We have a primary Dr that we never see due to his vacation or other reasons however we have seen the arrogant nurse practitioner Dodi several times. She barely acknowledges the child in the room and is always asking invasive questions about our mixed race family. I get the feeling she feels she's bonding w us however when she ignores the sick child in the room I am more than concerned. I'm not here for social hour and I just don't believe she has the knowledge or skills to handle our specific child's needs. I've lost trust w the Chkldrens clinic due to Dodi and the office manager who I don't know the name but is severely overweight white woman who is very condescending to her subordinates. It's embarrassing to witness to say the least. read more

Went there for my son's annual physical. Receptionists was super friendly. But it seems the medical staff was in a bad mood as one was calling another patient back and gave us stern looks as we just sat there waiting our turn, my 13 year old son even commented on it. When it was our turn the attending nurse was very blunt and had no real beside manner. The clinician came in literally yelling at us saying we didn't fill out a questionnaire my son was not comfortable disclosing saying he was mandated to do it by law. Which is not true. Then when my son stood his ground and it was clear he upset us. He tried to act goofy and ask personal questions and garner personal plans and information. Then at the end of the visit, he teased my son who is extremely afraid of needles about going to the back and mixing up a shot to give him. Poor judgement and quality of care at this place. Only reason we finished the appointment was to get this OSAA Physical paperwork signed. Not impressed at this location. read more

It took our pediatrician (Dr. Fryefield) almost a month to send a prescription for flavorless acetaminophen for my son who does not like flavored medications. She didn't have to do anything except contact the compounding pharmacy I gave her contact information for and tell them to make it and it took almost 4 weeks. I kept calling and being told I would receive a call back and no one would call me. The care coordinator (Caitlan McPherson) threatened to call dhs and report that our son has missed appointments if I do not sign a release for her to talk to Early Intervention. My son has no missed appointments. Very unprofessional. She did call DHS and the case worker even called that behavior unprofessional. Doctor and care coordinator both refused to allow us to have vaccines administered at home by a company I picked and would not provide another option. I am very dissatisfied with the service we have received and I feel as if the care coordinator violated our rights by filing a false report. Update: I decided to give our pediatrician's office a chance to make it right. I called the office manager and told her about the poor care and unprofessional behavior going on her office. She was condescending and unwilling to take me seriously. She said she's going to have to consider if they will even keep our son as a patient there. Not only are they giving us poor care but they are threatening to cancel our son's medical care because I advocated for him. Worst customer service I have ever received. read more

I don't have very many positive things to say about this office so i will start with it. Dr Lacey was incredibly kind and informative in my few interactions with her about an event that happened with my child. Unfortunately we got stuck with Dr. Barone after that and she was one of the most dismissive, arrogant and least qualified and compassionate dr i have ever encountered. Hands down the BEST bunch of Doctors I have ever met. Dr. Fidone and Dr. Deshpande have been nothing short of amazing. Dr. Fidone has a wonderful bubbly personality and is such a caring person. I can also tell you from personal experience that they will take THE BEST care of your children, and NOTHING will be missed. This office is very busy but that obviously tells you how wonderful the doctors are if almost everyone in town goes. The type of care my child has received has been superb. read more

My husband and I have been taking our son here for over a year now and absolutely love it. The scheduling has always been super easy, whether it be last minute or appointments made ahead they always make a time work. Our son sees Dr. Alexander and he has always been amazing! He is a very knowledgeable in little ones and has given us so much information in our first year of being parents! The nurse line has always been very easy to get in contact with even when the clinic is closed. This is really a great location I really can't understand why they wouldn't have five stars! read more

