We were having a great time at the 9 Mile Garden and decided to try the Cheese Shack for dinner. Lucky them, they were the food truck with the best sales that night! We had the Lobster Melt and the Big Pig. The descriptions of the menu were mouth watering but the be completely honest , I was not all that Impressed. Sandwiches were nicely toasted, super generous with the cheese, but the presentation a bit lame and definitely too much mayo in the lobster sandwich The Big Pig could have used some more Pig. I saw kids and adults with big smiles in their faces eating their big portions of tater tots and I thought that next time I would skip the sandwiches and go for the tots! Whenever I tell people I'm vegetarian, they usually ask if I'm vegan. The answer? Hell no! I love cheese too much. So when I heard about this new food truck, which just started going out this week, I knew I had to make it part of my summer food truck pilgrimage, stat. My food truck buddy, Megan A., and I hit it up at Cardinal Glennon today. I ordered an Italian without pepperoni, which is basically a fancy grilled cheese, with basic and spices, on bread toasted with garlic herb butter. I also ordered a mac n' cheese ball and a drink. All of this for under $10. They started to make our food and made sure that I just wanted the sandwich without pepperoni, which was nice, because they wanted to get it right. It came out quickly, 5 minutes or less. One of the guys working asked us about the time - you could tell that they are trying to serve customers fast without much wait. For a custom made sandwich, that is a great amount of time. When we got our food, we could tell that they really are making an effort with presentation. The containers the food comes in had cute yellow checkered paper in it, the sanwich was cut in half with an olive in a toothpick, and the marinara dipping sauce for the mac n cheese ball even had a sprinkling of parmesan cheese in it. The sandwich wasn't huge but not tiny either, and had a LOT Of cheese that was stringy and delicious. It had great flavor from the herbs and basil, and the garlic butter on the toast made it even more out of this world. The mac n cheese ball was crisp on the outside, but extremely hot and creamy on the inside. I've never had one like it. Delicious! My sister got a bruschetta sandwich, which also looked great. They serve sandwiches, mac n cheese balls, and fries here. One of the sandwiches even comes with a layer of mac n cheese on it! Wowza. I'd love to see them just serve straight up mac n cheese, and make the Italian without pepperoni be a regular menu item. Still though.. five stars form this cheese lover! read more

What a awesome food truck! The best food truck I've tried!! So many cheesy sandwiches to choose from. Went with the popper, ( smoked bacon/cream cheese/pepper jack/jalapeños/spicy chipotle) amazing!! Like really !! The other sandwich I tried was raspberry chipotle turkey melt w pepper jack cheese on sour dough. Good. Popper was better tho. I walked to this truck today for lunch specifically for the tots! My co-worker came back with her container of bacon tots FULL of tots worthy of a $5 price tag so naturally that's what got me...and the smell of freshly fried greasy goodness EVERYTHING about her's was what I wanted once I placed my order & walled back. Upon placing my order, there was another woman who ordered the bacon tots too. My order was first to come out & then her's followed. I was handed a fresh container of tots and looked in to see what was a partially filled order of tots...15 to be exact...covered in cheese sauce and a smidge of scallion on top. At that point I WISHED I could've seen what the other ladies order looked like. My guess is the Cheese Truck ran outta tots & split what they were working with between our 2 orders instead of saying they ran out from the lunch rush today. I Gotta say this was by far one of the worst experiences i've had in a long time i ordered the mac and cheese balls as an appetizer and it was overly greasy and on top of that i also ordered the inside out bacon and it aswell was overly greasy i am surprised that for a drink i wasn't served a cup of oil i strongly do not recommend it to anyone read more

