After walking into the restaurant, I arrived at a divinely orchestrated moment. It was a cute space with traditional tables as well as a sofa and cute outdoor seating. The server was welcoming and provided excellent service. I found that it's a Black-owned business, and there was some nice gospel jazz playing in the background that helped set a mood. Friendly staff with a warm welcome. Parking is tricky due to the street traffic and the stop light, but easy to access just hard to egress. Breakfast juices are bottled and milk and water are in plastic cups with lids. Interior dinning can be loud when crowded and the exterior seating has limited shaded tables to choose from. The Cenacle is a neighborhood gem. Nested between the Post Office and an empty lot, this restaurant serves as a neighborhood staple. Funnily enough, I've never actually dined in but the several times I've picked food up here, there's always a nice crowd of patrons dining in. There is plenty of parking and the space itself is big. There are regular tables, high tops, and outdoor seating available, which is nice during the changing seasons. The menu has a lot of options and I haven't tried anything I didn't like. So far, I recommend the honey chicken biscuit, the breakfast bowls, the wraps (chicken and veggie), and I really enjoy the smoothies -- I usually mix up the flavors. First time trying out for breakfast. Easy drive down Veterans Memorial. Four parking spaces in front and additional parking in back; doors in front and back to get in easy. Very clean and decor is pleasing to the eye. Service was wonderful and everyone was so happy and friendly. Praise music was coming through the speakers so it is hard to be unhappy with that. Visited for brunch one early afternoon. The waitress was awesome, her energy was on point and she truly seemed like she didn't mind being at work. Environment was also warm and friendly. She recommended some coffee drinks for us to try after we inquired about them as well as gave menu recommendations. We each had a caramel macchiato which was good, however it wasn't as sweet as I would have liked and am used to. I had an omelet with waffles and hubby had shrimp and grits. My meal was ok but nothing spectacular and the shrimp and grits were good. I do feel as though we have had larger portions of shrimp and grits at other restaurants for cheaper or maybe just about the same price, but I do understand prices are not the same everywhere. Try: The turtle iced coffee, grits + hash browns. First time coming here I only ordered the turtle iced coffee. Second time, I order the turtle iced coffee. Third time, you already know. This time: I upgraded - I sat inside to sip + chill + actually ordered some food. I ordered the hash brown casserole bowl with eggs, cheese + turkey bacon. The bacon was buttery + crispy (almost burnt) just how I like it. The hash browns were full of flavor. The grits were stone ground, thick + packed with flavor - don't need cheese for these. My iced coffee was served in a plastic wine glass. It wasn't made quite right by the first person, but the waitress understood what I wanted + remade it for me with ease. They closed at 3pm + I sat there until 3:30 to finish up some work. When I payed my tab, I thanked them for not kicking me out, but one of the ladies confidently said "oh, we're not closed" lol I reminded her of their closing time while laughing. I could've sat a little longer because it wasn't like they were in a rush to clean + leave anyway lol here's why... The turnoff: when I walked in, there was a table with plates left on it to my left. To my right, there was a couple eating. After they left, the plates weren't picked up. I sat between two dirty tables for almost 2 hours. It wasn't busy, so they had time. It's a small place so keeping the tables clean should be important. There was a clean table between each of the tables, but still.. still an eyesore, but I just minded my business + drank my iced coffee. The good: easy place to sit, work + listen to music. I was really excited to meet a friend here for a late weekday breakfast. But after going...I would only recommend you go if you have hours to spare because this is not a well-oiled service place. Arriving was pleasant - we were welcomed and shown to a table. There were 4 other tables. No worries right? Wrong. After seating, we viewed the menu via QR code and waited for the server to come back to ask for our drink orders. And waited. At least 10 mins just to order some water. Than another 5 mins to get the water. The place is not that big....one does not have to walk miles to the drinks. Because I then saw the other tables that had been there before we arrived...getting their food...table by table by table. I love that food is cooked to order but I thought the kitchen could handle more than one order at a time? We had to constantly wave our server down (again, this is not a big place....it shouldnt be that hard to hit all 4 tables constantly...) I was on a work break so I didnt have hours and started to get antsy. It took 40 minutes to receive our meals. We had to rush to eat them. This little shop is a black owned business and a hidden gem in my community. The Good: This place is nice and cozy. They have a nice outdoor seating area with a pergola. There are outdoor games(to occupy your time while you wait). We received a very friendly greeting from the hostess and were seated immediately. The menu is virtual. And the fried chicken was seasoned well. The Not So Good: It took our waitress some time to come to our table. By then we knew what we wanted to order. She admitted to us that she was tired. It's 11AM. Usually when you order a beverage, that requires condiments, your server will ask before bringing your beverage. Every waitress asked after they brought the beverage. So you had to wait until they brought the condiments to enjoy your beverage. My husband I both ordered the chicken and waffles. From my POV it was not super busy. The interior had cleared out and outside there were two tables of 6 and two tables of 2. One table of six behind us, who we thought was just chilling and enjoying the good weather, received their food 30 minutes after we sat down.
