They have great catfish, but we go for their steaks. Not fancy and limited to ribeyes or fillets, but they're delicious.

This place has the heat food hands down. I love turnip greens and theses were the beat I have ever had. I can't wait to eat there again!

My husband and I both had the 2 piece catfish fillet dinners. It cost us $26.14. The food came out quickly and very hot. Unfortunately my catfish was still squishy. My green beans were seasoned well, but the bowl they served them in looked like it hadn't been washed- ever. Our sodas were flat. My husband said all his food was edible, but he didn't care if we ever came back. This is going to be my families new go to. It beats anything within 50 miles! There was no wait at dinner hour on a Saturday. The service was amazing and prompt. The food was great as well! My wife and I both got steak and shrimp with salads, and sides, and our daughter got a grilled cheese with fries! Everyone got desert and we still made it out under $60 before tip. My husband & I both had the ribeye dinner. The steaks were perfectly cooked. His medium & mine rare. They were very tender & juicy, with a grilled out taste. Service was awesome & price was great for the quality of the food. My sister recommended this restaurant & we were not disappointed. Drove from Memphis and will be going back. Ok, I had to give this restaurant two stars.. I was going to give them one star, but my husband said I had to give them another one. We ordered to go, as a family of 5. Prices were decent.. dinner, not so great. First, my husband and sons' had a steak. I ordered it medium well... we received it medium (blood still oozing). I had to cook it, because I do not want my son eating bloody steak. Second, we did not receive the okra in our order. Third, even though I asked for extra tartar sauce (even offered to pay for it), we received NONE! Finally, we ordered the Mississippi mud cake & a piece of cheesecake. Cake was decent, cheesecake was TERRIBLE !! My dog wouldn't even eat it. It tasted exactly like Elmer's glue. The cheesecake was not creamy and the crust tasted OLD! What a waste of $90. I wish that there were more stars to give. Tucked away in the boondocks, the Chatterbox is a well kept secret. If you ever want to bring out-of-towners for a true Southern experience, then this is your place. I have lived in Mississippi for most of my life, and have been going to this restaurant for over 15 years. It has never changed, and I am so thankful. Hand stitched needlepoint and family photos grace the walls, hanging in the same places that they have for decades. It doesn't get any better than this. GET THE CATFISH! It is perfect. I say this without hesitation. Get it blackened for a real treat. Do not miss out on the desserts. They are sinful and oh so delicious. If you had a southern grandma, this is how she would make them. It's been a year since I ate here, but all I ever want is Chatter Box blackened catfish and a loaded baked potato with a salad and thousand island dressing, not to mention a slice of cake or pie- but it is always on a day the restaurant is closed. I've been eating at Chatter Box for most of my life, and the price is right for the food you're served. We have enjoyed many great fish dinners at this restaurants over the years, but not so much tonight. My husband had the all you can eat catfish, but it was way way overcooked. Usually don't do a review if I don't have something good to say, but going to make an exception tonight. The food was awful and usually the desserts they have would make me feel better but not tonight cake was dry as hell. We ate here this past Friday night....all I can say is "Wow". Some of the best food that I have had in a long time. For apps, I had fried mushrooms...really good. I had the 2-piece fried catfish with fried okra & onion rings. The best catfish I have had. They only use farm raised catfish. You can get it blackened too. I tasted that & it was awesome. The okra & onion rings were great too. They have 11 homemade desserts & one even has a patent on the recipe. I had a piece of cheesecake with butter finger crumbled on top....so good. Will I go back? Maybe. We were there at 6:30 on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was not super busy. The first issue was when we were seated and shorted a set of silverware. We ordered fried pickles and hushpuppies for appetizers. When these came, despite being in a party of six only four plates were provided. This made it a little awkward. The pickles and hushpuppies were very good. I ordered the three piece fish dinner and got one filet fried, one grilled, and one blackened. My favorite was the grilled but all were good. I would order any of it again. The ambiance is rather simple and plain with basic restaurant furnishings and plain light paneled walls. It was a good meal but the service left me unsure if I will return. read more
