danish for later ( NO Judgment please- I workout-sometimes -lol ) . The chicken wrap and fries is my go-to dish here. The patty melt is a fav of my son. The service is great and the staff is very nice and professional. Their salads are delicious as well. Loaded with tasty veggies, with the eggs cooked just right. The platter was also delicious. The waffle was just the right amount of crispy, but still light and fluffy. If you like your coffee strong, this is the place for you. Bold and full of flavor, it was also excellent. We were one of two couples in the restaurant when we arrived for our early breakfast (before 8am), with only one visible wait staff. Sooooo.... I am a southern girl. So when people ask me to recommend soul food in and around Atlanta I am like " my mama's kitchen". But nowadays every once in a while if I can't get to mom's kitchen I need something close. I wanted a good soul food brunch but I would settle for a gentrified one. Then I came upon the Cenacle. If you blink you will miss it, so keep your eyes open in Austell. On this fine Sunday afternoon, we opened the door and were welcomed as if we were regulars. We ordered: fish and grits , shrimp and grits, and red velvet chicken and waffles. The fish had a nice lite batter fried to perfection. But I did find the grits a tad thick. The shrimp were seasoned well but had tails on, which if they are over grits is a no no. The fried chicken wings had the kids quiet and chomping for a while but the red velvet waffles were not crisp and a little gummy like it was cake batter put in a waffle maker. Buttttt an employee saw that and bent down and asked for my daughters feedback and brought out a fresh waffle to go. Of course it's the food for me but it is also the service. Let's just say I was left feeling so warm and cozy by the coffee shop vibes, and warm hospitality that I will give Cenacle a second try. read more

I have driven past this place a million times and said multiple times I am going to go there, so much so that when I told my manger I was there she said about time! I was sadly disappointed. First the guy that took my order did not know anything. I asked him two questions and both times he said one second and turned to the lady to his right and asked her and then turned back to me and told me like I did not just hear her. Now granted, I give benefit of the doubt, he may have been new, been there before, and that is not why I am giving three stars. The first star is because I gave him my order, I repeated it, he repeated it, and after I placed my order he ran over to my table and told/asked me if I had the turkey sausage so quickly I just said yes and then realized, wait, (to myself), that wasn't the meat I wanted, and had to go back up to the counter and tel him. Star lost number two is because when he asked for my name after I gave him my order, he brought me the wrong order, so of course, I had to go back to the counter, and they did not give me my entire order, so for the third time after waiting 30 minutes for my food, (he did say it would be 15-20 minutes), I had to go back up to the counter. My dad had a caramel late and a biscuit (sausage, egg, and cheese), and I had a turtle latte and the cenacle breakfast platter; pecan waffle, bacon, and eggs (which is what they left out of my order). It was not that great, the best thing was the latte. I am glad I finally came through, but I won't be back. read more

A friend of mine referred me to this coffee shop. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they offered breakfast all day and other non-breakfast menu items throughout the day. They do have a soul food sunday menu which I may come back for. I had the shrimp and grits which was good. They added chicken sausage turkey bacon and this white cream sauce which was different but good as well. I didn't have coffee since it was late afternoon I just had a sweet tea with my meal. My server was super sweet. I really enjoyed the outdoor seating area. I definitely have to come back here and try some more menu items ! read more

Please wait to be seated. The food is worth it. The grits are good & hot. They were seasoned perfectly. I also had the salmon croquettes, crunchy on the outside, tender and delicious on the inside. I would have liked them more with some form of garnishing, maybe lemon, tomato or avocado. The wait staff was friendly ,but working alone was not very attentive. The owner has created an environment comfortable for the local Wi-fi user and anyone needing to gather a group for a small outdoor luncheon. The Bistro looks okay. However, it could be a little cleaner and some outdoor lush vegetation could be added for ambiance and privacy to increase the overall dining pleasure and the bottom line. This establishment is in a mixed industrial commercial area with high traffic and a first glance could be easily mistaken as an automotive repair business or a small factory. I would place the word Bistro on top of Cenacle to let the business lunch crowd demographic know food & drinks are being served. Also in the front windows, using red or yellow paint I would write, "Southern Breakfast Cuisine served all day." The food was oily, the egg omelette was thin, we waited a hour and fifteen minutes for our food on a two seated table with not a busy restaurant and had to deal with the terrible service and rude server along with mediocre food. Cute little coffee shop with great customer service, lots of variety on the menu that you can tell is cooked fresh to order. It's a nice spot to grab a hearty meal mid day. Some items on the lunch menu tend to be a little greasy during the last three times I went. I've had the Chicken sandwich, the Cenacle wings and the cheeseburger. The chicken sandwich has been by far the best item I've purchased thus far, but would've been better if my condiments were added as I requested. The cheeseburger was definitely ground beef and was very heavy. The party itself was definitely homemade but aging was greasy. The cenacle wings were ok, they didn't seem seasoned prior to cooking but the old bay was prominent on the surface of the wings. Parking was sparse in the front of the building but I'm not sure if there is additional parking in the rear of the building. Desserts are great, and the coffee choices look to be great as well. I live barely 10 minutes away in Powder Springs and had never given it more than a passing glance when I drove by. They have a nice sized menu offering made to order breakfast items along with a lunch menu, full drink menu and a full display of desserts. My boyfriend didn't like his grits, he claimed they were under seasoned but he also puts way too much salt on his food. Been here on a few occasions trying to find a staple and nearby breakfast restaurant. Each time i have been, i cannot finish my food. The food is merely lack luster and trust me when i say i really wanted to like this place, which is why i came back 6-7x. The service is truly hit or miss. We have had a waitress who was very attentive, another who was rude and seemed like she didn't want to be bothered at all and another who was kind when we entered but then completely disappeared. I am truly confused about some of the reviews that say the ambiance is cute; it is not. They have Jinga available to play near the front door but all the blocks are extremely dirty, dusty and sticky.
