Good morning, Good day, Good evening! I really, really, really wanted to give this a establishment the highest grade ever. I have drove by it numerous time because I frequent a few other places in the area(post office and a doughnut shop). So my sister/friend and I look at the menu and the over all place before going. She wanted to try it as well. It is located the far west side of Veterans Memorial Hwy. It is located on a busy corner but very convenient. We decided to sit outside because the weather was nice and covid of course. We were greeted by a young that cleaning tables and he asked were we dining with them and we responded yes. He told us to sit where we wanted, so we did. We sat for about 10 minutes before someone came over. We did make the assumptions we would look at the menu bc the QR code was there. They young lady came over, very friendly. We told her this was our first time and I am a believer of asking about what popular and or any recommendations. After her not really knowing what was best. My sister/friend went with the turkey wings, yams and collard greens and I opted for the Salmon and grits. They offer a Soul Food Brunch Menu on Sundays. For our drinks, I got a Arnold Palmer and my sis went with a Mango smoothie and waters for sure. Our service was so weird, the food came out cold except for her sides. That was after a 45 min wait. No refills on my Arnold Palmer. Yall this place was not crowded at all. I watched nearby tables complain about the service. Maybe there were more people in the inside but there was still no excuse for the cold food after that kind of wait. I sent my back because I couldn't eat cold grits. The waitress apologized, she returned with the plate 6 minutes later bc I timed it and it was a slight bit better. We were approached twice before our food came out, with other persons food. It just seemed to be alot going on but nothing going on if you get my drift. Once our checks finally came, my friend snatched my bill :-) as a late birthday lunch and the waitress said oh we give free dessert for birthdays, what would you like, she made a suggestion. Bought it our about 10 mins later with no silverware. So, when someone was passing our table and I asked for it to go meaning a box or something. That shows up. we sat and talked for another 45 minutes and we were asked on numerous occasions if we were ok like ummmmm when are yall leaving but they wasnt anyone waiting bc they closed at 3. All the way weird experience. Last thing: I think she was the owner but a lady came to our table asking how was everything we explained it all, she said thanks for the feedback, no apology. weird right. Walked and was greeted by this wonderful, cute, extremely friendly, force of a young lady named Chrissy! She had great energy and really set the tone for what was a great experience! Our server Nani was really nice and professional!!! Now for the food!!! Oooooh!! Weeee!!! It was EVERYTHING!! We ordered the Salmon Croquettes and Grits, Veggie Omelette, and Hashbrown Casserole! Everything was Aaaaamazing! Super fresh and soooo hot!! I'm so tired of going to places and the food is lukewarm, soooo this was great!! The grits were creamy and savory!! I didn't even have to add sugar! Lol!! The coffee is perfect too! This is a coffee cafe, so not surprised! My vanilla caramel latte with almond milk was the business! The Cenacle is a good little spot to get breakfast/brunch/lunch if you're in South Cobb. You can sit down or order to-go. Service was a bit slow (when we visited we were quick to be seated, but it took about 10 minutes for a server to come over and take our drink order), so just factor that in. This might be an ideal place to go when you aren't in a rush. The food was good once it arrived. Ordered a sandwich and it was tasty and generously portioned. The vibe of the space was relatively relaxed, the hostess was lovely. A very cute and quaint spot in Austell. Was looking for more of a cafe spot and learned they had dine in so we sat for breakfast. I had the chicken & waffles which were decent and a caramel latte w/ oatmilk that was delicious. Sadly the waffle fell a little flat for me. The chicken was flavorful but I was expecting whole wings instead of regular wings. My spouse raved about the cheesy potato casserole which was really good. Our daughter cleaned her plate of French toast and bacon. The space is cute and the customer service was great. Everyone was super welcoming and made us feel comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed this place. Hot and tasty food and coffee. We had a decent wait time for our food but we did have about 6 ppl including babies. Sorry my friend asked for a full refund just because of the wait EVEN though our food was literally perfect and the owner himself apologized for the delay. We were celebrating a birthday and settled on Cinicle, which is a local black owned restaurant. Upon arrival we were greeted with smiles. Everyone was super nice and pleasant. AJ was our friendly, attentive and professional waitress. All the food was AMAZING. We had a variety of items, which we shared. All the items were very well seasoned. The stoned ground were in a class of there own. I have never had restaurant grits that were perfect. I was so impressed. The service, the food, the atmosphere were all 5 star. This is my second time at The Cenacle, the first time I tried the fish and grits and I must say it was really good. Everything was seasoned well and the catfish was good and crispy and it was actual catfish and not Swai. This time I tried the chicken and red velvet waffle. The chicken was good, I loved the seasoning on the batter but my waffle was not cooked completely. I sent it back and they brought me another one promptly. It still was softer than I prefer my waffle