Absolutely dreadful! Service appalling! Food less than edible. Avoid is my recommendation!

Another classic on The Hill in St Louis. Some of the best salads and Italian food in town.

3.5 stars. I stumbled upon the southerner when I was out and about and decided to give it a shot…read more Being from Alabama and Oklahoma, I think I know good barbecue, and this was pretty good. The pros: -The variety of sauces were delicious -The brisket was moist and had food flavor -The Mac and cheese had fantastic flavor -The plate was served with pickles and onions, which I haven't seen since I left the south -Great value! The cons: -the pulled pork was dry -The Mac and cheese was super saucy -not a big variety What I sampled was delicious, and I'll keep up with the Southerner to try more food (I have my eye on the chicken and waffles on a stick).

Walking through the office today I caught the smell of delicious smoked goodness and instantly wanted some for myself. I can't tell you how happy I was to find that the aroma that caused me to lose track of my engineering responsibilities was located directly outside the front door to the building. This was my 2nd time to get a mouth watering BBQ sandwich from The Southerner. The folks running the truck are always more than helpful and provide a meal that's a good value proposition. Quality, quantity and price seem to be well balanced. Albeit a tad bit on the expensive side. Look to spend about $12 for a sandwich and side. The turkey, brisket and sausage are all great. The brisket is pulled not sliced or chopped. It makes for a great tasting sandwich that doesn't need much sauce at all. Although the sauce is pretty darn good they get 5 stars for not needing it.

You can also buy blue cheese and ranch dressing. They were out of several flavors one hour in. I thought the wings were good quality. I selected the House sauce. It was pretty good. A little spicy. Very generous with the sauce. I am a fan of tater tots so they were good and they were generous as it seemed to be two sides. They also have cold sides like potato salad.

I don't know why, oh why I didn't read the reviews of this food truck before ordering food here…read more Big mistake on my part. This truck came to my job today and as some coworkers and I approached the truck we were drawn to the large menu of offerings, however we were turned off by the obnoxious smell of old grease. Yuck! Still, the idea of wings sounded good so I decided to get a few to try. I noticed at the top of the menu, there was a listing for "the daily special", which only listed side choices and a price but no main entree. I asked the cashier at the window of the truck and he acted like it was "common knowledge" that it was a burger. Uh, does it say a burger anywhere on that part of the menu? No. I ordered the $6 3-wing and 1 side combo deal. There were lots of flavors to select from on the menu and I went with Honey BBQ, and had cole slaw as the side. The best part of the meal was the cole slaw, which I highly suspect was store-bought. The wings were fried HARD and had a WEAK splatter of honey BBQ sauce on them. The sauce was that of what you can find at any grocery store for a cheap price. Normally wings are tossed in the sauce or baked in the sauce but not these. The under-side of the wings had no sauce at all! The wings were dry and overcooked. All I could think while eating them was "thank God I didn't get a full order!" Never. Again.
