Delicate chocolates. I love the thin crunch of the outer shell, know what I mean? These chocolates are light, but full of flavor and honestly the mouth feel is what keeps me coming back. I always get the Venus Nipple (I think that's what it is called). I get like 8 of them. I recently purchased fudge that came with an Idaho shaped cookie cutter, loved. THIS CHOCOLATE STORE SAVED US A WHOLE TRIP TO THE LOCAL TARGET, as they had mothers day cards for purchase! Genius. Since this covid thing came around, they have all guests wear masks in store, and I can appreciate that. I'm glad to hear they are doing well during these weird times. read more

THE BEST CHOCOLATE I'VE EVER HAD HANDS DOWN. (And I would consider myself a lover, an indulger, a connoseuir of chocolate!) The prices are high at around $25/lb but you get what you pay for. The chocolate tops even the best imported French and Swiss chocolates I've eaten. My suggestions are the Nipples of Venus truffles and the Lemon Lavendar Almond Bark - so different and so decadent... This place is almost as amazing as......... well, you know what I mean ;) Truly, there are no more words to describe the place, the products, the owners, the employees other than a "Woohoo! Friendliest experience I've ever had at a shop. Upon discovering that I was only in town for a short time, they offered to let me try pretty much everything before I bought it. Of course, everything was good. I'm picky about my chocolate and these guys passed every expectation for smell, texture, flavor, and overall sweetness. Yup, this place is still amazing. Maybe not QUITE as good as way back when they were in their old location, but perhaps they're more consistent now. So many chocolate shops fail to present anything truly unique, especially in regards to the fundamental quality of the cocoa itself, but these folks know exactly what they're doing. I visited The Chocolat Bar while downtown during First Thursday. I ducked in for a wine tasting/chocolate pairing event. Afterward I went to the counter to see what the shop was offering. I drive by it, almost daily but usually on my way to work. This day, I had time to explore! Beautifully displayed, widely varied chocolates behind the case more than passed the taste test when I bought a collection to eat and share. This is THE GOOD STUFF. I loved the attitude of the proprietor and his staff...very friendly and helpful, indicative of confidence in a great product. Everything about the place was elegant.. OH MAN their cinnamon chocolate was SO good. Loved their caramels, too. And the crazy chocolate bra on the wall! Ha. Only thing that didn't quite hit the spot was the green tea chocolate (white chocolate ganache infused with green tea) in the shape of a Buddha. Although it looked rad, I barely got any of the green tea at all. The white chocolate just seemed to overpower it (weird, right?). Was there the day before Easter and was a little surprised they closed so early. About 15 people walked in 10 minutes before close to fill up on easter treats! This place just smells so delicioussssss. *sigh* Okay, so this may be premature to write a review because I technically did not buy anything. However, I DID taste the samples! And it made me wish I didn't have a yoga class later that day AND wish I hadn't just bought two pairs of cute (slightly unnecessary) ankle boots. If it were a different day, I would have had an easier time legitimizing paying for gourmet truffles and high-calorie chocolate "bark" :P The presentation had some creative flair...I really liked the chocolate high heels (one was zebra print)...ok im gonna stop because this review is getting too girly for my liking! The Chocolat Bar used to be my favorite place to purchase chocolates for myself, friends and clients. Ever since the new owner took over the pure simple ingredients have changed. It seems they are adding fillers or not as high quality ingredients as they smell and taste different. Also they made my skin breakout which never happened before. All you really need to do is walk in and take a deep breathe and you will be in sweet heaven. They had some tasty samples on the counter and I had a hard time chooses which caramel I wanted- they had an awesome selection but the apple wood smoked caramel square, I'm telling you, that was one of the best caramels I have ever had. It's all done by weight, but I think it came to like $1.25 for that one piece. Perfect size, perfect price. Not feeling guilty about that at all. Thank goodness for self control. There is so much selection one could easily fall victim to chocolate "analysis paralysis." However, the staff was incredibly friendly and gave me many helpful suggestions on what to choose. I even spoke with the owner, Kristi - she was an absolute joy and excited to share her passion for her craft. I've always wanted to try out the chocolate bar and was really excited to see all the different flavors and smell the delicious house made chocolates. The only downfall was the service. They weren't rude, but they weren't friendly either. A friend and I had walked in to about 6 employees working but not a single one acknowledged our presence. The Chocolate bar smells sooo good. Their staff is very knowledgable on all of their hand made chocolates. My boss loves their dipped Shortbread. I am in love with the chile pistacho bark. This shop does amazing work! I love so many different chocolates that I can't pick a favorite, but whenever I stop by I make sure to get the Hawaiian salt caramel and the blueberry dark chocolate. These are so good! Their chocolate blend is delicious. Went to Boise with my sister today who is visiting from California. After a nice lunch with great customer service at the Red Feather, we decided to browse some of the shops. We came across The Chocolate Bar. There were two employees behind the counter one was cashing out a family and then began helping the next customers in line an elderly couple. The employee I will refer to as mr. Orange County was cashing out a young woman who had bought a chocolate. As my sister and I entered the store another young couple enter behind us mr. Orange County bypassed us to kindly greet the young couple. I really didn't think much of it and continued to browse the counters and chatting with my sister about which chocolates I was going to purchase. The young couple started browsing the shelves behind us and I patiently waited for mr. Orange County to assist me, he instead turned his back on us to fiddle with some papers on a table. I still having faith in humanity thought oh he just has to get those papers in order but alas it was not so. mr. Orange County once again bypassed me to assist the young man who had finally chosen a small box of chocolates. Sad that a potential customer would be treated so poorly, but I am sure I can find better service and better chocolates in Boise. Everything they make here is top quality, from the housemaid Caramell to the imported organic pecans, and their very own blend of milk and dark chocolate. The Chocolat Bar is one of my favorite chocolate stops on the west coast! The chocolate is to die for, the Harvest Bark is by far my favorite (pairs well with a good beer). A little pricey, but for the ingredients used it is well worth it. The staff seemed nice at first! Two young girls at the counter greeted me and offered to answer any questions I might have about the chocolate. But the pretentious older woman with dark hair and bangs who helped me seemed like I was a waste of her time and was very rude when I was curious about the chocolate.