to be but the flavor was pretty good. Sadly, my experience was not the best on my most recent visit. Ya'll, wouldn't you know it we brought our family this time. Our server said things were off in the kitchen but it was really her forgetfulness and not checking on us that spoiled the experience. Drinks came before the food. A few food items were missing. After reminding our server a couple of times, she went MIA so we depended on others to get the things missing. Kudos to the hostess (who had seated us), another waitress, and the young man in the green shirt for helping us. By the time we could eat, the food was lukewarm or cold. There were other issues but you get the idea of what we experienced. We had hoped the owners or management would come and speak with us. Not a word. Needless to say, the family we brought was not impressed. As we were leaving, the hostess enthusiastically wished us a good day. We appreciated this so much!! When my husband and I find a good spot, we are loyal customers, especially black-owned businesses. Consistency (across the board) is key. It will be a while before we dine in again. read more

When we walked I we noticed the inside was smallish for the amount of tables that were inside but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because it was raining & they had a beautiful patio that if it wasn't raining I'm definitely sure would have been more space-ish in inside but that's my only con. As for food & service, this place was great! I got the Chicken & Waffles!! The chicken comes in a 3, 4, 5 piece. I got the three and wish I got the 4. That chicken was amazing and with that soft but not too soft waffle! Also got a English toffee cappuccino that was delicious! We will be coming back to try the Salmon Croquettes! read more

The food ok but it didn't impress me enough to return. Service: The young guy that took my order was nice and did everything to try and get my order correct. The lady training him however lacked interpersonal skills. She was very dry and cold. Maybe she was having a bad day, who knows. Note: I sat outside While talking to the guest at the table next to me, the female server explained that myself and the table next to me needed to leave because someone needed to water the flowers. Mind you, the establishment does not have a sprinkler system that disburses water from the top of the trellis that covers the outdoor space. So, how/why is it the person responsible for watering the plants couldn't do so around us. Food: I asked that my bacon not be crispy. It came out crispy. Then it took more than 20/30 minutes to get fresh bacon cooked correctly. It had taken so long that my plate already been removed from the table and I was given my bacon in a to-go container about 10 minutes before I left. - I am not a fan of the honey butter in the grits. If it wasn't honey butter, whatever it is had an after taste that wasn't appealing to my tastebuds. If you are looking for southern style grits you will want to pass. I try to take pictures and often times when I forget it's because the food was so good I ate it before I realize I hadn't taken any. This time, it didn't speak to me enough to wanna take pictures. I met my work daughter at The Cenacle around noon for brunch. Although we were quickly seated it took about 10 minutes or more for a server to come over and take our orders. It took another 15 minutes or more before we received our orders including our drinks which wasn't a major issue for us as we were catching up and not in a rush. The food was good once it arrived. I ordered the breakfast bowl with beef sausage and cheese on the eggs (which was a extra $.65 but very scarce). As a southern girl I'm very picky about my grits and I must say they were very good and well seasoned. So much so that I ate my ENTIRE order. The server we had was friendly and checked on us once however, I asked for a water refill and never received it. Didn't push the issue as were leaving in a few minutes. The other positive thing was that although they close at 3, they did not rush the customers that was still in the restaurant that were still eating and/or socializing as was the case with me and my work daughter. Updated review: I'm not coming back. After coming time and time again, this visit overshadows the many. I was told I couldn't order kids platters (to go) when I'm the father of two 3-year old daughter(s). The hostesses were friendly and attentive and I typically get enough food for my family but before I could even order the rest of my order I was cut short with "you can't order that without them in here..." Aside from the fact that I've brought my family here before, telling me I can't order an adult meal and two kids meal is insane. Great local restaurant in Austell! My mom and sister told me about this place and I'm happy I finally came. I went here on a Saturday morning with my husband and 2 small children. There's a few parking spots on the front side and more parking in the rear with doors into the restaurant at the front and back. The first thing that struck us was the cute patio which wasn't covered but had string lights and fans from wooden beams. They also have free wifi, so my husband said he'll be back to work from there sometime. Inside, the tables are way to close, so much so that I needed to move a chair behind us so that my child could get in and out. Our waitress was nice and attentive. We were the only people in the place for about 20 minutes and then people started rolling in. Lucky for us, because the kitchen took a long time to get our food out so I'm not sure how long we would've waited if we were in that later pack of people. The food was excellent though. The grits and eggs were well seasoned, the bacon had a nice taste and texture, and the waffles were nice and fluffy. We also had the total omelet (tons of veggie and one meat), and a sausage patty. Both of those were great as well. I'm looking forward to coming back to try the vegan French toast. My oldest is allergic to eggs and was looking forward to the vegan French toast which he only gets at home but they were out of their vegan bread (we make at home with regular bread and odd ingredients like black Himalayan salt and nutritional yeast so not sure how it's made here). This place is GREAT! I'm saying a good self-respecting southerner made them grits! Not "those grits," them there grits! My love and I stopped in for a working breakfast and were met with a clean and comforting environment. We each ordered grits, eggs, and bacon. A simple meal? Some would say yes, but there is indeed an art to cooking scrambled eggs and grits properly. