I guess I was expecting too much from them. I ordered takeout. I ordered a croissant sandwich with no tomato, which costs nearly $10. It came with the ingredients wrapped around the tomato, for some reason, which made picking the tomato out myself more difficult and messy. What really irritated me was that I ordered a shake, which, to be fair was pretty good when I did manage to drink it, but it had a lid that was completely closed on top, so you couldn't stick a straw through it, so I had to take the lid completely off in my car, in order to drink it, which made the likelihood of me spilling it in my car very high. If you're going to have shakes for takeout, why wouldn't you have lids that can fit a straw?? It makes no sense. read more

This is usually my favorite sub place, but not today. I was looking to have a hot beef with peppers and onions to simulate Illy cheesesteak, but this didn't work at all. The onions were raw and not grilled. Perhaps I needed to ask if they could do such a thing, I do like the toppings you can put on yourself like olives, giardinera, pickles for those who like those things. Everyone here is so nice! Their service was great. The food is also pretty nice, I had the vegetarian croissant sandwich, and it was filling without being too much. I like their "special mayonnaise" and the croissant bun was really nice. The restaurant itself also has a very welcoming vibe, the color palette used and other decor elements are a tiny bit vintage while still remaining fresh. I had Oh My Goodness and Zanzibar Chocolate for ice cream and they were both great. I really loved Oh My Goodness. Pricing the ice cream by weight is an interesting choice but makes sense. The thing that sells this location is the beach across the street. My friend and I were lucky enough to be here at sunset with an amazing view of the sky from the shoreline. If you go here, maybe go around early evening to experience that as well. Looking for a light outside lunch on a sunny day we tried The Chocolate Factory for the first time. We stepped in and waited in line only to find out after a few minutes we were in the wrong one. We stepped over to the registers and ordered 2 hotdogs, (which came with chips,) one with cheese, and ordered 2 drinks. When the food was ready we were handed baskets of the hot dogs but no cups or chips; I guess we were to grab them in the previous area. The mature woman yelled to the staff in the other area to remember to hand out the cups (she was less than friendly to us or the other staff.) When we looked at the hot dogs I mentioned that I had ordered mine with cheese and she snapped at me and said it was there. She picked up the hotdog and there was a skinny little line of something yellow smeared on the bun. ( Enjoy the photos of this exchange.) I asked her if that was all I was getting and she said yes and nothing more. To say I was disappointed to have been charged an extra dollar for this joke is an understatement. But the dogs were large and I was hoping all would be ok. Nope, the taste was blah and rather salty. No taste at all of the supposed cheese. And on top of that the soda fountain Pepsi needed to be mixed right and had little flavor. We will not be back as this first experience was not friendly or tasty. Maybe their ice cream is better. The location is beautiful with the pewaukee beach right across the street. I do like how they have a station where you can add spices to your sandwich. The tuna sandwich is pretty good quality but is it really worth 7.50$ for a 7 inch sandwich? I don't think it's good bang for your buck but they should let us pick what toppings we want with the protein we choose like potbelly's sandwich shop does. My husband and I stopped here after dinner for some ice cream. They have a little window that you can order from outside which was so nice, especially during covid 19 where you don't really want to go inside. The peanut butter chocolate ice cream is to die for! It's in the perfect location so you can just walk around the lake while eating your cold ice cream. They also have seating outside! Highly recommend stopping here. read more

They have the best bread out of any sub shop. My kids love the croissants too. 3) The Staff: Extremely friendly and personable staff. They are truly happy to see you when you come in and treat you like family. Try getting that experience at a fast food 'custard' or ice cream place around here. 4) The Ice Cream. Stopped in here after dinner next door at Seester's, with a bunch of friends. Staff was ready and eager to help us, which made me smile. I sampled the birthday cake ice cream and the espresso ice cream, but in a heartbeat, ended up going with the latter (though bday cake was yummy too!). They don't have prices listed in the store on the walls or anything, so I was really unsure what my total would come out to be. The guy just scooped in some ice cream, asked me if it was enough; I said yes, after which he weighed my sweet treat. I (eventually) found out they charge by ounce! I've never seen that before at an ice cream shop, but it seems like a good system. Anyway, my total came out to just under $4 which, to me, is totally reasonable. A bit on the pricey side (my mini sub was almost $5)...BUT, everything is always delicious and it's definitely higher quality than, say, your typical Subway stop. I love the Blackberry turkey - turkey, provolone, blackberry jam, and spicy Giardiniera. Great flavors and something different. Soups and some daily specials round out the usual menu. I got no problems with the subs, sandwiches, salads, soups, and ice cream at the Chocolate Factory. Quality is a lot better than the chain sub places and they give you exactly what you want. My only issue is the the Sprecher root beer comes out too foamy from the soda machine. I love that you get a little chocolate with your order - that's the best part.
