I kind of happened past Big Belly Deli while I was on a random work errand. I decided to stop and pick up a sandwich for lunch. After reading the menu I went with the Big Lex (Turkey, Pepperoni, Bacon, and White Cheddar Cheese toasted on Dutch Crunch bread topped with red onion, spicy pickles, lettuce, pesto aioli, and honey mustard). I loved the Dutch Crunch bread. It was slightly sweet and had crackled golden-brown stripes. I don't normally even order turkey but this was a great sandwich! I loved all the flavors and textures. I have been wanting to try this place for months. It's a lunch deli that's attached to Helfer's bakery in Florissant. Problem is my schedule has not worked out and it's tough to make it there on the weekends for me. Finally was able to do it!! The gentleman who took my order super friendly and efficient, and I can say I thoroughly enjoyed the food. The soup had great flavor and somehow they managed to do the sides perfectly! The potato salad and pasta salad were done with just the right combination. I think most places put too much mayo/mustard in their potato salad, but this had just the right amount creamy, but not too much so. Pasta salad was simple but tasty. Buffalo chicken dip which I certainly didn't need but I wanted, had really good flavor and it was a bit different in that it did not have shredded chicken, but chunks of chicken. The garlic bread toasted pieces was a different spin, but I enjoyed the experience. While the sandwich was tasty the only reason I didn't give this place five stars is I thought the meat the bread ratio was maybe a little off and it was made with the crunch bread which is my first experience and it was definitely crunchy. I am definitely going to come back and try a couple of other sandwiches. Flavor was good and you can tell they have quality ingredients. The sandwich just didn't knock me off my seat, but it was good no doubt about it. Being a long time resident of NoCo, it's awesome to see a new sandwich shop. The menu has many options, but for the 1st go, I had to get the chicken Bacon Ranch. Ordered online and hour in advance of my pick-up time and when I arrived my order was ready! In and out back in the car in less than 3 min. This sandwich is heavy! Ample chicken for sure! The food here was good and not so good! I ordered the Three Amigos and thought overall the taste was really good. It was just that the sandwich top was really hard. Secondly, co-worker got the Chicken Salad and the taste was a little blah. There was an option to add celery and onions which she did not know about (missed that on the menu) so that could have helped with the taste. This place is a little pricey too. I chose & enjoyed the Chicken Bacon Ranch combo, with the chicken tossed in hot honey, which was a game changer! Their Butter Crunch bread is an added YUM! It's a bit of a drippy sandwich to eat but they'll provide lots of napkins! The traditional mayo-dressing pasta salad side was also really tasty! The combo additionally included your choice of a dessert & drink. All portions were very generous, so half of my dine-in lunch went home with me. I also took two bowl-size clam chowders (soup of the week special) home for a special dinner entree! The chowder was homemade, tasting much like the old Noah's Ark recipe.