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. They are open for breakfast lunch and dinner, and even have vegan options. There is a sofa, individual bathrooms, and a great outdoor area which gives great brunch vibes. There service was excellent. There are only three parking spaces in front, but there are additional spaces behind the restaurant. Further, WIFI is free. An additional thing I appreciated was the gospel music playing in the background in the early morning. I'm not a church every Sunday person, but I can appreciate others' faith where the same as mine or otherwise. This place is a MUST visit! Sooooo.... I am a southern girl. So when people ask me to recommend soul food in and around Atlanta I am like " my mama's kitchen". We ordered: fish and grits , shrimp and grits, and red velvet chicken and waffles. The fish had a nice lite batter fried to perfection. But I did find the grits a tad thick. The shrimp were seasoned well but had tails on, which if they are over grits is a no no. The fried chicken wings had the kids quiet and chomping for a while but the red velvet waffles were not crisp and a little gummy like it was cake batter put in a waffle maker. Buttttt an employee saw that and bent down and asked for my daughters feedback and brought out a fresh waffle to go. Of course it's the food for me but it is also the service. Let's just say I was left feeling so warm and cozy by the coffee shop vibes, and warm hospitality that I will give Cenacle a second try. read more

I was looking for breakfast in the Austell/Mableton area and this coffee shop/restaurant caught my attention. The reviews were positive and I was interested in seeing exactly where the restaurant was located. I ordered the breakfast platter which included eggs, sausage links and French toast. I added a size of cheese grits because they are my favorite. The flavor was good in general but I liked the sausage links the best. The cheese grits were creamy but not the best I've had. The French toast was a bit crunchy on the ends and I prefer mine soft. Parking is in the rear of the establishment and there is outdoor seating in the front. The restaurant is clean and has plenty of natural light to make you feel warm and fuzzy. I actually worked on the day that I visited and enjoyed the bright natural light. The waitress was fairly young and it took her a bit of time to bring my coffee, food and she didn't check on me as frequently as I would have liked. There was a 'hiring' sign on the door, so I am assuming they are short handed. Vegan Items There were vegan items on the menu and veggie plates are offered on Sunday. Soul Food The restaurant serves soul food on Sundays from 12pm - 3pm and offer great options such as ox tails, friend green tomatoes, smothered turkey wings, salmon croquettes, salmon, catfish and meatloaf along with sides: mac & cheese, rice, collards, broccoli, squash casserole and sweet potatoes. There are also pastries and a variety of latte's, mochas and smoothies. Service - 6 Food - 8 Ambience - 9 This restaurant is a hidden gem, I'm not sure many people know about it. Despite what Google says, this restaurant is open on Sundays EARLY. Watch out The Hive and BQE because The Cenacle has the red velvet chicken waffles recipe on lock! As a self proclaimed red velvet chicken and waffle connoisseur, the icing was amazing, the waffles were soft and moist, the chicken passed the scrape test and was so crispy and flakey and seasoned to perfection. Not to mention they used actual chicken wings (drums and flats) and not chicken tenders. The service was pretty quick considering their morning rush had just died down. I'd say to avoid it come around 1130. The ambiance gave small town southern quaint coffee shop with a touch of brunch vibes. I cannot wait to go back! I heard about this spot from my cousin who lives in the area, and I got a chance to check it out today for lunch after appointments and errands. I believe it may be black-owned, but I'm not certain. I really wanted the Salmon Croquettes but I was told that they didn't have it. The Chicken with Red Velvet Waffles is bone-in wingettes and not boneless chicken on top of the waffle. So, I got the Salmon and Grits and red velvet waffle on the side. Everything was delicious, but the waitress did note that the salmon size was smaller than usual so she deducted an amount from my bill because of that. I appreciated her honesty. It's local, quaint, quiet, and has ample parking. The food is flavorful, cooked-to-order, and delicious. They have great menu of brunch and lunch options. I'd recommend them. read more

Husband and I ate here today for the first time but it will definitely not be the last. Everyone was so nice and our waitress was fantastic! We both got Americano coffees and they were delicious. Husband ordered the pancake plate with beef sausage and a cup of the hash brown casserole. Pancakes were huge and fluffy and delicious and the sausage was perfect.
