This place was SO darn good. It was a hot sunny day and I Was craving a nice cold sweet treat before our trip back home to Texas. Caliche's was THE place to stop, no doubt. The staff were super welcoming and helpful with their menu. We ordered two custards, a chili dog and a hot dog. They prepared our order quickly. We sat in our car and enjoyed the view. We were only in line 15 minutes even though there were multiple cars in front of us. Then, when we got to the window this really sweet girl took our order. She was funny, cheery, and efficient. Super cool place! We were craving a sweet treat for our Saturday evening. It's pretty close to I-10, which is also close to our hotel. We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. You can either pull up and park & then sit in your car or sit outside on their benches and enjoy the weather and view. They also have a drive thru. There are two windows if you walk up and they are not marked. Get in the longer line to order, as the right side window is used for pickups. They offer Nathan's hotdogs a variety of ways. We saw them making one of the croissant sandwiches and they looked great also. Unfortunately we had already eaten dinner. Next time. They have lots of fun drinks and shakes but we came for the sundaes. We had a very berry and Big Hawaiian specialty Caliches. We also got the Watermelon Slush. Very refreshing and delicious. Went here on a whim as I was staying in town for the night and needed a quick place to stop. This gem doesn't look like much on the outside and the drive thru was a bit of a wait but man the service was fast. The super dog with the green hatch Chile was amazing and flavorful and the fudge brownie bliss was tasty and not too sweet funny enough. I docked one star because as good as the super dog was the Aggie dog was a disappointment. It was cold and the sauce they used was absorbed in the bun so it ate dry and I didn't finish it. Also for some reason even though I ordered at the window and the food came out fast the fudge bliss brownie frozen custard was half melted. I was able to drink it as I drove away from the parking lot. Very very odd - I'm wondering if those get premade and that's why it was so speedy of service. Nothing wrong with that but they may need a stronger holding freezer by the window. That said it was worth the money and I'm glad I gave it a shot. read more

Saturday afternoon at the Roadrunner location. I ordered the Mount Brownie. First of all, the price was high. I could have gotten a whole carton of Frozen Yogurt chocolate brownie for less money. Second, the portion size was very small. There was actually enough space at the end of the container that could have taken another scoop of frozen custard. Third, there was only brownie on one side. I thought it was supposed to be a split, with a brownie on both sides? Third, the single brownie I got was very short. I'm very disappointed.