I have 5 children and we have seen Dr. Gillespie since 2004. He is always very thorough and always asks them the questions he needs to, and gives them the time they need to talk to him. He even listens to parents as long as the parent needs to express their concerns about their child. My children (ages 8, 6, 5, 2, and a newborn) have been patients at the children's clinic for 8 years... we had Dr. Pettersen and adored her and her bedside manner and her genuine caring of patients and parents... she took into account what the parents had to say and genuinely cared. Dr. Hayes took over after Dr. Pettersen retired. I had a new baby recently and this was my first newborn experience with her and it was the worst experience I've ever had. I missed an appointment for my newborn and tried calling the clinic SIXTEEN times between my late afternoon missed appointment and the next day and I was sitting on hold for long periods of time 20 min + waiting for the phone to be answered...I finally got thru the following day early afternoon and rescheduled. As it turns out- the clinic was having known phone issues for several days ... no problem, I rescheduled my appointment for the next business day. Wrong. During the time that I struggled to get thru to them by phone- Dr. Hayes called Child Protective Services... instead of using common sense and calling me or asking the nurse we've had for 8 years or looking thru my kids' charts to see how many appointments have been missed with my previous children (none)... she chose a low blow route... very big blow to my family as a single mother juggling 2-3 appointments a week and bringing all my children, I missed ONE and that's how low she thinks of her patients and their parents. As well as a massive blow to my trust and confidence. To top it off- when I called and asked to speak with the nurse or the doctor the woman on the phone wouldn't transfer me she stayed "we don't have to provide you that information" if I could give this place no stars I would. I've cancelled my future appointments and after 8 years we are moving our business elsewhere. (I have private insurance and I'm not paying to be treated in such a horrible manner) ... it's very sad. I wish I could find an adequate replacement for Dr. Pettersen but then again.. the quality of care she provided to my children will forever be unmatched. read more

We called to speak with the on-call doctor because we thought our son was very sick and we wanted to get an expert opinion in case this was an urgent situation. Dr. Kilty called us back. His whole mannerism was of someone who had been inconvenienced. As we described the situation with our son, his responses were irritable and combative. He also berated us for not talking to the advice nurse first. The last thing a worried parent needs is this kind of treatment in a stressful situation. This physician lacks any sort of empathy and needs to be avoided. read more

I'm really unimpressed with this place. Our daughter's primary physician is fine but we RARELY see her. It took three visits (not with her primary Dr) to diagnose a clear case of a penicillin allergy. I've been trying to make my daughter's annual appointment three times in the past six weeks and after being on hold for 10+ minutes, I give up. Fantastic pediatric care! Great staff, advice line, and scheduling. We are so grateful for after hours clinics on evenings and weekends. Every physician is so gentle, kind, and takes their time answering your questions. Dr. Gillespie is our primary care physician. We just adore him! He is so thorough and always takes the time to connect with our son. We've also seen Dr. Armsby, Dr. Nichols, Dr. Han, and Dr. Puterbaugh. All of these physicians are wonderful. For the first 4 visits, I have had 4 different physicians tend to my daughter. You really can't go wrong with any of the physicians that you choose here. They are all great and knowledgeable. I definitely felt comfortable with them tending to my daughter. Originally had Dr. Reynolds as our child's doctor but due to her being a part-time physician, she was never available when we had scheduled our four appointments within the week, so we ended up choosing a full-time physician, Dr. Rosborough and so far we've been pleased with her. Very disappointed with this clinic and please to all parents, avoid Dr. Alexander. We recently moved to Portland and have always had good experiences with our two sons doctors. My little on has had chronic ear infections and we went in with an extremely high fever. We were hoping to establish care with a doctor who expressed concern, genuine care and who could be knowledgable in addressing our concerns. Dr. Alexander walked in and immediately complained of having to "reassure" a previous patient which made his schedule behind. He sat behind a computer and spent 20 minutes rapid firing questions without a glance in my direction or my sons (12months). He was extremely unprofessional and does not have the ability to connect or interact with children. read more

The physicians at the Children's Clinic are fantastic, however the ancillary staff is extremely rude. If I was not already established at the clinic, and did not like my physician so much, which is ultimately what matters most, I would search for a clinic with a combination of fantastic physicians and staff. Regarding the review written by the mother of the child with the fever, I had a similar experience, but I was not as kind. I demanded that we be seen and we were. It's unfortunate that parents are put in this position. Additionally, I did take a complaint to the office manager about one member of the staff and she was quite kind and there has been a change. That particular staff member is still rude, but no longer vocally so, and that is much more easily tolerated. Ultimately this clinic's physicians received great reviews by other physicians, which speaks volumes about the physicians themselves and their abilities. I seldom write reviews, but I know that clinics do view what is said about them, and I am hoping that my review might encourage the clinic to work to assist their current staff in developing better interpersonal skills, or to hire new staff if that is not possible. I am certain that the environment at this clinic can be changed for the better. read more

