THIS is my 2nd project now with C.G. -- and it's currently underway (anticipated completion this coming week). This project involves a new S.S. liner and brick/mortar work to ensure a safe and strong woodstove retrofit. Photos attchd. Just had a first test fire, and all is safe and strong. C.G. completed another job of complete rebuild of the firebox in living Rm fireplace, and new spring-loaded top cover up on the roof. 2 years down the road; everything is working great. The service started off great, and the technicians themselves were courteous and professional. They called ahead, introduced themselves, and wore protective booties, which is why I'm giving one star. However, the company as a whole seems to put their technicians in an unfair position, using outdated upselling tactics and presenting customers with excessive prices, unfair policies, and unlawful charges. I truly hope these technicians find employment with a better company. The service was supposed to include inspection and sweeping/cleaning. However, they claimed they couldn't perform the sweeping/cleaning due to a blockage and wanted to charge $295 per hour to "unblock" the chimney--without providing any estimate of how long it would take. Isn't clearing blockages part of the sweeping/cleaning service? Naturally, we declined. What's worse is the company then tried to charge us for services they didn't complete, citing transportation costs (a 20-minute drive from Pataskala to Gahanna). Let me be clear: I never agreed to pay for transportation, and I will not pay for services that were not performed. They could not provide any evidence of me agreeing to these additional charges. It seems they rely on customers not knowing their rights. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company. Save your money and find a deal on Groupon instead! read more

Good job cleaning the chimneys, but I felt like they were exaggerating cost of the repairs required. They dealt with my wife, not me. Second opinions confirmed that, while some repair was required, the bill was not even close to the $10,000 quoted. After talking to several people, it seems like they say every chimney needs repair. Five people who have owned 9 homes inspected by them all had similar stories. If you want a cleaning, they're great. Get a second opinion on any repairs suggested, which is a good idea anyway. read more

Chimney Guys installed a new gas fireplace in Nov 2025. It hasn't worked properly ( if at all) since it was installed. They have made several troubleshooting visits - batteries, air lines were crossed,wrong button on remote was pushed- is what they said, but it was never fixed. Last visit a few weeks before Thanksgiving they said they were replacing it . I did not hear from them again until I called them yesterday. They then said " the warranty company said they were replacing the pilot assembly." They couldn't tell me when they contacted the warranty company , when the part would be in and when it would be installed. I paid 9 k to The Chimney Guys who advertise they warranty their work and product. They were paid in full and we still don't have a fireplace that works. Would not recommend them. read more

UPDATE: the business owner left an update on google saying I was not their customer. The business owner is lying and refused to give me my money back, and blames my management company for not not telling me the inspection price. She was very rude and yelled at me, very confrontational. Then she hung up on me. That is very unprofessional! *** I just had to leave a one start review here so that others can stay away from this company. I am a woman and I usually prefer women-owned businesses but I am just shocked at how predatory this business is and how much they charge! I have a property management company that helps with my property in the Columbus area. They asked Chimney Guys to come take a look. Guess how much they quoted me for?! over 3,000 dollars for work on the chimney/fireplace. I was shocked at the price tag. I contacted another company and they quoted me for less than half the price with better service too. Chimney Guys also charges for the "finish" while the other company doesn't. So I decided not to use Chimney Guys because of the price tag, and guess what, they charged me for about 170 dollars to come and evaluate it, without doing anything The other company had a complimentary evaluation. I'm so upset at this 170 dollar charge, as I was under the assumption that evaluating was free. I'm going to warn my investor friends in the area to STAY AWAY from this company. read more

If I could give them less than 1 star I would! I usually only right positive reviews and did not want to do this but I am appalled at the services I received and the response I got when I called asking about the service. When scheduling my appointment I let them know I had a brick chimney that had stucco overtop which was cracking, I was told by the woman who answered the phone and was very nice that they would stick a camera down the chimney to see the internal damage. Jesse one of the technicians/ owners originally came out on May 19th to look at my chimney( it had cracking on the outside and we wanted to know the extent of the damage)Jesse was unable to put a camera in/ look at the chimney at that time due to chimney sweep birds living in the chimney. We rescheduled our appointment to September 1st when the birds would be gone. On September 1st Jesse comes back instead of inspecting the chimney with a camera inside to see the damage he just tells my mother who was the only one home at the time that it has water damage and he won't know the full extent of the issue unless he rips off the stucco. He then charged her a $175 dollar service fee. To look at it from the outside and tell us exactly what we already knew. read more

