Seriously so good!!! We were visiting Las Cruces and wanted to give this place a try after seeing mixed reviews. Loved the ice cream! I had the pecan crunch and my husband had the cherry, both were very yummy. You have to understand that it's a completely different style ice cream. The girl working was very sweet and helpful. I went to The Chocolate Lady today for the first time and I shouldn't have waited so long. The store front is a cute tiny shop that has a great assortment of chocolates on the inside and premade beautifully decorated gift boxes ready to go. I was in and out in under 2 minutes with a lovely box and of course some other favorites that was measured by the pound. The box was only about $30 which is super reasonable and the chocolate is delicious! Highly recommend grabbing a beautifully wrapped box for yourself. read more

Tiny chocolate store. There's not much room inside that there is sometimes a line that goes outside. Everything is fresh and delicious. I loved the chocolate covered cherries and the turtle chocolates. A must stop if you love chocolate and want something unique from Mesilla. read more

This tiny shop is loaded with creamy fresh dipped chocolates and rich ice cream. We had a dark and milk chocolate sugar free peanut butter cup and both were excellent, creamy texture and no artificial sugar taste at all. We also tried the pecan crunch and cherry vanilla ice cream. The ice cream currently comes in a pre scooped frozen cup. Both flavors were very rich and made from full cream. The pecan was my favorite of the two. The cherry ice cream uses maraschino cherries which are a bit sweet for me, but my husband happily ate it. read more

I was really looking forward to my 1st visit to the Chocolate Lady. Was in Melilla a year ago and ran out of time..but this year I made sure we'd go. So disappointed. Firstly, the guy behind the counter acted like he didn't want to be there. Terrible attitude. He Rushed us. I think he actually rolled his eyes at us. We were just excited to be there and see everything. We purchased an ice cream cup (we read their ice cream was the best in town), and a chocolate pretzel. Well, the ice cream looked and tasted like it had melted and was refrozen...solid. Not a treat at all. The pretzel was ok, nothing to brag about. So, all in all..rude worker and just average treats. We are visiting family and stopped by the chocolate Lady. Sorry, it was gross! We got 3 different flavors and the only one that resembled ice cream was cookies and cream. The other flavors, vanilla and cherry vanilla had an unusual buttery taste and seemed like 1/2 finished ice cream. Bill the kid serves ice cream. We passed by them thinking an ice cream shop would be better. Nope! 4% service fee is also not charged at some of the other stores there. read more

Came here briefly just to get their chocolate and pecans! It's pretty pricey. They have small bags of chocolate covered pecans for about $3, which contain a minute amount, about 5-6 pieces? Too expensive for so little. I wanted to get those, but too little. So I opted for their chili chocolate pecan bar, which was right by the door. It was a decent sized bar, about the size of a standard Hershey's bar. They vary in price, depending on weight. I bought 3, which ranged from $3.25-$4.25. When I tasted it was DELICIOUS! Loved the chili choc pecan bar! The milk chocolate was creamy and with a hint of spiciness from the chili added in...it gives this spicy after-taste that was very mild. It gave such a great kick. There were also bits and pieces of pecans throughout as well. Loved it! I would come back for this! read more

The owner is rather stern, which may explain the negative review, but in a helpful aunt sort of a way- she remembered me from the first visit, even though 4 months had passed. I have a special place in my heart for this shop as I worked there off and on from 2001 to 2009. Store owner Linda both produces her own chocolate confections there as well as brings in candies from outside sources (usually stuff that is hard to make in as tiny a space as this place is). I will ALWAYS recommend trying the candies that are made in-house. My favorites are the cashew turtles, chocolate covered cherries & strawberries (when available), caramel slices, caramel apples, dark chocolate meltaways, and when I'm really in the mood for chocolate the truffles flavored with various liqueurs (rum is a customer favorite but my fave is Irish Cream or Raspberry) hit the spot. The caramel is homemade and delicious so most of my favorites have it in them. They do have some drinks available, especially for those hot days on the plaza when there's really no other place that sells beverages, but really, you come here for the chocolate! Support local business and make this a regular stop when you need a gift for a chocolate lover or party favors for baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties, even bachelor/bachelorette parties (ask to see their "Erotic Chocolates", you will not be sorry!) I went to The Chocolate Lady for the first time and I was disappointed. This store do not sell the best ice cream and I did not feel welcomed. The employee was not friendly and the ice cream looked and tasted like it had melted and was refrozen. I was expecting a creamy and soft ice cream, and what I got was a frozen ball that barely tasted like cookies and cream. I would not recommend this place for ice cream. You can go to Sonic for a better ice cream. read more

They also serve a limited variety of wraps and sandwiches all for a reasonable price. Today I found the restaurant bright inside and well maintained. It is a nice place for a casual meal. I ordered at the counter and the young lady who waited on me was very pleasant and efficient. There seemed to be only one other person in the bistro, an older gentleman who was cooking on the grill. As I am always on the lookout for a good gyro of course I ordered their Lamb Gyro. I also tried their "Lamb over Rice plate which came in a tin foil pan. The gyro was served wrapped in paper and foil. The food was brought out to my table by the young lady in about ten minutes or so. There was no follow up. Utensils were plastic and lots of napkins were provided. The gyro was wrapped in a pita with a nice texture and good flavor. All the fillings were diced! This was not your traditional Greek gyro with cut off slices of meat and strips of lettuce. There was NO TZATZIKI SAUCE on the gyro or served on the side. The sandwich was served with diced lettuce, tomato, onion, and a white sauce and a spicy red sauce. Not your traditional Greek gyro. However, it was full of flavor! This was a very tasty sandwich...although I did kind of miss not getting my teeth into larger chunks of lamb. But, this Middle Eastern version of a gyro was most enjoyable. Rate this gyro a "B+." The Lamb over Rice served in a tin foil pan was a large meal for the money. A bed of flavorful rice was topped with diced lamb, crisp lettuce, onion, tomatoes and more of the white and spicy red sauce. It was a flavorful and filling meal. Rate the plate a "B." This was an interesting dish served at the Moca House. The restaurant is a welcome addition to the Las Cruces dining scene. I will return and maybe try their Philly Cheese Steak, although I will say that the Moca House will be more known for their exotic Middle Eastern drinks than their food. For the overall dining experience I will give it THREE AND A HALF STARS...meaning above average for a casual order-at-the-counter restaurant.
