I'm favorite bbq restaurant on the east side . Quick and easy going to order. They don't call in out only carry out or in Diane . Atmosphere it quite nice. Do not come at the last minute before they close, they might not have what you wants to order!

Oh lawd!! Everything we've had from here has been fire!!! Chicken wings the rib tips the sides are fantastic! I want to try the pulled chicken nachos and strawberry lemonade next! The place has always packed when we arrive, really nice people. Can't wait to go back again! Update: Strawberry lemonade is delicious!!

The wings were great but small. Usually the wings are bigger but they were still good

I recently saw Big Ken's on Facebook. I came across the food challenge videos they post and I was intrigued by the options they offer. So on my recent trip to Detroit, we made Big Ken's our last stop, and boy did we save the best for last. When we arrived we took a minute to look at the menu before we ordered. There was a young lady at the counter who didn't seem too happy to be at work. She was very short and not too friendly. After placing our order, my wife said she actually wanted to try the Mexican street corn but she was hesitant due to the cashier's attitude. I talked her into placing another order and she was glad she did. Our food was ready within minutes. And the other young lady who brought it to us was much more pleasant. So, I will go with the main cashier was just having a bad day. We went to the car to dig in and one of the male employees came out to greet us as he overheard us stating that it was our first time. He asked how the food was and we told him we really enjoyed it. He then thanked us for stopping by. This gentleman and the pleasant young lady saved Big Ken's from getting a 4/5 rating. Now to the food, my wife and I ordered the 8 Mile Pulled Pork sandwich a side, and a lemonade. I got cole slaw because they were only offering potato salad, slaw, or baked beans. But when my wife decided to place her second order, I had her get me an ear of buttered corn. As far as the drinks went, I got blueberry lemonade and my wife got strawberry. They serve the lemonade in these huge plastic cups with real fruit inside of them. The sandwich was the best pulled pork sammy I have ever had. The barbecue sauce is light but full of flavor. The bun was nice and saw and the slaw complimented the sandwich perfectly. The buttered corn was really good and it was served with husks. The lemonade was phenomenal, by far the best lemonade I have ever had. As far as the Mexican street corn, my wife was caught in 4k licking the sauce from the foil it came wrapped in. #Satisfied Pro Tip: We spent $125 dining at Sugar Factory Detroit, and we spent about $40 at Big Ken's. And I will tell you, Big Ken's runs circles around Sugar Factory for a fraction of the price. 8 Mile Sandwich 1-5=5! BBQ sauce 1-5=5! Corn 1-5=4. Customer Service 1-5=4. Blueberry Lemonade 1-5=5!

I heard about this place so I traveled 45 mins to come try. Never got a chance to try because After waiting an hour and 10 mins I was told that my 5 wings and Half Slab (which was all I ordered) wasn't ready and the server looked like he didn't even recognize the ticket as if he never saw it... And it really ticked me off, because people who came in after me who ordered wayy more than I did of the same items got. They got in and got out within 20-25 mins. There were others who waited just as long as myself too.. It's a shame because the woman at the register said it would be 20-25 mins..But NO WAYYY IT WASN'T.. And so disappointed, because I love supporting black business, but when this happens it's discouraging. AND ALL THIS ON BBQ DAY..4TH OF JULY...u know i was upset...I probably wont be coming back to this place unless they reached out and tried to accommodate in some way. And please get the organized. Later Orders shouldn't come out before more recent ones.. especially if they have more items to fill.. It's not a good look and It causes confusion and makes people upset.

They are located next to a gas station which comes in handy if you also need gas. I order the number 1 and my son ordered the pizza burger. Both were very filling and delicious. The original burger was cooked perfectly and the bun was pretty good. The onions and pickles were so good and I don't usually like pickles. I didn't try the signature sauce as I'm not a fan of thousand island. But many people will enjoy it the way it's suppose to be made I'm sure. The pizza burger was pretty cool. It had 3 nice sized mozzarella sticks on them and pizza sauce. We wanted fries and they only come in one size. The one size is big enough to share. We were suggested the lemon pepper fries and that was such a great suggestion. They are fresh cut fries and you can tell. I was happy they had regular fries and not the battered crispy ones a lot of place do. So they definitely will get 5 stars for the fries alone. It has some seating inside, but most people seem to get carry out. The men at the counter were so nice in helping us. They really suggested things we would like and we did. I will be glad to give them my business again.

The fall out fries were the move over the regular fries. The serving size was enough for 2 people. The side salad was run-of-the-mill. I ordered a medium rare, 1/2 lb bison burger on a brioche bun with aged white cheddar, caramelized onions, and bourbon ketchup. It ending up being rare instead of medium rare, and had fried (crispy) onions instead of caramelized. My wife crafted her own mac and cheese. After confirming the "chicken bites" were fried, she ordered a bowl of mac with those, onions, cheddar, and velveeta. The chicken appeared to be grilled rather than fried, and the mac itself lacked any flavor. Considering the mac was $21, we definitely wouldn't order it again. To say the least, I wasn't surprised to hear World's End closed. Had it not, I would have given it another chance.

Also, we ordered a full order of onion rings but only got a "half order" because "this was the last of them." He did only charge us for a half order thankfully. It was around 4pm so we were confused as to why so much of their food had run out. The service was really friendly but the let down of the food was really really dissatisfying. The Mac and cheese was a really good portion and the food we got was good. There were a ton of games alongside the windowsill in case you want to play. It was such a nice touch. There was a pirate vibe which fit the name really well. They do flights and had a great variety of mixed drinks. For a night out, this place would be good! There's no automatic doors however there are no steps required to enter this place. There's two handicap spaces.

The second time we went it was sooo slow. It took at least 15 min to get menus once we were seated and took about 45 min to get the food once the server came back to take our orders, which also took a while. It was 2pm on a Friday, and other than what looked like a wrapping up work lunch (they had checks and boxes for leftovers when we were seated) there were only 2 tables of guests, so the delay was not due to it being busy. That day I got a side salad and a chicken wrap. The salad was very good aside from coming with an item I asked to take off. I did ask for no tomato, as you can see in the pic, they were added. I didnt get pictures of the wrap, but it was very meh. I would not order it again. I did not like the BBQ sauce that was used. Very overly sweet and not a good flavor. I also found there to not be a ton of chicken, it was like a second salad... TONS of romaine. I believe the wrap was called Lakehouse Chicken Wrap. Side note. We were seated near open windows and the construction was. Abit loud, which was ignorable, however! there was a phone on the server station that was ringing CONSTANTLY. I have no clue what that was about, but it was so annoying. We did alert a server but nothing was done about it. Overall, I would go back but maybe just for apps and drinks. The drinks was well made and they had a decent beer selection as well. The look of the bar is nice and I hope they can stay open longer than some of the other places that have been there!
