Very nice and friendly staff. The building reminded me of grandma's house. Located on the corner of the street. Easy to find without GPS. I had the fried pork-chops with black-eyed peas and mac and cheese. Decided to try the corn bread instead of the rolls. Washed it all down with some sweet tea. Pork chops were good and seasoned just right. Black eyed peas were a little salty to my taste. The corn bread wasn't tasty at all. Absolutely worth the drive!!! I drove from Augusta, GA to visit this restaurant on a Sunday after church. I had the fried chicken, dressing, and mac n' cheese. Chef's kiss! It felt like I was eating at my Grandma's table on a Sunday. The place is small, but they have tables you can share with other patrons and chairs on the outside. Restaurant is pretty small but several people took it to-go. They have good food. I had the pork ribs with mac-n-cheese and black eyed peas plus cornbread. We're always looking for a new place to eat, and a friend found this place as a halfway point for lunch. None of us had visited, and we were excited to give it a try. The cafe is in a small older house with some indoor and outdoor seating. It has charm, and while it isn't big, there is plenty of seating for different party sizes. Service was great, and the people greeted us with smiles and laughter. You walk up to the counter to order, and the meal includes a drink (tea or lemonade). All of the food was flavorful, hot, and fresh. They cooked the fish to order; the ribs fell off of the bone, and the mac and cheese and collards were delicious. We sat for about an hour to just catch up, and it was great. Other people came in, and we had conversations with them too. It felt like a community gathering spot. We are in Madison for church and will definitely make some stops here for lunch. read more

We discovered this little place on our way home from a road trip to Florida. We were looking for southern food and were unable to get seating in Juliette and Monticello. Finally found this place and so glad we did. It's kinda in a residential neighborhood and as we arrived we encountered the after church crowd leaving. I ordered barbecue ribs with green beans and collards. My husband got fried chicken with green beans and mac and cheese with cornbread but there were many other options! Chicken was perfect and ribs were delicious. We're still talking about the green beans, y'all! We'll be making this a regular stop on our trips to Florida. read more

If they were open later, I would never cook again. The food is some of the best you will find in Madison. Authentic country cooking and you get a meat, two sides, and a drink for 10.00. The Red Velvet cake is to die for, moist, real cream cheese icing, and the correct ratio of pecans. Don't even get me started on the sweet tea. I can drink my whole glass before I ever get home with my order, so I always have to get a gallon. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Try it, you will NOT be sorry!!! read more

The Food: Very good eating spot for some delicious food. It is priced very reasonable also. The collard greens where very well made and seasoned. They where very good. The chicken wings had a great savory flavor with just a touch of heat. The whiting fish was crispy and seasoned very well. Tips to Improve: I believe that improving the cornbread would make this place exceptional (It was very dry and needed flavor). Also, sign on the backside of the building or on the side facing the railroad tracks may help with finding the place (the parking is in the back of the building). The Place: The building seemed brand new. Nicely painted and decorated. The restaurant was very clean and the people where very nice and accommodating. The chef even came out to greet us! This out of the way little place is a great find. I went with a man who dislikes mom and pop restaurants, preferring chains. But even he enjoyed himself! This is a counter serve place that has the ambiance of a table served restaurant, with the staff readily available and keeping everything clean. From the looks of the clientele, this is one of the better lunch spots in the area. I would love to come back again, if I can be back. I give it four and a half stars. They were out of a dessert and didn't have every side at the time I visited, but that can be a part of the charm of a local place like this. read more

We were in Madison GA and Googled restaurants and decided to stop here at R&B cafe just because the name sounded interesting. It turned out to be an awesome meal! Don't be fooled by the dimension (size) of the restaurant or the neighborhood location. It's got a wonderful airy and comfortable atmosphere. You can sit inside or outside and enjoy your meal. Simple straightforward options. Today their options were pork chops, fried chicken, and fried fish. I chose the pork shops with greens and macaroni and cheese. Awesome flavor!!! Really a wonderful find. I highly recommend it. You won't leave hungry. On the way out I had their banana pudding. That too was really good. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

My husband and I were looking for a place to grab dinner while visiting Madison a few months ago and picked R+B Cafe out of our search results on a whim. It was a little tricky to find, since we're not familiar with the area and the restaurant is on an unexpectedly residential street, but it was 100% worth the extra few minutes. Everyone at the restaurant was super nice (as were the neighbors, who helped point us in the right direction), and the owners spent lots of time chatting with us, highlighting their specials, and making recommendations. And, of course, the food was delicious. We had some perfect fried fish; the collards, mac and cheese, pinto beans, and banana pudding were top notch; and I'm still thinking about the amazing strawberry lemonade. This place is awesome! I had the pork chop combo with cabbage and stuffing with a cornbread muffin. Let me just say it was better than my grandma's. The pork chops were thin and fried they give you three or four. Mmmm The cabbage was well seasoned and the cornbread stuffing with gravy was moist and flavorful.
