    Wings, fries, & fish tacos

Best wings around town! I also had their fish tacos & they were very delicious! Their fries (not waffle) are the best!! My new favorite wing place!!

    Unknown soup

Normally we get the best food from off Broadway pub tonight I threw the food out the breaded pork tenderloin was burnt on one side and tasted like shoe leather I can't even begin to tell you what the soup was because it was some gray fluid with just a bad taste to it my daughters fried shrimp those wereburnt as well. Very disappointed

    Bleu Cheese Burger ($8.95)
    Jennifer P.

My friend Debra B. had a Groupon, so I accompanied her to dinner. Yay for trying new places! We both had the Bleu Cheese Burger, which was pretty good: hand packed, meaty, bleu-cheesy, and sized larger than the bun. Luckily mine was cooked to order! It was missing some seasoning, so we used a little A1. The fries were hot and crispy. Service was a bit flippant, but I'm not sure if our waitress was the only one covering both us (in the back dining room) and the front bar. I don't know what drink prices are since I didn't imbibe. It would be a decent food option if you WERE there for drinks. Overall, though, Off Broadway doesn't stand alone as a "food destination" for me.

Fantastic spinach salad and sample platter!

They have an outdoor patio, and since the weather was nice we took advantage of it and sat outside. Perfect day to just slow down and enjoy the weather. The staff were super nice too and everything felt easygoing from the start. I ordered the Bourbon Glazed Steak Skewers with wheatberry rice and homemade potato salad. When the food came out the first thing I noticed was how tender the steak looked. First bite confirmed it. The meat was juicy, soft, and had this smoky char flavor from the grill mixed with the sweetness from the bourbon glaze. The glaze itself was really good too. It had that sticky caramelized flavor with a little savory kick behind it, so every bite was a balance of smoky, sweet, and salty all together. The peppers and onions added a nice freshness too. Honestly the rice and potato salad were both bombsas well. The potato salad especially tasted homemade in the best way. Creamy, flavorful, and perfect with the steak skewers. The whole experience was just really good.

I recommend a larger bowl. The server was friendly. I gave it 3 stars because it's absolutely filthy! I came right when they opened on a weekday, and the floors weren't cleaned from the night before. Literally food in the corners. Also, the table next to me filled with crumbs. When a group sat there, they wiped all the crumbs with their hand-eek! The table is so grimy that it's literally sticky! If you look at the trim, gate, condiments container, lights, and furniture- you can see loads of dust and grime. This place needs a GOOD clean down!

The atmosphere was very "we're better than you," which is ambitious considering half the room looked genetically connected to famine survivors and dock workers. The confidence level in that building deserves scientific study. I walked in expecting casual dining and somehow ended up in what felt like an audition for "Medieval Lords of the Suburbs." The staff acted like they were protecting ancient bloodlines instead of refilling ranch dressing. At one point I honestly wanted to ask: "Sir, are you judging me... while wearing a polo shirt with barbecue sauce on it?" The energy was aggressively holier-than-thou for a place where the main cultural contribution is fried appetizers and vodka seltzer. To be fair, the food was fine. But the side of racial superiority was a little harassing for my ego. If you're looking for a place to drink with historic levels of racism and naturally redheaded bartenders, this is the place for you!

Man, I'm SO mad someone got to review this gem before me. 3 Stars!? C'mon. This mo-fo is a…read morefiver. Be forewarned, I use the word "gem" loosely. The previous poster was right, Joe's Saloon is on 47th Street just west of Plainfield. If you're coming from 1st Avenue, it's about a Mile west. I like this bar because of the odd, undeliberate charm, cheap drinks (ahem dollar Schlitz all day everyday), decent jukebox (used to be awesome before they went digital... Patsy Cline awesome), and the infamous Dollar Mystery Shots. Your choice of A, B, and sometimes C, depending on what stock the owner, Ellen, thinks they need to get rid of. Bartenders are laid-back and can put a drink to a face -- I rolled in after not being there for 6 months and they had it poured before I could say hi. The late-great Joe is adorned on a small canvas above the windows and REAL!? wood paneling on the east wall. Soft orangish-red neon illuminates most of the saloon, glowing up from behind wood molding - Not an ideal lighting plan, but almost accidentally the PERFECT lighting level. The bar isn't really a "kept secret" at all -- housed in a stand-alone building with all-season Christmas lights framing the peaked roof, it's not that hard to spot. That said, it owes a lot of its odd mix of clientele to it's location. People that roll into Joe's aren't there on accident. The south side of the street is a vast empty expanse that used to be a massive train depot for the nearby quarry, and the north side of the street is an industrial/9-to-5 business strip where even the liquor store closes early. Now that I've played the alcoholic sociologist, lemmie posit that the out-of-the-way-ness of the bar directly contributes to what kind of people come through the door -- people that specifically left the house to be at Joe's. Aside from College Break overspill (Easter, Spring Break, Winter Break), there's always a place to sit and rarely an loudmouth over-served coed to scowl at. This place can be blue collar, no collar, and popped collar at different times of the day (and if a sporting event is on). There's live music for a cover sometimes, but nothing too consistent. There's a terrific Quizzo once a month, though the questions skew towards the 40-something locals that attend and run the quiz. (One standard category is called "Where are you in the Western Suburbs", another was "Local TV News Anchors".) But, you're there for the experience anyway, so, whatev. While other locals are living past glories with their gym teachers at Kenny's, avoiding eye-contact with old flames at Palmer's or packing it in at local cavern-turned-Irish-bar Brixie's, what filters through to Joe's are the low-key neighborhood joes of all ages looking to sit back, drink, play Meatloaf on the jukebox and maybe play a round or two of Word Dojo.

Revisiting tonight left me feeling disappointed to have to leave a 2 star review. A local high school playoff game left Kenny's staff organization and service subpar. Their team was hustling to keep up but simply couldn't with demand of an unexpected full house. Upon arrival, we quickly saw it was packed and loud. We sat ourselves at a table and after 15 minutes of no one coming to us, I went to find our own menus. We flagged down a server who unkindly told us we weren't her table. When our server did come, we decided to order everything at once to not delay. Our appetizer came out with our entrees which was disappointing and then had to ask for silverware. Our server never checked in on us once we got our food but only when we needed the bill and a box. Thankfully we didn't need refills on our drinks but waiting another 10 minutes just to pay our check. The only saving grace was the food. Their menu offerings are simple but tasty. I've never seen them this crowded when I've visited in the past but sadly I wish I had dined somewhere else tonight. I hope my next trip back when in the area can prove to be an improvement from tonight!

My friends and I have stayed away from here due to rude staff, riff raff, fights, etc. in the last several years. We decided to give them a try a week ago as we were assured by another patron that it was under new ownership. The new owners supposedly cleaned house and removed all the previous troublesome staff. Everything seemed to have improved from our visit here a week ago, but that's because Michelle was not there. We had zero issues with the staff that day, we were served without issue, and overall we thought the renovations were an improvement. The prices have gone up but they have added premium beverages to their selection. Unfortunately, Michelle was not included in the staff overhaul, and mistreated my friend during a recent visit. It is a real shame that The Cordial Inn continues to have problem bartenders, because this place *used* to be a gem. It's now a far cry from cordial. The interior renovations are not worth it for any of us to tolerate disrespectful behavior from bar staff. I am beyond offended that the new owners allow the bar staff to treat customers badly. There are plenty of other choices in the area, and my choice is to spend my money where the staff appreciate my money and patronage.
