    Inviting bar area.

Bottom line: Definitely worth a try, in the quaint downtown, for some casual dining with real touches of higher end quality and service at relatively reasonable prices. The space is smartly designed with lots of warm wood tones and lighting making it an inherently relaxing and comfortable environment. American favorites are served with some real gastronomic flair all competently prepared, seasoned appropriately, and served freshly made. Our service however made the experience complete and is directly responsible for the extra star--"T"!--possesses the triple threat of servers: Super personable, super efficient, and super aesthetically pleasing. Will definitely be back!

Our friends came back from Florida and they wanted to treat us for dinner. This place is very nice and most of the foods we ordered were very good. I ordered a cheese burger with grilled onions in rare, and just perfect burgers. The fires had way too much salt on them to really enjoy them. My wife's burger was very well made , but a bit undercooked for her liking. The pasta dishes our friends had looked amazing and delicious, they did say YUM. I would skip the pigs in a blanket, as just smoked sausage wrapped in dough, a bit greasy. Save room for dessert as the boulder dish was awesome. Our server was beyond good, as his service was as good as it comes, ask for Lucas, you will not be disappointed.

I've been here twice now and I'm very impressed. Food, service and drinks are wonderful! Loved $10 Martinis on Wednesdays.

Star of the evening the pork porterhouse and potatoes

I absolutely loved the ambiance of this place. It is old school cozy and contemporary all at once. The service was friendly and informative for our two gluten free guests in our party of four. We had a gluten free ragu and polenta for a starter and it was amazing. As for the entrees there was a delicious flat bread, gluten free walleye and jumbo crab, a gluten free chimichurri steak, and I had a pork porterhouse gluten free style so my wife could try it. Everybody enjoyed their food and my taste of the chimichurri was very good. Personally, I thought the pork porterhouse was perfection. I see no need for me to tey anything else on my next visit. We ended the night sharing a creme brulee and berries which was excellent. What kept my rating from being a 5 was the fact that the appetizer could have been a little warmer, and my wife's chimichurri was definitely just warm. Overall it was a great experience and we look forward to our next visit.

This was a very delightful experience. The server was attentive and friendly. We ate outside on the nice patio. The food was delicious. We were given a complimentary sourdough bread with a delicious whipped butter spread. We had some tasty martinis that were a big size. They were $3 off for happy hour until 6. I had the salmon that came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Everything was cooked perfectly with good flavor. My sister enjoyed her Amish chicken special. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate torte, it was yummy and looked pretty, too.

1/2 wine on Wednesdays and meal options for every palate is what you'll find at Chew Chew. I ordered Sacchetti and Vodka Sauce with Italian Sausage entree and Chocolate Torte with candied pecans and Whiskey Cream gelato for dessert. Both were bursting with flavor. Will definitely return to try more items on the menu.

Mashed potatoes were a little dry and the gravy looks kind of funky, but actually tasted pretty good. The chicken was slightly dry, and the breading isn't as good as it used to be. I feel like they need to change the grease in the fryer or something. There are plenty of other better chicken places so unfortunately this is why I haven't been there in a while probably. The service was very good and quick. The inside was just as I remembered small clean with old-school pictures.

That being said, some friends of ours here in Chicago bet they could take me to Joliet, Illinois (some 30 miles outside of Chicago) and share with me the best fried chicken I've ever had. This sounded like a pretty heady challenge, so I could not refuse. Enter White Fence Farm here in Jolliet, IL. I'm going to call this place a restaurant / museum: A restaurant #1, as (yes it did) have the best fried chicken I've ever had - hands down #2, a museum as this place had old cars, old appliances, old tchotchke's and decorative souvenirs and nicknacks from the 1920's, 30's, 40's to the present - it was crazy! I've never seen anything like this ever. I was in awe!!!!! But, yes, you come here for fried chicken. There are a few other choices on their menu, but no, you come here for the chicken. They automatically include 5 or 6 side dishes like coleslaw, marinated beets, cottage cheese, potatoes and a kidney bean salad; and here's the rub - you can never run out of any of these side dishes. They keep on replenishing them. And they were all insanely good???? But, back to the chicken - it was light as a feather, juicy as hell and absolutely delicious. All of my above locations sited in this review had delicious fried chicken couldn't hold a candle to White Fence Farms, chicken. Not only was our dinner fantastic, but the walk-around this crazy museum was like a walk down memory lane. I don't think I enjoyed any meal this much since I moved to Chicago three years ago - PERIOD!

It was nice to see all of the servers and bartenders working together to help each other out. We visited on a night when they had a DJ playing, which added to the lively vibe. The tables were a bit sticky, and when we mentioned it, our server acknowledged they were aware and that new tables had been ordered. The highlight of the night was definitely the burger. I 100% recommend trying one! You could taste the freshness in every bite, with gooey melted cheese and a perfectly cooked patty. Overall, a great spot for drinks, good food, and a fun atmosphere. I'd definitely come back.

They don't toss, but give you the sauce on the side, which I was fine with. I asked for blue cheese crumbles, and they put a nice amount. The side salad is huge, and really good for just being a side salad. My only recommendation is that they overload it into a small bowl, so it's hard to eat without it falling out . I recommend a larger bowl. The server was friendly. I gave it 3 stars because it's absolutely filthy! I came right when they opened on a weekday, and the floors weren't cleaned from the night before. Literally food in the corners. Also, the table next to me filled with crumbs. When a group sat there, they wiped all the crumbs with their hand-eek! The table is so grimy that it's literally sticky! If you look at the trim, gate, condiments container, lights, and furniture- you can see loads of dust and grime. This place needs a GOOD clean down!

So, this section of Brookfield has a most interesting history. The land was donated, or sold, by Mrs. Edith Rockefeller McCormick in 1919. The architect chosen to design this building was William Drummond, an associate of Frank Lloyd Wright, and it is very evident inside the building. It originally was for meetings and a primary school. The first classes started on September 21, 1920. It also served as a nondenominational church in the 1920's and 1930's. For over 90 years it has served as a meeting place for groups: concerts; dances; Fourth of July, Christmas, and Halloween celebrations; and family functions. Predating Hollywood, California, in 1987, they, and other representatives from communities sharing the Hollywood name, defeated an effort by the mayor of Hollywood, California to copyright the name for its exclusive use. It is located just west of Riverside-Brookfield High School. The building has a main event room with a lovely fireplace that we totally enjoyed on the wintry night we were there. The original windows are still in place and you can tell you are in a Prairie style building. Available for rental, you bring in your own food and drinks and have the option to rent the kitchen. Tables and chairs are provided. Party on.