The Cheese Shack food truck came to my neighborhood for an event and holy cow, did it deliver on what we were hoping. The truck itself is bright and looks very clean which is a nice way to start and the staff was also extremely friendly, even with the crush of people wanting to try their food. We ordered many items off the menu to try: The Big Pig, The White Cheddar Bacon, The Turkey Raspberry, The Beef Melt, The Italian Sandwich and the Pork and Loaded Tater Tots. If that all sounds like a lot of food, it was. Especially when you see the food in person. The sandwiches are enormous. The Big Pig combines macaroni and cheese and pulled pork into one of the tastiest sandwiches that I've ever had. My son ate TWO White cheddar Bacons (he had this sandwich in the past and knew he wanted more of it). The Italian had just the perfect amount of spice to it. The Turkey Raspberry was a really pleasant surprise as I typically do not like fruit with my meat but this was a perfect combination on this sandwich. The Beef melt had a garlic aioli on it that absolutely made the sandwich. It was a terrific melding of flavors! But then, the tots. Oh man, the tots. I could eat MOUNTAINS of these tots. They were both extremely generous portions. The Pork tots were a revelation. Huge chunks of pulled pork with a tangy sauce over tots and covered in a cheese sauce. The Loaded tots were covered in cheese sauce, bacon, and green onion. Somehow, the tots stayed crispy and perfect underneath. I cannot wait until the next time I get to enjoy the Cheese Shack. Do yourself a favor and seek them out. The food is so reasonably priced and the taste is unbelievable. You owe it to yourself! read more

It's tough to find food that's delicious, simple and fast, and even more difficult to find food like this from a truck. I first spotted the yellow Cheese Shack truck headed north on 55 one morning and I headed to the internet to know more. A few days later I found the truck at Wells Fargo and was greeted by a young lady who took my order for a Big Pig (a grilled sandwich of sweet pork and macaroni and cheese) and a fried Mac and Cheese ball. I could see the guy cooking was the same guy I'd seen driving the truck a few days before and I could see him preparing my sandwich and fried Mac and Cheese. It was ready in about three minutes and appetizingly presented. This was a hand-holdable sandwich and not a monster by any means yet it was bulging with meat and melted cheese smothered over soft macaroni noodles. I slowed myself while eating it to make the cheesy pleasure last longer but when I finished the sandwich I still had the Mac and Cheese ball to devour. Somehow I expected it to be dry but instead it was crisp on the outside with freshly melted cheese inside; the cheese must melt while *in* the fryer. Genius! Unfortunately I work nowhere near to where The Cheese Shack sets up and yet I find myself making at least a weekly trip to find it. Check the photo I'll upload for an idea of their menu. I am only rating 2 stars today, because I have been disappointed on more than one occasion that your truck advertises mac and cheese balls but each event I have been at (Twilight Tuesday) you are sold out. When I found out your were coming to a booking today, I was excited and the third person in line. I will say I got my first taste of this food truck at Food Truck Friday in Towergrove Park. I ordered the Hot Italian and was very impressed. It was like pizza in a sandwich. My only reason for the 4 not 5 is that when we showed up at 4:30 they were no where near ready, but kept saying just a few more minutes while every other truck's line was moving quickly and efficiently. read more

I'm currently eating the Brusheta Melt right now, and it is awesome! Unlike other cheese sandwhiches I've had, the flavor is amazing, and it's not bogged down with too much oil/butter. I had the Bruschetta melt with Bacon, let me tell you it was pretty perfect. The cheese was great, melty but not too stringy and the bread had a perfect crust. It comes with a balsamic sauce on top that adds just the right sweetness to off set the bacon's saltiness. They serve their sandwiches with a little cup of tomato soup that is pretty good as well. The staff are courteous and helpful, overall one of the best food trucks I have dined at. read more

It was served on the most amazing bread with a sweet balsamic drizzle. It was hot, crunchy, and made my taste buds sing until the very last bite! My only disappointment was that the mac and cheese balls were so popular that they were sold out by the time I got out there (I was one of their last customers for the day), but I can't wait to try them next time! read more

I'd give this a higher rating, but unfortunately except for the very first time I tried them a year ago at a company picnic, I have yet to have seen the same ridiculously delicious bacon grilled cheese with cheese inside and out on the menu. If they have it, this is a 5, but when I run in to them and they don't have it, I'm left disappointed.