We have been with the Children's Clinic for 21 years now. We have 5 children and I changed to Dr. Alexander when my oldest was 2 weeks old and have never been more thankful for a doctor. He knows my children and their history. He takes a personal interest in each one. He always takes the time and is very present with each appointment. He is always thinking ahead of what could be going on and thinking of many different possibilities. Even today, he asked me what I thought was going on with my daughter and really listened. He knows how to calm a nervous mom. He cares deeply and will do whatever my children need. His nurse, Melanie, always goes above and beyond as well. She returns my calls quickly and never even waits a day. She gets the answers that we need and is always so incredibly sweet. I am so thankful I made that switch to Dr. Alexander all those years ago. read more

My 15 and 17 y/o boys have been seeing Dr Alexander since birth and I always refer people to The Children's Clinic when they ask for a recommendation. We trust Dr Alexander 100%, and more importantly to me, my kids have built a rapport with him over the years that has proved invaluable as they've transitioned through their developmental stages. When one son started showing some signs of depression Dr A got us in immediately and the clinic's new Behavioral Health Specialist was immediately helpful with an intake and recommendations for follow up. Very disappointing first visit to Dr. Alexander. He never awknowleded the child in the room with 103 temperature. After 30 minutes of asking confusing questions over and over from behind his computer we asked for a different doctor that might help the child in need. We were assured we could see a new doctor in ten minutes, and than after waiting were told we would need to wait longer, we left in frustration with a very sick child with no help or care. Believe the 1 star reviews. Some of the scheduling and advice staff are empathetic and knowledgeable which was the only reason I put up with our doctors attitudes of inconvenience, being dismissive, and calling me a liar at one point. But bottom line is they are getting paid to provide a service and that service is to provide medical assistance to their pediatric patients. My job is to advocate for my child and have their best interest. What isn't my job is to take static from humans with fragile egos with a medical degree because they happen to be in a position of power over their patients. Believe the experiences of the other 1 star reviews. I wish I had. I always had anxiety any time I had to call in or come into the office. I was shamed unnecessarily on many occasions. They don't care about facts but work off personal bias and assumptions. Subjectivity and empathy are not most of these doctors strong suits and I've seen 4 pediatricians at this office and only one was worth my time. This clinic is really wonderful, I am extremely happy with both the quality of service, and the great pediatricians who work there. My daughter sees Dr. Gillespie, and he has been nothing but excellent every visit. He is caring, knowledgeable, and really great with children. I recently gave birth to a son, and I'm so happy that Dr. Gillespie is our pediatrician because I feel that my children are in excellent hands. We travel overseas quite a bit, and he is knowledgeable about diseases and out-of-the-box problems that could arise from visiting under-developed countries, or even when going to Europe, since they may have different outbreaks in the US.He also is willing to listen to any issues I have, and work with me on problems that I may have with the kids. For the times he was not in the office, I saw other physicians at the clinic. Dr. Pereira is also a favorite of mine. She is also extremely knowledgeable, easy to speak with, and wonderful with the kids. When I first started going to the clinic, we lived on the opposite side of town, but after just one visit I knew that this was the right place to take my daughter. Now that I have a son also, I could not imagine going anywhere else. They also have an excellent advice line, with very knowledgeable nurses who are willing to speak with you and also consult with your doctor concerning any illnesses or issues that happen outside of office hours, or during office hours-- to save you a visit! My daughter has had the pleasure of having Dr. Han take care of her for 7 years. She is thoughtful, kind, smart, and tenacious. We hit the jackpot finding her and the Children's Clinic. The nurses are the best. They are open on the weekends! My daughter used to have chronic ear infections and this saved us a lot of money, rather than going to an ER. Plus they have all of her info in their system. We have also gone to Dr. Tomkoria and Dr. Reynolds and had great experiences. Sometimes they are hard to get into, but that is what you get when you go to the best clinic in town. I would highly recommend Dr. Han and the Children's Clinic to every family. read more