I wish I had the opportunity to write praise for the Chimney Guys, however, this is not the case. We hired the Chimney Guys in March of 2021 to clean and inspect our chimney through Groupon. The crew came out as scheduled and did a relatively good job with the cleaning. However, after inspecting the chimney, the crew who did the cleaning offered to do the repairs at a much lower price if we hired them under the table and promised to pay cash. My husband reported this to the owners a few weeks later and the owners expressed concern over the behavior of the crew who offered to undercut the bid were family members. Three weeks ago, we took a chance to have the Chimney guys come out again and reinspect our chimney as we are now ready to do the repairs. The "Owner", Jesse showed up almost two hours late stating that he remembered our chimney and would do the repair for the same initial estimate plus a minor increase for a new cap. He promised an updated quote the next day. Three days later, we received a quote but it was the same as the initial, I called and spoke to the receptionist who stated she was unaware of the modifications but would speak with Jesse and send me an updated quote right away. The next day I received a new quote for more than 4x the initial estimate. When I called The Chimney Guys for an explanation, the receptionist stated that Jesse was not authorized to provide pricing because he was 1. Not the owner, and 2. Not a mason! This shocked me since Jesse stated that he and his wife, Katie, owned the business after her father died. He also came to the inspection with another man who he told me was a mason! I am completely appalled at the unethical behavior of this business. At this point they are 100% untrustworthy and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. read more

Very unprofessional service, the tech who showed up seemed clueless and had to call the office multiple times to get answers to my questions about my chimney, sending photos and waiting for responses. This company claims to have certified technicians and for $300 I expected quality service. I was very disappointed, when the clueless tech was finished getting answers from the office he left me an estimate for nearly 10 grand to fix my chimney. At this point I am unsure if there even needs to be repairs done to my chimney at all and will definitely be getting a second opinion. read more

I scheduled an appointment for a Tuesday morning. I took off work to be home for their appointment. They called at the time that they were supposed to arrive and said that the 2hr school delays made it where they could not make it to my home Tuesday to do the repair. They refused to just delay the appointment by the two hour school delay and insisted on rescheduling for some other day. My suggestion would be that you don't schedule with them unless you have a job that lets you be home around their schedule. In response to chimney guys response -- No, the chimney guys service representative did not offer Saturday appointment or after hours appointment, they simply refused to do the work at anytime on Tuesday and insisted that I reschedule for some other day. read more

Had high hopes initially because they were very quick to respond via email to the request on their website. Got booked right away, no problem (which probably should have been a clue, as all the other chimney companies seemed to be booked way out). However, come the morning of the cleaning they were a no-show. I tried to call both numbers on their website and email, and the 614-205-8847 reached a poor gentleman who assured me he was not The Chimney Guys, and the 740-927-0050 number was not in service at all. At this point I am wondering if I have been scammed. Thank goodness I didn't give any credit card info, but now whoever this is has my name, email, address, etc, and now have a wasted vacation day. We scheduled a chimney sweep in August. When they came out, they quoted us 7000 for chimney repairs. They cancelled their first appt they day of, siting the owner had a court appt.they preceded to cancel on us two more times, only to finally come out and tell us they couldn't do the job. They kept our down payment of 3500 and ignored our phonecalls and voicemails for a week when we requested a refund since they couldn't start or do the job. We ended up having to go to the actual business and confront them there. The two people working said they had no ability to refund us. And that the owners were both having personal troubles which is why we hadn't received our money back. We ended up having to report fraud through American Express to get our money back. Pretty sure based on the horrible service and lack of responsiveness, that the company is going downhill. You can't even locate them on Google now. I would steer clear of this potential scam. read more
