For a matter of fact, he didnt even say a word. I looked like I was bothering him! The staff is somewhat nice, except for the checkout guy at the end, and pretty much everyone else didnt have a nice thing to say to me much less anyone. The office is dirty, you have to share a bathroom with men and women, no toilet paper or soap, and the water dispenser they supposedly have for you was empty and no cups!!!! Ugh! The chairs you sit in are nasty, and I felt like it would be easy to catch any kind of a germ in that nasty office. Then, the wait is horrible! I waited over an hour past my appt. time and no one cared. What an awful place.

Due to her rudeness I chose a surgeon at a different practice, sorry Dr A. But thanks for taking great care of my dad. It's the way the office is run that gets me crazy. Making appointments can make your hair go gray. After hanging on hold for anywhere between 5 to 18 minutes after calling the main number, you best be sure they are truthful when giving an appointment many weeks out. There are probably appts sooner if you are standing in front of a friendly office receptionist. And if you are calling to reach a doctor or his/her medical staff, good luck with that. If you are already a patient in the practice, best to ask your doctor for an extension to reach their medical assistant in case you have an emergency and need to be seen immediately. A broken bone or excruciating pain cannot wait for weeks.

Unfortunately, my daughter was seen by another provider on his team, and the experience was completely different. His bedside manner made both my daughter and me extremely uncomfortable. His body language and the way he examined a young girl felt creepy and inappropriate to me, with very little explanation of what he was doing. I also received almost no meaningful answers to my orthopedic questions. Afterward, I repeatedly tried to address both the visit and the billing. I emailed, called, left voicemails, and even went to the office in person and spoke with a manager. I was repeatedly told someone would get back to me. No one ever did. My last detailed email at the end of July was also ignored. I trusted Dr. Berkowitz's name based on my previous experience with him, but what happens under his team reflects on his practice as well. I would not bring my daughter back and cannot recommend this office.

I definitely believe Dr. Routman does not like me and I don't know why. I had told his office that my blood pressure typically gets very low after surgery. I could NOT get a prescription for thrush which I got from the antibiotics he prescribed. I had to wait for my primary to get back from vacation to get the medication mouthwash. There is no follow up with physical therapy. I am just supposed to use the surgery arm/hand lightly whatever that means. I don't know what I'm supposed to do in order to prevent damage to my shoulder revision. Office person, Sheri, is the worst. No follow through, call backs or information to make life easier when facing a major surgery. I do not live close to the office or JFK Hospital. I was told to go to JFK before surgery to sign consent forms. I live an hour and half away and don't drive. This is 2024. Email me the forms and don't fight with me about it and say I can't have the surgery if I don't go to JFK and sign them, Sheri. I signed them the day of surgery like most surgeons have one do. Sheri is belittling and condescending and should not be in a position where she has to deal with those that do not feel well. No people skills and questions asked makes her act like you have put her so out you can hear the sigh in her voice. She must hate her job. I have called his office twice with some basic questions about what I can and cannot do and so far, no call back. I don't know why I'm not supposed to have physical therapy and feel left out in the cold. I found out by calling that my next appointment had been scheduled with the wrong doctor and wrong date. They say one needs an advocate. I agree a hundred percent but since I don't have one, I have to be my own. You will not receive any but the bare minimum of help from this group and then double check because they may have made a mistake. I really hope the surgeon is awesome. Time will tell. Still no PT. I have never been blown off after surgery like this before. No follow up, Nothing. There must be more than one expert shoulder surgeon in S Florida. I hope I heal well so I can be done here. Ashley which is like a 15 year old with a job that should be at McDonald's. She had been immature and inappropriate from day one. That should've been my first indication that I should not have my surgery with this place. Dr. Routman is brutal with his lack of empathy and lack of acknowledging all of the staff's downfalls and the absolutely unacceptable wait time of an average of two hours after your scheduled appointment and most of the time you have 30 minutes to 45 minutes in the room once your brought back into a room. 100% NOT RECOMMENDED. I can't write ALL the mistakes by the staff that went wrong from day one and after. I just emailed Ashley almost two weeks ago and told her that my arm is not good and could they send me for an MRI so Dr. Routman could take a look. I get back a message, " I'll email Dr. Routman". No response! And Expected. I want nothing to do with this Place and ALL employees of Dr. Routman. Dr. Routman, You should be ashamed of your self and your entire staff ! You're a terrible doctor, but you are a doctor of this current time. Money comes first, patients come last, you don't care how long anyone waits, you over book your appointments and forget that your patients have jobs they must get back to so they can live as well. The doctor's waiting room was extremely dirty--from the door covered in fingerprints to the…read morecounter. The staff showed no smiles and were constantly complaining to each other. I was surprised by how many dogs were in the small waiting room. No one wiped down the chairs the dogs had been sitting on or swept up the mess on the floor. It was unsanitary. When making our appointment I made it perfectly clear as to why we were coming there. In addition, I mentioned the bruising on the leg had faded, however you can still see the outline of the bruising, in addition we had taken pictures when we first notice the bruising on her left leg. We were asked to fill out several forms on a laptop, without so much as a thank you or a smile. Once in the exam room, the assistant nurse asked us what we were there for, although I had already written on the registration tablet form. Doctor then comes in, and yet once again I had to elaborate "as to why" we were there, apparently, No communication within the registration, nurse and doctor. We were there for 40 minutes waiting room. Meeting with the doctor 10 minutes. This is unacceptable. Very disappointed. The health system is going down hill real fast.

