I was looking for breakfast in the Austell/Mableton area and this coffee shop/restaurant caught my attention. The reviews were positive and I was interested in seeing exactly where the restaurant was located. I ordered the breakfast platter which included eggs, sausage links and French toast. I added a size of cheese grits because they are my favorite. The flavor was good in general but I liked the sausage links the best. The cheese grits were creamy but not the best I've had. The French toast was a bit crunchy on the ends and I prefer mine soft. Parking is in the rear of the establishment and there is outdoor seating in the front. The restaurant is clean and has plenty of natural light to make you feel warm and fuzzy. I actually worked on the day that I visited and enjoyed the bright natural light. The waitress was fairly young and it took her a bit of time to bring my coffee, food and she didn't check on me as frequently as I would have liked. There was a 'hiring' sign on the door, so I am assuming they are short handed. Vegan Items There were vegan items on the menu and veggie plates are offered on Sunday. Soul Food The restaurant serves soul food on Sundays from 12pm - 3pm and offer great options such as ox tails, friend green tomatoes, smothered turkey wings, salmon croquettes, salmon, catfish and meatloaf along with sides: mac & cheese, rice, collards, broccoli, squash casserole and sweet potatoes. I heard about this spot from my cousin who lives in the area, and I got a chance to check it out today for lunch after appointments and errands. I believe it may be black-owned, but I'm not certain. I really wanted the Salmon Croquettes but I was told that they didn't have it. The Chicken with Red Velvet Waffles is bone-in wingettes and not boneless chicken on top of the waffle. So, I got the Salmon and Grits and red velvet waffle on the side. Everything was delicious, but the waitress did note that the salmon size was smaller than usual so she deducted an amount from my bill because of that. I appreciated her honesty. I accidentally arrived at an appointment an hour early. After realizing my mistake and refusing to either go home or wait in the parking lot, I decided to find a breakfast spot in the area. After pulling up yelp and seeing the review average and some nice-looking food pictures, I pulled my navigation and headed that way. After walking into the restaurant, I arrived at a divinely orchestrated moment. It was a cute space with traditional tables as well as a sofa and cute outdoor seating. Husband and I ate here today for the first time but it will definitely not be the last. Everyone was so nice and our waitress was fantastic! We both got Americano coffees and they were delicious. The chai tea was disappointing. It was about 99.5% milk if not more. It taste like milk. I would spend the money on that again. Breakfast juices are bottled and milk and water are in plastic cups with lids. Interior dinning can be loud when crowded and the exterior seating has limited shaded tables to choose from. The pancakes where slightly over cooked and the syrup quality did not help to meal. Bacon was crisp and tasty. It is a good spot to grab a bite to eat with potential. Despite what Google says, this restaurant is open on Sundays EARLY. Watch out The Hive and BQE because The Cenacle has the red velvet chicken waffles recipe on lock! As a self proclaimed red velvet chicken and waffle connoisseur, the icing was amazing, the waffles were soft and moist, the chicken passed the scrape test and was so crispy and flakey and seasoned to perfection. Not to mention they used actual chicken wings (drums and flats) and not chicken tenders. The service was pretty quick considering their morning rush had just died down. I'd say to avoid it come around 1130. The ambiance gave small town southern quaint coffee shop with a touch of brunch vibes. I cannot wait to go back! Very friendly and welcoming staff. There's no wow factor here far as the food and decor, but everything was done well and tasty. We did have a longer wait than anticipated to get our food though. Definitely more a family feel to this restaurant. Lots of kids on a Saturday. I do have a gripe about the brunch menu only being available on Sunday. That feels like waisted potential for Saturday crowds. The Cenacle is a neighborhood gem. Nested between the Post Office and an empty lot, this restaurant serves as a neighborhood staple. Funnily enough, I've never actually dined in but the several times I've picked food up here, there's always a nice crowd of patrons dining in. There is plenty of parking and the space itself is big. There are regular tables, high tops, and outdoor seating available, which is nice during the changing seasons. The menu has a lot of options and I haven't tried anything I didn't like. So far, I recommend the honey chicken biscuit, the breakfast bowls, the wraps (chicken and veggie), and I really enjoy the smoothies -- I usually mix up the flavors. The staff are great, super friendly, knowledgeable, and doing their best. I really enjoy coming here. I haven't tried the brunch menu yet, but when I do I'll update my review. read more

First time trying out for breakfast. Easy drive down Veterans Memorial. Four parking spaces in front and additional parking in back; doors in front and back to get in easy. Very clean and decor is pleasing to the eye. Service was wonderful and everyone was so happy and friendly. Praise music was coming through the speakers so it is hard to be unhappy with that. Try: The turtle iced coffee, grits + hash browns. First time coming here I only ordered the turtle iced coffee. Second time, I order the turtle iced coffee. Third time, you already know. The bacon was buttery + crispy (almost burnt) just how I like it. The hash browns were full of flavor. The grits were stone ground, thick + packed with flavor - don't need cheese for these. My iced coffee was served in a plastic wine glass. It wasn't made quite right by the first person, but the waitress understood what I wanted + remade it for me with ease. They closed at 3pm + I sat there until 3:30 to finish up some work. When I payed my tab, I thanked them for not kicking me out, but one of the ladies confidently said "oh, we're not closed" lol I reminded her of their closing time while laughing. I could've sat a little longer because it wasn't like they were in a rush to clean + leave anyway lol here's why... The turnoff: when I walked in, there was a table with plates left on it to my left. To my right, there was a couple eating. After they left, the plates weren't picked up. I sat between two dirty tables for almost 2 hours. It wasn't busy, so they had time. It's a small place so keeping the tables clean should be important. There was a clean table between each of the tables, but still.. still an eyesore, but I just minded my business + drank my iced coffee. The good: easy place to sit, work + listen to music. Visited for brunch one early afternoon. The waitress was awesome, her energy was on point and she truly seemed like she didn't mind being at work. Environment was also warm and friendly. She recommended some coffee drinks for us to try after we inquired about them as well as gave menu recommendations. We each had a caramel macchiato which was good, however it wasn't as sweet as I would have liked and am used to. I had an omelet with waffles and hubby had shrimp and grits. My meal was ok but nothing spectacular and the shrimp and grits were good. I do feel as though we have had larger portions of shrimp and grits at other restaurants for cheaper or maybe just about the same price, but I do understand prices are not the same everywhere. It is a small, cozy restaurant that also sells cakes. We did purchase a slice of Red Velvet cake and it was tasty as well. You can dine outside in the front of the restaurant too. I was really excited to meet a friend here for a late weekday breakfast. But after going...I would only recommend you go if you have hours to spare because this is not a well-oiled service place. Arriving was pleasant - we were welcomed and shown to a table. There were 4 other tables. No worries right? Wrong. After seating, we viewed the menu via QR code and waited for the server to come back to ask for our drink orders. And waited. At least 10 mins just to order some water. Than another 5 mins to get the water. The place is not that big....one does not have to walk miles to the drinks. We placed our order when the drinks came luckily....but had to repeat what meat we selected... Because I then saw the other tables that had been there before we arrived...getting their food...table by table by table. I love that food is cooked to order but I thought the kitchen could handle more than one order at a time? We had to constantly wave our server down (again, this is not a big place....it shouldnt be that hard to hit all 4 tables constantly...) I was on a work break so I didnt have hours and started to get antsy. It took 40 minutes to receive our meals. We had to rush to eat them. I've lived in Austell for about 10 years and never realized this place was there until the added the outside awning and eating area, which was a much needed and appreciated upgrade. This little shop is a black owned business and a hidden gem in my community.
