The Chicken Hut is in a little plaza off Lamar Blvd, with a few other businesses, including office. It's very convenient and has plenty of parking. I was starving but didn't want to drive anywhere, so Chicken Hut caught my attention. The nice girl at the counter gave me a little info about what was really good. Basically telling me a I couldn't go wrong with any thing. I didnt want a lot but decided to go with chicken tenders. As you can see from the picture, they give you a lot! I stopped in for a late lunch at about 1pm on a Wednesday. When i walked in, i was greeted by Byron (turns out he is the owner) who was "cleaning up from our lil lunch rush". The restaurant is impeccably clean. Small dining room, no soda fountain, canned and bottle drinks are available. His menu is great, options for wings, tenders, sandwiches in grilled or fried in his full variety of sauces or dry rubs. Some really unique sides as well. I tried the smothered corn ( a tasty garlic parm sauce with a hint of lemon pepper that is also available on chicken) , a 12 piece bone in wing with mild "hut-falo" and "jam rock jerk". Per Byron, his buffalo mild is definitely more of a medium on the spice level. The jerk was also pleasantly flavorful without being overly spicy. The food was cooked fresh to order and didn't take very long at all. While he may do a lot of take out, it was a great little spot for lunch. Would highly recommend to anyone in the mid cities for wings, next stop, i want to try a sandwich and maybe check out the banana pudding i saw advertised on their facebook page. read more

I had it for the first time 2 weeks ago and I've been back 2 more times since then. I've tried the Farm Pepper Parm, Lone star Lemmon Pepper Hot, Henny Wings Possible, Spicy Ranch Rub dipped wings. Out of all of them I really enjoyed the Lone Star. The seasoned crinkle cut fries are a must with the wings. The fries can be a snack on its own, they're bomb. Service is what you would expect from a soulful family owned restaurant. Southern hospitality, from the front of the house to the chef/owner comes out to check on you to how everything is tasting. (Byron was gracious enough to whip up some of his Peanut Butter wings on the house for us to try. I would consider them a dessert wing bc when you dip it into the bbq sauce, it tastes like a PB&J! ) I've been to many hole in the wall spots and the best ones are usually playing good music in the back and the chef's are in their groove singing while doing what they love. As I waited to order, a phone order was in progress and the guy shared their chicken is cooked well, and had to state this as the order was requested to cook very well. And he did not want them to be disappointed if the food was overcooked. Our chicken is cooked to have that good crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. And this comment gave me some insight on how I would order. I did the 12pc wing basket 1/2 Lemon Pepper and 1/2 Bucket Naked, fries, a Dr Pepper and Nana's Banana Pudding.