A man experiences severe back pain, so bad that he cannot get out of his truck or walk and calls…read more911. EMTs pick him up & give fentanyl on the way to JFK Main ER. He arrives at the ER & vitals are taken. According to the medical records, the pain "started at work after heavy lifting". The man never got out of his truck, never made this statement. (Record also states he is a "current every day smoker". The man has never smoked a cigarette in his life.) They send him for a CT scan, which just shows some degenerative changes". The nurse sticks a lidocaine patch on his back. Then no one comes to see him. A nurse walks by & a family member asks has anyone taken his BP recently. Her reply,"Did you ask him?", meaning the patient. What kind of snarky response is that??? The ER was not busy, but the patient, with the fentanyl wearing off, is now extremely uncomfortable. The ER physician, Dr. S comes in to tell the patient he's being discharged. The family member tells the doctor that the patient complained of urgency & painful urination that morning. The doctor tells them to go have his prostate checked. NO LABS WERE DONE. A simple urinalysis would've shown that the patient had a UTI. There was tenderness in the right lower back area. But Dr. S ignores this and sends the man home. T - temperature (normal) I - Infection (painful urination) M - Mental Decline (patient was anxious & "tired" by discharge) E - Extremely Ill (patient felt the worse he's felt in his life with severe pain) TIME - the signs of SEPSIS. In fact, during the Severe Sepsis Screening, male RN SG, documented YES on the heart rate, which was 128 on admission, & 127 on discharge. DO NOT GO TO THE ER at JFK MAIN. Some pee in a cup. Just a simple CBC. These tests were never done & would've shown that this man had sepsis. Instead, he was discharged. By the head of the ER. After only an hour being home, the man was taken by his family to their local hospital where immediately a sepsis alert was called. An E coli infection from the urinary system... He was admitted & started immediately on IV antibiotics. Remained in the hospital, where they also discovered a mass on the patient's bladder. Cancer. A complaint against Dr. S was filed with the FL DOH. But HCA has a lot of money & great lawyers. Nothing is on record about the complete oversight by Dr. S. He gets to practice emergency medicine forever. This hospital was once known to be the best cardiac hospital in PBC. Since HCA took over, it is not #1 anymore. Even their top cardiothoracic surgeon got the heck out of there. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.

May only complaint is that there is no way to contact their administrative offices about a local billing issue; only a referral to an outsource billing provider. If I owed them money, they could certainly contact me but they owe ME money and I have tried for over a YEAR to get reimbursement with no result.
