    New town new place!
    Trae G.

Great look to the place on the out side. Kind of a maze in the inside but adds character. Great service. Now the important part is I had the baseball steak with the mashed potatoes and broccolini. And a side of a crab cake and a house margarita. Margarita wasn't very good at all way too bitter. Maybe a new bartender? The steak was cooked medium not medium rare, still flavorful and tender. That was a good meal in itself. Then I tried the crab cake, poured mush and had no color like grey kinda scared to eat haha. The Brussel medley was good we will see if the cake stays down. Maybe will update haha

This place is amazing. Had lunch with my husband. Service was great, staff very polite and our server was very friendly. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and fries which was cooked as I asked. My husband ordered the Hacienda green chile hatch. Our food was very delicious and definitely will be back again.

We always love coming here. Food is delicious, nice cozy atmosphere, service is always great. It's also a hotel. We stayed here one time and our room was huge. They also have a swimming pool and nice garden area.

We ducked in here during April 2024 for lunch - immediately we were impressed with the decor and service here. I had the Blue Corn Blue Crab Enchiladas - which come with a side of jazzed up beans, tricked out corn, and some sort of slaw. Every bite of every item was simply superb. The enchiladas were the highlight, yet the sides were incredibly delicious, as well. I could've had each one as just a huge main. A big pot of beans is never a bad thing - well, maybe not in the moment. I could taste the blue corn tortillas that made up each enchilada - when you are in New Mexico - blue corn is a must. The flavor blended perfectly somehow with the seafood - big chunks of crab meat and shrimp blended with cheese and an amazing sauce. I couldn't get over how damned tasty they were - I have never had anything like them. Come hungry and try to slow down and relish every bite. It will be difficult, but you can manage.

The staff was exceptional in their level of service. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The rooms are beautifully decorated with custom ceramic tile designs. The staff are exceptionally cheerful and love their jobs. The restaurant can accommodate many food allergies. The chefs are very talented.

I was passing through New Mexico and thought I'd try some local food, and luckily chose this place. I had the blue crab enchiladas with green chili sauce which included a corn tamale, black beans, and a salad. Distinctive flavor and delicious! Food was piping hot all around, plenty of food. Excellent/attentive service, nice/casual ambiance.

I found this place on Yelp, it looked awesome. Then I pulled up to it and walked in and...my first impression was...not good. It reminded me of a restaurant in a Disney resort. Depending on who you are, this could be positive or negative. For me, it was the latter. However, the food, the service, and the prices were not at all like a Disney resort eatery, and that's a very good thing! This place has tons of original dishes, many based on, inspired by, or authentically New Mexican. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. And to top it all off, they have NM beer on tap as well. This is one of those places where you can choose between multiple areas to dine in. The "dinging room" looked hella fancy, so we chose the "cantina" which was hella casual.

Ask the Community - Hacienda de Mesilla

Has anyone stayed at the Hacienda hotel, and if so, how was it?

They need to update. The beds are really uncomfortable. The bathrooms are dated. Clean yes but far from memorable.

Do I need a reservation for a Saturday afternoon?

    No, you should be fine.

    So...does Kelli still sing?

To my knowledge the restaurant has changed ownership and therefore the old owner isn't singing there anymore.

