This review is solely based on the food, as I've never actually stepped foot inside the restaurant. First good point: they were open on Easter! We had a long day and just wanted to eat at home, so we decided to place a takeout order. After browsing the website, we settled on the Salisbury steak meal, a veggie plate, lemon pepper wings with fries, a chicken tender meal, and a slice of strawberry cake. Second good point: the website was user-friendly. However, when I tried to place the order, the payment wouldn't go through. My husband called the restaurant, and we were told they were having some technical difficulties with their system--but we could place the order over the phone instead. Third good point: the person we spoke to was friendly and helpful. The food was hot and fresh when my husband brought it home. Overall, everything was good--there were a few minor issues, but nothing that was a deal breaker: The mac and cheese was a bit dry, and the cheese wasn't fully melted. The collard greens were a little too salty, and the chicken tenders were pretty bland. The icing on the strawberry cake was also a bit too sweet for my taste--but that might just be personal preference. Other than that, everything was delicious. I do wish the fried squash had some seasoning, tasted like there was none at all, BUT the crispy coating was so good & crunchy that it didn't matter. Service here was very slow. The cook and server both struggled with the idea that I wanted a BLT. The image is what they sent ...after it was remade because they put egg & cheese on it. The server & staff were kind. Just not the best experience trying to order a BLT. The restaurant smelled like old tortilla chips and a little like wet, old towels. I did a delivery order, and the food was really solid. I had the grilled salmon and roasted turkey dinner. The salmon reheated nicely for next day meal, and the sliced turkey was good. I didn't like that the gravy covered the entire top, but for someone that loves gravy this would be ideal for them. I didn't like the stuffing, but the other sides were really tasty. Our first evening in Lithia Springs, Ga (suburban Atlanta), we tried this place. Walked in and we're seated immediately. I had fried pork chops, collars and mac n cheese. My sister had a vegetarian plate. Food was good but service was a little slow. The staff were very nice and accommodating. Restaurant has a full bar and my sister had a watermelon margarita. This is such a hidden gem in the heart of Austell. On my 2nd visit it's still the good, homemade taste that doesn't miss. I met with a friend & business associate for an early dinner. She had the fried chicken livers, mash potatoes and collard greens. I enjoyed the Buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. They were both served hot and fresh, tasted great and arrived quickly. Service is top tier with the host, servers, bartender and the entire crew checking in. The venue was decorated for Halloween (it was Nov 1st) but the space is pretty large to support private parties and regular diners. There's also a fully stocked bar for cocktails or a bite without taking a table. There's two areas in the back facing Austell Rd for private parties or groups. I could see book club, luncheons or a birthday party being celebrated here. Don't sleep on the South Cobb Diner - breakfast is served all day and leave room for dessert. read more

Overall, the food was good. The fried chicken was moist and tender, the mac was cheesy and flavorful, cornbread on point. I can't recall exactly what my brother got, but he raved about his food and said this was his favorite stop all weekend (it was our first visit to Atlanta). I personally didn't enjoy the coleslaw- it's chopped up so fine I'd almost call it minced, so it lacked the body/crunch I enjoy in a slaw; and I didn't love the jalapeño in it. The side salad was fresh and a good size! Loved that it still had croutons, egg etc even though it was a side. The cayenne ranch dressing is *hella* spicy- seriously, I like buffalo wings and typically enjoy a bit of spice on my food, but this had me tapping out and asking for a different dressing- I couldn't eat it. Our waitress was brisk, and seemed almost as if we were bothering her whenever she came to take our order/check on us. Service was my least favorite part of our dining experience here, but no idea if that's typical, specific to our waitress, or just an off night. Hello everyone This is my first time here. I was at the dealership waiting on my car and decided to grab something to eat while I waited 2 hours. When I came in , I was greeted at the door. (Love it). I was able to sit in a booth. I ordered a Coke first bc I just had to get My fix. While I waited I took a look at the menu. I then ordered a lemon drop (I love these), but wasn't too good and it wasn't too bad. I the ordered blackened shrimp tacos with fries. They give you two tacos with three larger shrimp in each. Presentation wasn't bad. Tacos were actually pretty good. Although I don't think they were blackened. The waitresses were very engaged with the customers. That was a plus. I call and they say to come back but it's too far to go again so they say they'll credit me. I asked for an email to verify but said they don't do that. The trees grits were perfect just a little watery. I