While I am a bit of a purist, I find it a good choice for them to have created a niche for themselves so that they can stay ahead of the curve. They have, however, created a reserve cheddar that is quite nice that we got to try. Hopefully we will be able to get the Eagle Cave reserve soon in the PNW. This creamery is also a carbon creditor through its use of woodchips to create steam to heat the pasteurizer. Or somthing like that. All I know is they are very environmentally concious so good on them!

What a gem in Mauston!…read more We're here for a baseball tournament, and I stopped in to grab a couple of sandwiches to throw in the cooler. I had the chicken salad, and it was absolutely delicious--unique, with a few surprise ingredients and a sweet chili drizzle that completely made it. I'll definitely be stealing that idea for my own chicken salad. I also ordered the smoked turkey cranberry hoagie for later. When I asked if it would be possible to have the bread on the side so it wouldn't get soggy, the team at the counter went above and beyond, individually wrapping all of the ingredients so I could put together a fresh sandwich for dinner. Such thoughtful customer service. I couldn't leave without trying the toffee pretzel cookie, and wow... it was to die for. I shared it with a few of the other team parents, and the first question was whether you sell them by the dozen! This will absolutely be a repeat stop every year for this tournament, and probably several times throughout our stay in Mauston. Great food, incredible customer service, a fresh produce stand in the back, and the cutest little shop filled with unique finds. Highly recommend!

I found a some meats and cheeses in the wine building that has free samples of wine with a sign out front that said venison sausage and not knowing what they had I went in. WRM had a small section of game meat sausages with elk, venison and buffalo in various forms which I grabbed the venison sticks. The venison sticks were very good and reminded me of some that I had a year ago from a local deer processor which I liked but I could not buy because it was shared with me from a deer hunt, you can't buy it in the store. After tasting the first one I was saddened that I only bought one package because I had the last one today and it's all gone. I would definitely try more items from WRM when I come across them again and buy more items to take with me.

If it must touch plastic, make sure you get it out as soon as possible and put in proper cheese paper or wax paper and foil. And eat it right away - it isn't going to get any better in your fridge. Uplands isn't open to the public, but if you call ahead they may just accomodate you. The trip through the lush, rolling hills of southern Wisconsin is an agrarian's dream.