Prices were about what you'd expect, nothing crazy. The desserts were just as solid--very tasty and a great way to wrap things up. He has beaten stage four cancer three separate times. Needless to say, his career military background and having just retired in October 2025 served him well. He has faced every diagnosis head-on like the true American soldier he is. During one of our quiet conversations, he shared something that clearly weighed on him. He was heartbroken that he never got the chance to take his wife out for their 55th wedding anniversary in December because he was in the hospital. The next day, I asked him a simple question. If you could pick one restaurant within a 100-mile radius, just one, where would you want to go once you had your strength back? Without hesitation, he said La Posta. Over the next few weeks, a lot changed. He was released from the hospital. He slowly began to regain his strength. First the cane went away, then short walks turned into longer ones, and eventually he was even driving himself from LC to EPT for doctor's appointments. When I finally asked if he felt strong enough to go to that meal we had talked about, he lit up. He started telling me stories. How his father used to bring him to La Posta. How it had remained top notch throughout the years. He went into detail about every menu item he loved. But the one thing he really wanted me to understand was the ambiance. You will get it when you are there, he told me. I called to see if they took reservations. We were not even sure they did. A young woman named Priscilla answered the phone. I explained the situation. My uncle was finally strong enough to return to his favorite restaurant, one that held a lifetime of memories, and he had missed celebrating his 55th wedding anniversary. I told her I wanted to surprise them and make the night unforgettable. I even mentioned I was planning to have flowers delivered. Priscilla did not hesitate. She immediately connected me with her manager, Teresa. I asked if we could have a larger table than one meant for three people because my uncle wanted to order everything. Honestly, I just wanted him to eat, to enjoy himself, to feel normal again. Teresa agreed without question. Then something unexpected happened. Teresa explained that Priscilla was a single mom of two who had recently started a floral business on the side and truly wanted to help make this night special. She asked if it would be okay to involve her. Of course, I said yes. I was transferred back to Priscilla and told her to go big. No expense spared. I gave her full creative freedom and an unlimited budget. Unbeknownst to me, Priscilla partnered with a friend who specialized in balloon arrangements. What she created was nothing short of breathtaking. Place cards. Multiple floral centerpieces. An ornate floral display. A large professional sign welcoming my aunt and uncle to the restaurant. She handled everything with grace, professionalism, and kindness, even as our party grew from three people to thirteen. And then the story took a turn. The day before the dinner, my uncle was rushed into emergency surgery. Suddenly, everything was uncertain. Half the family canceled to stay at the hospital. We kept Priscilla updated as events unfolded. Not once did she complain. Not once did she lose her composure. She adapted to every change with pure professionalism and empathy. She even adjusted the floral arrangements when we decided to bring flowers and food to the hospital instead. That is when I learned that the owners of La Posta had been informed of the situation. The male manager on duty, and I regret not remembering his name, passed along a message from them expressing their deepest condolences and gratitude. He also shared that they wished they could have been there to meet my uncle. There really are still good people in this world. After her shift ended at 4 p.m., Priscilla went to pick up her kids and then came back to the restaurant just to meet me. She walked me through everything she had created and explained the work behind it. When I asked how much I owed her, she paused and said she wanted to bless my family and could not accept payment. I was overwhelmed. Her work would have easily cost four to five hundred dollars. I insisted on tipping her at the very least, and she reluctantly agreed. The food that night was incredible. We had a wonderful server, and the food was amazing. We ordered extra meals to go so my cousins could bring my uncle his favorite dishes back to the hospital. It was a small way to lift his spirits during one of the darkest moments our family has faced. My uncle asked me to thank you for the food. And I want to thank everyone at La Posta for the hospitality, the compassion, and the humanity. When my uncle regains his strength and comes home again, we will return with his wife so he can finally give her the 55th wedding anniversary dinner they both deserve.

The fajita tacos and chile con carne were okay, but the enchilada was weak and the relleno was filled with some sort of liquid cheese that poured out in the first lukewarm bite. Rice was okay. Beans were overwhelmingly over-seasoned with oregano. The combo plate was drowning in broth from the chile con carne. We were disappointed hearing that this place had such great green chiles, but it was all so watered-down that we didn't taste much of the chile flavor. :(

They are simply magic here both in terms of flavor complexity and texture. Their texture here is truly the best. I literally was licking the plate at the end of each of these. I tried all four of their moles as plates and also as a sampler on four different occasions and all are very complex, rich, creamy and satisfying. -Mole Poblano. "A not so sweet ajillo pepper mole sauce with traditional ingredients and a touch of Oaxaca chocolate." This was the first we tried here and what brought us back for more. -Mancha Manteles mole: This mole is described on their menu as: "Sweet pineapple, red apples, fried plantain and a wonderful choice of spices make this mole a great and unique experience". This mole like their other ones came out piping hot, creamy, thick, complex and delicious. -Mole Negro: Chichilo pepper and tomatillo mole sauce with a smoky taste and a hint of ash. -Mole Verde o Pipian. Toasted pumpkin seeds and tomatillo mole sauce with a hint of hoja santa (root beer plant) My husband and I get their enmoladas stuffed with vegetables and get double serving of the black beans (rice has chicken stock so we avoid it to keep the meal vegan/ vegetarian). The plates are always piping hot and soooo yummy. When they have all four moles available they offer a sampler as well.