wish they would've been a little bit more thick. The French toast was amazing and had a Crips touch to it. Make sure you ask for real eggs. First visit to this restaurant which is located in the small downtown of Austell. When we arrived at 11 am on Sunday (their opening time) we didn't know whether they were open or not because their sign read closed and the windows are darkened. I called the restaurant and they said that they were open so we ventured in. The place was a little stark and cold feeling and had several employees milling around. It took about 30 seconds before we were greeted and welcomed to a seat. The menu is a little different than the West Cobb diner menu, but fairly similar. The restaurants themselves are vastly different. I had the chicken fried chicken, with mashed potatoes and gravy, fried squash, and I chose an extra side of jalapeño coleslaw. The food was fantastic, except the coleslaw. It was shredded so fine that it had a mushy consistency . I only had a couple bites of it. My wife had the shrimp Po boy with fries. She really enjoyed the sandwich but said the fries were pretty lame as they were the very cheap, frozen variety. Overall, the food was very good here. Service was also very good from our waitress. However, it does not seem to be managed well. Too many employees hanging out and not being the most professional. Bathrooms were not nice or real clean. Most of the music playing during our time there was absolutely obnoxious. When we left, the sign in the window still read closed. Overall, the food I would get four stars. Zero stars do not continue to go to South Cobb Diner we are frequent customers and we just cannot bring ourselves to go back to the diner due to the last 3 bad experiences we have given them 3 tries to fet it right and they have struck out all 3 times. South Cobb is a great little diner in downtown Austell to pop in when you want a casual, southern meal. They have a great variety of items on the menu to choose from, great customer service and easy parking. On this visit, I had the shrimp and grits which was very good and hearty. Great food! Loved all the dishes we were served, but it took 20 minutes for a waitress to approach our table to take our order and get us drinks. And then no one checked in on us while we were eating. This would be more understandable if the restaurant was very busy, however we were one of only four tables at the restaurant at the time. There really was no excuse. After we were finished eating, we waited another 20 minutes for someone to come give us the check. First time trying out south Cobb diner and I'm so glad I decided to go there .Thee was plenty if parking and there was no wait. The staff was extremely friendly and we were seated as soon as we got there . There are so many options to choose from and they also have an extensive dessert menu as well . I ordered the fired pickles which were really good and fresh that came with a homemade ranch sauce ( yummy ) . I also ordered the salmon with Mac and cheese and a house salad. The salmon came with a ramolaude sauce. My guest ordered the blackened shrimp basket with fries and Mac & cheese. Everything was delivered on time and the food was hot and fresh . Let me start by saying I love dining in a restaurant where the entire staff is happy or at least they all put on a happy face - actually during this visit I think they were all genuinely happy and that alone make this place pretty special. I came to Austell to have some enhancements installed on my RV, the owners of that shop allow me to camp for the night at their business in the area. After arriving late afternoon the first order of business after setting up camp and unhooking the Fiat was to find a place for dinner. After reviewing the options in the area it wasn't difficult choosing South Cobb Diner- home cooking sounded so good and there was no doubt by the reviews this little diner delivers on that. We arrived a little before 7:00 PM I was able to land a great parking (free parking) space curbside near the front entrance, that in itself made me smile. After driving all day I was ready to put the feed bag on and the simple menu made the decision making process pretty easy. We decided to order a collage of tasty items - collards yes, lima bean yes, fried okra yes, jalapeño coleslaw why certainly, mashed potatoes and brown gravy definitely and we hadn't even considered the entrées at this point. Collards - Just add a little of the pepper vinegar and eat slow there are no free refills - these are all star collards, very tender full of flavor and served piping hot. Lima Beans - Perfectly executed I flipped a coin and the butter beans lost I can't imagine them being any better then these I'm sure they are just as delicious. Jalapeño Coleslaw - Voted best slaw ever by me, finely grated cabbage slaw with minced jalapeños - so spicy, so delicious. The fried catfish and fried shrimp came easy to be honest I was wringing my hands over the fresh carved turkey dinner with cornbread dressing and cranberry or the pork chops I should of picked the pork chops honestly - not that the turkey wasn't good but it was just okay in my opinion the dressing was very dry as others have stated and the white gravy smothered everything and for that reason alone is why I should have passed on the turkey.
